even our new Dwarven moderator, although he's overly sensitive to religion.

Who's this?

Ice: I agree.

Bex invented him. He's very quiet usually, so jc has to lock the threads with religion in them for him.

I think I should have put my tirade in the Venting thread. Sorry. But I'm sure ice enjoyed the swearing. blushing.gif

Drew, WELL DON'T DO IT ANY MORE. Please.

My philosophy is that yes, people aren't always nice, and yes, it's wrong to misrepresent yourself as perfectly nice and lovely all the time, especially when it's so that you can have a holier-than-thou place from which to stand.

But.. I do like it when people are good to each other as well. But you do have to mean it for it to count - and that might be the rub when people say "THOU MUST BE NICE".

It's like Faramir - when the time comes for you to show your quality, why not go for the very best? Am I being too sentimental? I miss the innocence that we used to horse around with.

I think I've figured out my own set of rules: I get annoyed when other people censor me (which is why I'm not censoring anyone, though at times I want to purge this board.. sorry, I have guilt issues), but I'm ok when it comes to censoring myself.

I think you stated it quite well, Ms. Lou. I think the vast majority of us are initially quite cordial to one another, but the minute someone comes along and says "OK U be nice or... ELSE!" we get defensive. The old "you always want what you can't have" syndrome. If you tell me I have to be nice or ELSE, I will feel compelled to go to another, less strict forum and mock you. Not that I've done it even once, no way. Not me.

And I'm popping in here to say: Steady on ice, old boy. You did just fine, backing away from what could have been yet another pointless debate (not here, but in a PPG thread). Good for you.

I would like to state that Cliffette's use of the word "Guilt" has almost completely made me renounce all my evil ways. Nearly. I have gone back to all my irresponsible threads and purged an awful lot of them. Cliffette, please continue the purging process with any others that make you uncomfortable. I promise to behave in the future, but I will still try to be funny. kiss.gif

@Eral: Heh. Now I feel guilty that you feel the need to renounce your evil ways... I think I have an overdeveloped sense of responsibility when it comes to this board. I don't want it to become the regular meeting place for simmering discontent, that's all. Though I understand (and at times share) the simmering discontent. Aww, group simmer!

@Ice: Here's an experiment. YOU MUST BE MEAN AND GRUMPY ... OR ELSE! smile.gif

Guilt is like that. Don't you worry your pretty little head about it.

1. Transferring all useful discussion re. mods to forums where useful discussion (including hearty criticism) can take place,

I've often suggested that it'd be nice to salvage the good mods from Studios. Unfortunately, there are theoretical limitations.
I at least take solace that everybody just goes to G3 for hosting these days.

This is true.

2. Hijacking every thread with lively debate and raucous humour, causing either complete lockdown of the site or a loosening up of attitudes through sheer exhaustion.

It's really extremely difficult to hijack anything with raucous humour when every thread takes the form "What fingers are you typing with right now?"

The funny thing is that I have no problem with the strict moderation that happens at Sorcerer's Place.

Yes. I was mildly surprised when I was able to negotiate the placement of a link to the PPG modlist at the top of SP's listing. (Meanwhile, I'm scarcely able to negotiate the ability to even post on the Rec Room.)
By contrast, the SP IRC channel is really, really hilarious, and everyone should pay it a visit at some point or another.

Guest = Sim?

AFAIK, I am still "discouraged" from entering the SP IRC room. I don't really have much desire to go there, though.

Yes, but we admire your tenacity. Fight the good fight.

Andyr, is there a suggestion you have been BANED from SP? NO! blink.gif
