Why can't we delete our own posts?

Its to prevent people from deleting their portions of conversation and leaving other pieces and people get confused about it all.

And it can ruin the boards if you get hacked and all your stuff is deleted.

>.> I think.

But in general, you just think before you post.

Bah. Thinking first is no fun.

And of course, if you need something deleted, like an unnecessary topic, just ask that a mod or admin deletes it as soon as they see it.

Or it could just be because it's not the default option on InvisionFree...

*mods another InvisionFree board*

That could be it too, but I like to think it's not because people are lazy. D:

If someone's a jerk and says something they shouldn't and offends everyone but deletes the post before a mod/admin gets online, there's no proof. Other than that, what Ecnelis said: Think before you post.

a "delete your own post" option would be perfect for the asylum.

1. It's impossible to differentiate between subforums. Either the entire forum gets a delete option, or nothing does.

2. Same crap from my last post applies. Just 'cause it's the asylum doesn't legalize douchebaggery.

So what's so nice about the edit button then?

I'm not sure I understand the question. Do you mean that the edit button also allows you to delete douchebaggery? It does. However, at least your post remains as record that you were involved in the conversation, and makes me more inclined to be able to subject you to disciplinary action. Especially since it leaves a lovely "Edited by Blahblah on Blahblah" tag. Rather than, "I dunno why people are so mean to me, I didn't even post there! You must mean Billy, HE'S the mean one."
