It has been suggested that Cynics need a support group, and that it should be anonymous. In order to give cynicism the support it deserves, cynics everywhere should stand up and use their usename proudly. Anonymous suggests fear of reprisal, and that the activity is dodgy.
Cynicism is an extremely healthy activity -without it we would believe everything our political leaders tell us, and we would have no conspiracy theories. As this would clearly be bad for people everywhere, I suggest Cynical And Proud.

I'm pretty sure (Temporary) Grand Vizier higher status than treasurer.
I'm also pretty sure Andyr is exercising his irony muscles when he says that.
However I think in view of the circumstances, seeing as how cynicism is under attack, Andyr should come out as either a cynic or optimist. Rather than just sitting on the fence.

Hey, I like my fence! I would say I'm an eternal optimist (or at least un-pessimist), though.

And yes, my irony muscles are fairly well-exercised. wink.gif

icelus, you're repeating yourself now. Although I confess that I would look at any pictures of Andyr exercising these muscles, whereas I am happy for Cliffette to get in touch with her inner woman in private. I don't know that I want to see you getting in touch with your inner woman either.
It's confusing being a survivor of Catholicism.

Andyr, cynicism. Not pessimism. Do you analyse everything you hear or see? Is your humour desert-dry? We are talking fighting the good fight against dessert-syrupyness here. You are often extremely nice to people on-line, however you have indulged in the odd subtle criticism quite shamelessly, and have openly confessed to using irony. I classify you as a Sunny Cynic -Cliffette belongs in this group too.

*Question: is anyone else nervous when they see a guest has been active on the site? Why do I feel like the door might be kicked open at any time and the Decorum Police will burst in and then quietly go off and whinge to Cliffette about how mean I am?

Sometimes, I'm active as a guest (I tend to lose passwords). I must admit that my English is not good enough to understand everything you write blushing.gif, Eral, but so far, I've found it all quite amusing.

Classify away... wink.gif It either doesn't matter, or I don't mind, whatever that makes me. I'll have to note down though that you do seem to pay attention to what people say... which means I probably should when replying to your posts. Damn.

I am fast becoming a rainy cynic these days. *sigh* Mix it with a healthy dose of pessimism and you get my general world view - though I like to project happiness in spite of the pain and torment of this horrid world. Mainly because I don't look too great a as a goth.

But - teehee to this thread. smile.gif

Nobody looks good as a goth. Which is sort of good -because it means that the current You Must Look Good All The Time So Go Take Off Those Tracksuit Pants And Put On Something Stylish And I Don't Care How Uncomfortable You Are fashion fascists are not yet completely in control. As much as I love Trinny and Susannah, the feminist within gets very twitchy whenever they are at work.

Andyr, Dancing Stickman is not ironic. I'm not seconding icelus' insatiable desire for dubious pictures - lord knows he has a million other places where he can get those - but there is no way that you can pass off The Stickman In Motion as ironic.
I am pleased that you notice I pay attention to what people say - but don't go to any extra trouble. (Lord knows Ghrey doesn't and the results are quite fun.) Maintain your relaxed attitude. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If you like, I will make a category for those who are not cynical themselves, but appreciate the need for cynicsm. Howzat?

Cliffette, already the clouds are lifting, and you are using words like tee hee. I recommend listening to a blend of songs such as "Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas" (only the Judy Garland version, of course) and "Don't you know how to be dumb" by Elvis Costello, and you'll be feeling in top form in no time.
