today I'll explain the differance between prostectic and robotic limbs. there IS a big differance between the two.
prostetic limbs, like the one eris has are meant to be a nearly perfect replacement for the funtions of an organic limb. they aren't intended to be used to fight with, and in terms of durability and physical strength, they aren't much stronger than a normal human's limb. also, even though it's non-organic, you can still be injured if it's damaged because you how it's melded to the organics of a person. prostect limbs connect directly to the nervous, circulitory, musclular, and skeletal systems of the body. blood flows throughout the replacment limb, which spins micro-turbines in the artificial blood vesals to provide power to the limb, which is why no batteries are required. this also helps the overall health of the body by filtering pathogens and inorganic matirials from the blood. by being directly connected to bones and muscle tissue, the prostetic is given the omptimum natural movement ability. the limb has an exact titanium replica of the missing skeleton inside of it, continuing off of the missing bones. the rest of the limb it made of rubbers, plastics, and light-weight alloys, along with artificial nerve sensors on the surface and in the joints.
robotic, or kompulsed, limbs are different in alot of ways. they are intended to mimick the natural functions of the limb while also providing the effects of weaponry or armor. no blood or other tissue transitions into the limb, and there are no nerve sensors. instead of having a fake skeleton continused from the body, the end of the limb is simply anchored to the bones that are closest. inside the kompultion is the same as a robot, made to recreate movement, but not through even remotly the same way as orgainic. it's just a system of hydrolics, actuators, and electric motars. also, as told in the story so far, robotic limbs use a self recharging battery to run. running with the proper limiters, the limb will never use up more energy than the battery can recharge in the same ammount of time, although the limiter can be disabled by the person it's attached to.
finnaly, prostectic limbs and kompulsed limbs can be compared to androids and robots, respectively. that's why some people refer to androids as "prostetic humans", and kompultions are commonly refered to as "robotic limbs". lengthly explainations I know, but I just felt like putting some science into it and setting real definitions for my story, because things like this often vary depending on the storys plot, or a show's plot too.
