Dean could count the days in his head since he'd been there. That didn't stop how long it felt like it had been. University. The place he'd not continued his academic education. As with almost all other times, it was brimming with young people, looking forward to some time away from school. It was evident on their faces. Dean was just as happy. Work hadn't been a drag, and shock of shocks, he'd actually managed to knock off early. To add to his amazing day, he was pretty damn sure Ry would be free on his way home. He wasn't overly clued in on her schedule, but there was a definite possibility he'd not be interrupting her studies. It was break time anyway, he decided.
He didn't want to deter her from her work. As much as it was a necessity sometimes, he came second. Disrupting her studies was like ruining her dreams. If she didn't get 210% on all of her big fancy finals, something Dean knew she could achieve even with him being a greasy, horny mechanic in her personal space all the time, then she'd have lost time, never to get it back. The med school would count for something, but she'd not achieve all she ever wanted. He couldn't have that. She worked too hard, got pushed too far. She deserved the pay off.
This was no different. If she was busy, he'd just continue home. If he could help her out, he'd sit quietly and do as he was told to the best of his ability. Of course, that didn't have to start until he met up with her, until he got a response. The patented Dean Winchester way to get a response was made blatantly obvious to all the passing students and professors as a plea for attention also. He sat in the driver's seat of the Impala, grinning, and revved the engine. A lot. There was no other way to make so much noise other than burning rubber, and lately hoons had been getting in trouble for that. He didn't think his baby could last in the impound lot for a whole night, let alone him lasting without 'her'. And so he revved, and he turned up the music. Surely Ry would be passing by soon, as it seemed that some of the scholars had finished their lectures, were moving on to the next one. She'd pass by, or someone she knew would say something about the fool in the cool car, making all that racket. He was sure of it.
Rock music pounded through the car's sound system, the first few beats of each song enough to make anyone passing by jump in their seat. Loud. Attention grabbing. Sometimes sudden on top of that. Dean loved AC/DC. He cranked up the volume to as high as it would go without his ears bleeding, settled back into his seat, pushed on the accelerator. Such a waste of fuel. The prices were going up, but so were his wages. He was destroying the Earth, but he did one day plan on planting a tree or something. Just to be fair. He wasn't going to give up something that was so ridiculously fun. Driving fast was fun. That was a no-brainer. It was really REALLY fun, especially with his girl riding shotgun. The thrill was immense, much larger than that he got from simply letting his baby strain and lust for movement. To make the entire car shake with power as he pressed his foot down and a roar exploded from the engine. But that was still fun.
With a sigh, Dean dropped his head, thinking more clearly, even with a rumble every minute or so like clockwork. He'd had a moment, there. Thinking about driving along, about how he loved doing that. With Ryder by his side. He remembered in that instant that she drove fast too, in her own car. That she wasn't a crazy, reckless driver, but she had her moments. In her car. The one he couldn't remember seeing at home that morning. It was morning, though, so who really knew? Maybe she'd walked all the way to school, he'd managed to forget or ignore the beast in the driveway. Still, if they went anywhere from his space outside the University, she'd probably be leaving her car behind. Maybe they could drive together? One after the other, two black muscle cars like brothers in arms. Or sisters. Dean was certain his baby was a woman, all woman. He gently touched the leather seat as he waited, revved the engine again. If she didn't come out soon, he'd go in there himself. Or call her. Boredom was a curse.

Ryder had just finished up her last lecture for the day and was gathering her things together, she didn't have any other classes that day and had intended to spent at least an hour in the library doing a little of revision so she could take the night off and just be lazy with her husband that night, work was getting easier but that was a sure sign that finals were approaching and all the professors really expected of their students now was for them to spent their time revising. That wasn't too bad, she'd learned in the past that Dean could be a good help with that, Ryder smiled at the memory.
Quick steps carried Ryder up the remaining stairs and out of the classroom, a smile on her lips when she spotted her friend and caught up with him, a couple of thick books nestled lightly against her chest as they walked. Brent didn't seem to fit in with the boys, like she didn't really fit in with a fair deal of the girls. They didn't care though, they enjoyed their time talking about their rich. snob infested class mates. "So, did you manage to pick on another homophobe today?" Ryder asked, as they made their way through the halls toward the exit. "I did actually. I'd almost forgotten how much fun they are to play with.." he replied, a proud smile now spread on his features.
As the conversation continued, Ryder found herself giggling almost childishly as Brent explained exactly what he'd done to his latest 'victim'. As they stepped outside into the courtyard, a girl from their Biology class came up and began to rant about the latest case of hooning in the college parking lot, Ryder was glad for a moment that she'd given Travis permission to borrow her car from the campus parking lot that day. She didn't really mind walking anyway, if she was lucky she could catch Dean at the garage and score a ride home with him.
As they walked between buildings, something caught her attention, something about the car that was revving, something about the music said 'hoon' was playing. "What kinda car was it? Sounds like a ..." Ryder stopped before continuing, a grin slipping onto her lips. "Go get your man before the campus rent a cop does!" Brent teased, before Ryder walked toward the source of the noise. She beamed coming around the corner, her eyes lighting up at the sight of her husband's Impala. Ryder walked briskly over to him, laughter leaving her body as she made her way over to him. "Hey!" she greeted excitedly, as she reached the driver's side window. "I was just thinkin' about you."

Dean's boredom was thrown away as he spotted a pretty girl coming over, firmly administering a smile to his lips. He beamed at her, turned down the music ever so slightly and let his foot ease on the accelerator. He had his girl's attention. "Hey yourself." he said, eyes dancing over her as she laughed. "Oh, you were?" Dean asked her, voice laced with innocence. He opened the car door, neglecting to turn the engine off, and climbed out. "Not too distracting, I hope." he winked, in far too good a mood to let his cheeky nature take the back seat. Taking the books from her hands, he very gently rested them on the roof of the Impala, moved himself close to her. With his arms working their way around her waist, he pressed a kiss to her foreheaad. "School out?" He hoped it was. It was a no brainer that he wanted to spend time with her. That he wanted to take her home now, not later, and he didn't want her to study. She'd probably have to, though, even if she was coming home with him. He'd be happy to help if he could, and definitely stay out of her way if he couldn't. It needed to be done. He'd do what was best. Still, he really didn't want to anymore. He was sick of school, of studying.. and he wasn't even in college. He'd been out of school for years, his only paperwork that of work. He was sick of it, just wanted to take a week off work, spend the entire week just existing in their house together. They didn't need to do anything. Just no more studying, no work. But Dean would do what he always did.. what was best for her. That meant he'd probably be sitting quietly elsewhere, or helping her study later on. Dean couldn't help but laugh quietly at the sight over her shoulder, at Ryder's friend watching with that knowing smile on his face, and all those college kids eying up his car. A common sight, the guys all lusting over the old Chevy. Dean had done that himself for years. He beamed, took a tiny step back and leaned his ass against the door, pulling Ryder closer to the vehicle with him. It was more comfortable that way, as well as the possessive look it radiated. Nobody had ever touched his baby, and nobody ever would. Plus, Dean's good mood was definitely making him want to show off just a little. More than a little. Maybe. [ooc: sorry for any errors, babe. away from home atm.]

Her husband's greeting made her smile, her eyes lingering on his for the longest time before she managed to look away and catch a glimpse of all the other students watching them. Ryder tilted her head to the side, watching as Dean removed himself from his car before she answered his question with her own brand of innocence. "I was." she said with a small nod of her head. "Oh no, not distracting at all. I only missed at least ten minutes of my lecture." She stopped and smiled up at him, shaking her head to show that she was just playing.
When Dean took her books, Ryder took a moment to shake out her arm, relieving some of the pain that came with holding her arm in the same position for too long. She grinned when her husband moved closer and wrapped her in his arms, she closed her eyes when he pressed his lips to her forehead. "Mmm.. actually, yes." she said, sliding her hands around to his back. "I was going to head over to the library to kill an hour before I came and bugged you at work for a lift home. But here you are, so I get to go home now."
Being there with Dean, talking about her lack of study for the evening made her smile and almost completely forget about the crowd of people admiring Dean's classic car. "I have to do a little bit of revision later, but not too much I've been at it all day almost." she explained, following him as he leaned back against his car. "My finals start next week. Excited?" she asked, looking away briefly when her best friend called out his goodbyes. She gave a small wave before focusing back on Dean.
"Are you showing off the car or me?" she asked, tilting her head to the side. Her fingers traced tiny circles on his back as she looked up at him with adoration. " What'd you wanna do seeing as we're both free early today?" she asked, reaching up to kiss his lips softly. "Got anything in mind?"

Dean chuckled, watched her face, how lit up she looked. He beamed, happy just knowing that he was making her look that way. So happy to be with him. "Ten minutes? Babe.." He pretended to frown, a playful grin slipping onto his lips. "That's not good enough," He shook his head, splaying his fingers across her back. "That's hardly enough time."
Almost unable to stop his grinning, Dean listened to her speak, adding his own words to the conversation. "Mm, home. Yes.. I miss that place." He knew she'd been away from it longer, that he could have gone back home at any time, really, but the need to say it was just like his need to be smiling so broadly, holding her so closely. Not necessary at all. Based purely on the want to do it. He wanted to be smiling like that, or he'd burst. He wanted to be holding her, just because he did. He loved her.
At mention of assessments, or exams, he groaned. "You bet I am." he said flatly, not looking forward to the cramming or the stressing. He was sure to be helping carry the load of both those chores. It was his choice to be so damn helpful, but he hated it all the same. There was too much stress involved. Dean watched as his wife waved to her friend, turned back to him.
He chuckled. "Both?" It seemed like a simple enough answer. Two things he knew to be envied. Damn right he was going to show them both off. Nobody could touch either, but they could wish. The second that wish became an actual fantasy he'd rip off heads, but it felt good to have things people wanted. Ryder wasn't a thing, but she was his girl. He knew she was wanted. One look at her and anybody would know that. With his thoughts heading in that direction, Dean raised a brow at her next question. There were lots of things in his mind that they could do with time off.
Dean shrugged. "What do you wanna do?" He hoped she'd say something that was fun, doubted she'd say something boring. But, hey, she had her finals coming up. There was every chance. He rephrased his question, working for the best answer. "How much work can you do tonight..?"

As Ryder listened to Dean's playful scolding, her eyes never really left his face, her laughter never really ceasing just growing a little quieter. If she was to be honest with him about how long she'd spent thinking about him, she'd feel a little embarrassed. The truth was, Ryder never really stopped thinking about her husband, whether it be about how much she loved him or, sadly, how much she missed him. "I'll try harder next time.." she said, grabbing the front of his shirt in her hands. "I promise."
Standing there in Dean's arms felt so normal, considering they were outside of her university instead of one of the other various locations that would seem right for such a thing. Ry loved it just the same, she was excited just to have him there. "I miss it too..." she added, smiling up at him. "We should go there more often." she added, winking playfully at her husband.
As she watched Dean's expression changed, her lips curled into a large smile but she understood where his sarcasm was coming from. Finals always meant that she was always studying, that she was lacking in sleep and that she was pretty damn close to falling apart. It also meant that Dean would offer to help and end up keeping her sane like always. She adored that he did that, even when he thought his help was insignificant, Ryder felt as though he improved her concentration. "This is the last set of finals. After this, I'm all yours, all the time." she assured, grinning up at him.
Ryder shook her head at Dean's comment and lifted herself up onto her toes so that she was closer to his face, her hands still holding the material on his shirt lightly."Oh, well then, that's ok." She allowed a small coy smile to slip onto her face as she looked into his eyes. Ry smiled when he asked her what she wanted to do, her eyes averting to her hands for a moment while she thought. She didn't have a whole lot of work to do that night when she thought about it, she'd only need a little while. "Hmm.. I only need about an hour and a half for it, no big deal. It's not even important." she explained, looking back up at him.
Listening to the rumble of Dean's car, Ryder finally had an idea, her eyes lighting up at the simple idea of doing something so random. "Take me for a long drive?" she asked, leaning her nose on his lightly.

Dean beamed at her, his smile unbelievably able to get wider as her hands gripped at the front of his shirt. He leaned his head backwards, all efforts in seeing her eyes better. So sappy, but he couldn't help it. It was polite to look at the other person's eyes when they were speaking. Not only that, but her eyes were brilliant. Not just amazing to look at, but what he could feel in the way she looked at him, from a glimpse of her eyes, it was spellbinding. She felt strongly about him, just as he did her. Looking down into her eyes as she looked up at him, he felt warmth, and it wasn't just the sun's rays that persistently lit her pretty face.
Dean carried on the charade they'd started, as if their own home was such a foreign place. "We really should..." He said, tilting his head and reluctantly shifting his gaze from hers. "I hear it's nice there this time of year." He turned his eyes back to hers, not having any trouble looking away from the random patch of grass he'd focused on for the sake of the sentence. Back his attention went, though it had never really left her at all. She'd just been out of eye contact. He changed that, let himself stare back at her, a smile on his face. The topic they'd started was not one he particularly enjoyed, but he could withstand it. He thought over the idea of being helpful once again, of being that probable pain in the ass. Quizzing her when asked to, making sure she stayed awake. Making sure she got some sleep. All the normal studying things. A reason why Dean hadn't gone to college, other than that his calling didn't require it. Studying was a drag. The idea she gave him for after the studying caught his attention, however. Having her all to himself, with no studying, no finals.. no school.. that was definitely less of a drag. He could certainly have that on his list of favorite things. "Mmm," he chuckled a little, tilting his head and making a conscious effort to obviously check her out. "All to myself, huh? Sweeeeet."
Dean watched her get taller before his very eyes, smirked as she found balance on her toes, simply to be closer to him. Her hands were still grasping his shirt, which just made him feel cheekier. His own hands made a move, projecting the feeling as they dropped down her back a little, a few of his fingers slipping under her shirt instead of over it. Warm skin greeted them and he licked his lips, eyes still on hers. It was the longest staring contest he'd ever not competed in, and it was only lost when she looked down at her hands. "Are you sure? 'Cause, I mean.. your work is important. I don't want you to give up study time just for me." He nodded, as if agreeing with his own statement, before parting his lips and speaking once more. "We have a more lenient schedule than medical school and finals. We can work something out..." He didn't want to have to do that, it probably showed on his face. Still, it was necessary to say it. It was nice - he was being the nice, considerate husband. His hand slowly creeping up the back of her shirt changed none of that, right?
The sound of the Impala's engine idling along in the background really had become a part of the background. Dean had gotten so used to it, so caught up in standing there with his wife and having a nice little chat, that he'd practically forgotten she was still running behind him. The idle was loud enough that he should hve cared more, but he failed to notice it properly, to worry about the fuel running out, until Ry mentioned going for a drive. Her face had gotten closer, her nose against his as he smiled widely again. "Roadtrip it is. How far is this long drive?" He broke eye contact to glance back at his car, then fixed it as he leaned off the Impala. Standing up straight, being sure to hold onto Ryder as he did so, Dean beamed at her. He loved to drive. Especially with her by his side. The way she'd said long, it was cause for a drive that really had no point other than entertainment. His favorite kind.
Slowly, he loosened his clutches on her, chuckling. Unless she was going to lay across him as he drove, or sit on his lap, their current way of standing was not going to be acceptable in getting into the vehicle. One of his hands still splayed across her back, he used the other to open the driver's side door. "Ladies first," He winked, rather reluctantly removing the hand flush on her skin. "Slide across, baby. We're goin' for a drive." Dean's mood was back at optimum again, and there wasn't much that could spoil this one. A drive in his car, for as long as his amazingly awesome wife saw fit, AND she was at his side the whole time? Yeah, today was going great, and with them both having most of the rest of it off, Dean felt like it could only get better. Maybe they'd get some alone time, some time to be husband and wife. Newlyweds. Crazy. He could hope. It hadn't been very long, but it was long enough. He craved time with her, and by the car, the sun beating down, college kids watching, drooling, he was craving the intimate kind of time with her. Husband and Wife time. Not only that, though. He missed her company, and this 'roadtrip' was going to be an absolutely fantastic way to catch up on that.

Laughter continued to leave Ryder's body, her head shaking slowly at her husband's antics before she broke eye contact briefly to find the right words to hit back with. "Well, if it's nice then I'm definitely down for that." she replied, looking back at him with a playful smile in place. Her eyes softened a great deal when Dean seemed a little downhearted about what was coming up for her, her studies often got in the way of almost everything. But he was a good help as much as he liked to disagree. "I know it sucks, babe." she whispered, using a tone that almost sympathized with him. "Just a couple more months and that's it. No more."
As Ryder stood close to her husband, his hands sliding down her back, she looked over his face quietly. His fingers crept in underneath her shirt, a small smile forming on her lips again as she looked down briefly before looking back up into his eyes. "I'm positive." she answered, nodding her head slow. "I get what you mean, D. I do. But this .. it can wait. I promise, I'm not gonna fall behind if I don't do it right away." Ryder stared up at him as he kept talking, her mismatched gaze seeming blank almost before a smirk traced her features and her small fingers came up and covered Dean's mouth, the index finger of her left hand pressing against her own. "Shhh!" she giggled, sliding her hand up to his cheek slowly. "It's fine. Tonight is yours. End of story."
It wasn't that Ryder didn't want to go home, she did but she missed being spontaneous with Dean. Sure, the sex was, kind of. But they never just did something because they could, school always had a way of getting in the way of that. They'd get home eventually, she'd get to curl up with him in their bed and sleep until morning. But right then, she wanted him to drive her somewhere - at a speed that was probably illegal and in the car he loved as if it were a human. "As long as it needs to be." she answered, beaming up at him. "Take me somewhere we can be alone."
Following Dean's instructions, Ryder lifted her books up from the roof of his car and climbed into the car, chuckling as he called her 'baby' and seemed to be in a rather amazing mood. "M'gettin' there. Hold yer horses." she drawled, her accent seeping out as she laughed heartily at him and slide over to her claimed seat. Shotgun, it was hers now. Had been for about three years now. She turned in her seat and dumped her bag and books on the floor behind her, within seconds she was seated properly, ignoring the eyes that were still glued to the beautiful black car she was inside of. "C'mon, D!" she encouraged. "Give 'em a show."

A couple more months. He could live with that, hell, he'd be glad to if it meant he'd finally have her all to himself. No more studying, no more late nights of quizzing and falling asleep on books. No more trying to stop her from falling asleep on books. He'd be a free man, and she'd be his free woman. It would be perfect, like it should have been. At that moment, though, it was bordering perfect, no doubt about it.
She protested his protesting, something he had to admire. Even in the face of all that loomed ahead of her - exams, more work, everything - she had the nerve to say that it wasn't going to be so important, in her own little way. She put him first, even if just for this one day, this one night when they could be free like he wished they could be. He could handle that, and he had to smile. She tried to hard to have the best of both worlds. Such a go-getter, his wife. "Alright." Dean said quickly, nodding his head.
"Ooh, deal!" He exclaimed, getting increasingly excited about the prospect of this roadtrip truly being long. The idea of it being their alone time, be it emotional or otherwise, something he also valued highly. He beamed at her, watching as she climbed into his trusty steed, stack of books and all. He jumped into the car himself, having run around it quickly. He slid easily onto the leather and gotten ready to start her up.
"C'mon, D! Give 'em a show." He couldn't help but laugh, be totally thrilled. Be a show off in his car, his girl riding shotgun? Oh, hell yes. There was nothing he could think of to be better. He sobered, completely ceasing his laughter and starting up the Impala. A great rumble was heard, one that got louder and more persisent as he revved a little, then a little more, and so on. He grinned like an idiotic, eyes turning from the spedometer to the faces outside - all staring like similar idiots - and to his wife. He winked at her, glad there were no cars in front of his, and put his baby into gear, eyes on the road only as they took off down the road, a trail of smoke and the distinct smell of burning rubber in their wake.
