Chapter 15, Berserk
Maxwell was standing with wide eyes, shocked that Txzarn was still alive, even after all the attacks. What amazed him more was that a berserker, which is supposed to be nothing more than a loss of control, had materialized separately from Txzarn. It looked at him with its 4 fiery eyes, then attacked with lightning speed, stabbing a metallic claw into Maxwell’s body. “Just what the hell are you?” said Maxwell after up some blood. The berserker said nothing, but instead smashed him against the floor.
Txzarn in the meantime went over to Mirkell, who was still lying injured on the ground. He held out his arm to her and said, “Here Mirkell, you need to drink blood to sustain your berserker unlike me”. “I know. It’d be a little easier if my own blood worked, there’s plenty of it all over the ground.” Said Mirkell, then she bit into Txzarn’s arm. He barely flinched, and after a moment, Mirkell’s injuries began healing, and she stood back up. “Ready then? Let’s get moving” said Txzarn. He ran over to where his berserker was fighting and yelled “Get the bio core!”. The berserker did as it was told, and he took over its fight with Maxwell. Shadow and Reaper were still fending off the bio core when Txzarn’s berserker charged into the fight. It tackled Reaper out of the way, and a wildly swung punch knocked Shadow aside. The bio core threw a punch at it, but the berserker caught the fist with ease. Its hand then started to stretch and engulf the bio core’s arm. At that moment Reaper yelled “Not on my watch!”, and threw his sword at them like a boomerang. The sword severed the bio core’s arm, and the two leapt away from each other. But instead of continuing to fight, the berserker ran back to Txzarn, and without hesitation, the two began to form back together.
It was a gruesome sight; with blood everywhere and bones splintering as two skeletons merged into one. The inhuman screams were muffled by gurgling blood as lungs and organs were torn apart and forced back together. Finally, there was a brief silence as Txzarn got up from his knees, and said “Sorry I can’t stay to finish you off Maxwell, but we’ve got what we came for. Come on Mirkell! We’re running low on time”. And before Shadow and the others could react, Mirkell had grabbed her RIFT board and Txzarn had sprouted his wings, and the two were on their way back up to the surface. “Should we go after them?” asked Reaper. “No” replied Shadow. “Them might have ‘gotten what they came for’, but we still have all our bio cores, so we accomplished our goal as well”.
"That was entertaining" said Recora, who had been covertly watching the fighting from another realm. "Yeah" said a woman standing next to him, who had one demon-like wing, and one angelic wing.” And I expected the light almighty to win this time." she said. "Well Lorona, I told you that he'd be too arrogant about it. I still believe it will either be the Water or the Alchemy almighty left at the end." said Recora in a tone as close to 'cheery' as he could get.
Somewhere in Xeo’narc… “Ookamishi, how’d your mission in Sarvirose go?” said a man in a very official looking military uniform. “Unfortunately, it didn’t go well. You’ve heard of that mercenary group called the Chaos Forces, Right? The Kripians hired them for protection”. Said Ookamishi, his wolf ears drooping and his usual grin nowhere to be seen. “Yeah, we kinda got our asses kicked…” Said Kirishi under his breath. The military man sighed, and said, “This only complicates things more. Not only your screw up, but Txzarn’s group also had trouble. I think we’ll jump the rest of the missions ahead, so that we can hopefully avoid more problems. Rest up, tomorrow you three are going to pay a visit to the Chaos Forces with an extra member for insurance, while the other squads start their missions early”. “Understood sir, thanks for giving us an opportunity for revenge” said Ookamishi, bowing slightly. “Just don’t screw up again” said the military man, walking away. The next day: Somewhere on Long Island… “Alright Kageshi, you haven’t fought these guys before, so let me fill you in a little. Of their best warriors, there are mainly berserkers, spirit hunters, and cyborgs. There are a few extremely powerful ones who we don’t know enough about.” Said Ookamishi. “Which ones are they? I’ll keep them out of the way while you guys get the rest, then we’ll finish them as a group.” Said an unfamiliar person in the group. He had pure black hair and eyes, and pale gray skin with bands of green Promethious marks running along his arms. “First, there’s Jey, who uses water Promethious along with a lot of sword play. The reason he’ll be hard is because of his berserker abilities; last time he beat us while hardly using them, so if he uses them this time, it could get really bad.” Said Hebishi as his snakes searched around for the entrance to the underground base. “And the other big threat is this guy called Ro. As soon as he showed up last time is when it started going downhill for me. There are no files on him, and the only thing I learned fighting him was that he’s extremely strong and seems to never run out of energy. Luckily, it seemed like he wasn’t too skilled with regeneration.” Said Ookamishi, obviously still annoyed by the fact that he lost. “Hey, I found an entrance! And there’s only 2 guards” yelled Hebishi. “Good. Let’s go invite ourselves in then.” Said Kirishi with a grin.
Psycho could hear fighting in the distance. There had just been an explosion in the underground fortress of the geo-front, and everyone started running, yelling to call every soldier to the north entrance. Psycho was the first of the elites to arrive at the devastation created by the Xeo’narcian berserkers, and Hawkeye was right behind him. As soon as Hawkeye saw them, he stopped dead in his tracks. “No way… They’re dead… They can’t be alive!” he exclaimed. “Why, who’re they?” asked Psycho. “You remember the mission in the dead zone? These are the guys who we fought there.” Said Hawkeye. “But we beat them before, so we can do it again!” Hawkeye pulled out his gun and fired two shots with deadly accuracy, each bullet passing strait through Hebishi’s eyes. Psycho unsheathed his sword, which became engulfed in swirling flames as he charged at Kirishi, who was closest to him.
Chaos and Jey had just arrived on the other side of the mayhem. But as soon as they approached the fighting, a pair of hands reached out of the ground, grabbed Jey by the feet, and pulled him into his own shadow. Before Chaos even noticed Jey was gone, Ookamishi had appeared in front of him.
“Hey, it’s dog boy! I thought we killed you back in Sarvirose.” Said chaos confidently. “Dog boy? Ookami means wolf, jackass! Not like it matters much, though. You’ll be dead soon anyways no matter what you call me.” Said Ookamishi, now slightly agitated. Then, with blinding speed, he attacked with a barrage of punches that sent Chaos tumbling backwards. “If you thought I was fast back in the dead zone, then you’re in for a whole new world of pain here.” Ookamishi said; his wolf ears perked up and a grin spread across his face.
Jey had been taken completely off guard. The hands had pulled him into what seemed to be a world of shadows, on the ground he could see that he was looking through the shadows in the real world. "Alright, show yourself so I can kill you and get out of here." said Jey, unsheathing both of his katanas. "Impatient, aren't you?" said a voice that echoed out from nowhere. "But if you want to die so soon, then I might as well get on with it." At that moment Kageshi walked into view through the shadowy wall of a dark building. As he walked forward, a sword formed in his hand out of a dark, swirling shadow. Jey charged at him, but when he slashed through Kageshi body, it turned into a shadowy cloud and faded away. "A Fake..." Jey said as he looked around to see if anyone had used it as a distraction to sneak up on him. However, he saw no one, but a kunai suddenly flew by his head from behind. Again, there was no one there when he turned. "I know you’re around here somewhere" said Jey, walking around cautiously. He knew the person controlling the place was in there somewhere, he could feel it. Then another kunai soared past him, and he had seen this one come out of thin air. It was then he knew how he had only one way to fight this person: He had to use his own berserker abilities. "I don't want to do this but it looks like I don't have a choice" he said, and he prepared to release his first two psych-locks.
Thor had just arrived at the fighting, and was shocked to see Chaos fighting Ookamishi. "I thought we got rid of you back in the dead zone" Thor said in his echoing metallic voice. "Can't kill me that easy, sparky. But this isn't about revenge either." Ookamishi said. "We just got lucky enough to be ordered to take down your group while the others attack the other major militaries and nation." "So there are more like you?" asked Thor, half out of curiosity, half to give Chaos time to pull out his spirit sword. Ookamishi smirked, then said, "I wouldn't say like us; each group is made up of a specialized unit. Mine is the berserker unit." Chaos chose to strike right then, stabbing Ookamishi through the back. The berserker gave a slight laugh. "Didn't you try this before? Can't you learn from your mistakes!" he yelled, pulling himself off the blade with the same lightning speed as all his movements, then turning to grab the blood-covered sword. But just as he was about to touch it, a bolt of lightning from Thor hit him, stunning him enough for Chaos to stab him again, this time grabbing onto him afterwards. "Thor, you help the others, I'm taking dog boy to the gate!" yelled Chaos, just before the two of them disappeared.
Hidden in the distance, Kageshi watched as Jey release some of his psych-locks. His Promethious mark began to glow, dimly at first, then they became brighter. Then, cracks began to form out from the Promethious marks in a glass-like manner. Kageshi could tell that things were about to get harder. The final change was a third eye, which opened in the center of Jey's forehead. Suddenly, he looked strait toward where Kageshi was hiding, and with blazing speed he dash to the shadowy wall of the building and slashed through the lower walls. The force of the attacks crippled the support, and the building came crashing down. As he ran to get out before it fell, Kageshi was thinking to himself, "Just how many psych-locks did he just release?! This'll be harder than I thought if he can keep moving that fast." When Kageshi jumped through a window to get out of the collapsing structure, Jey jumped right in front of him and slashed; and although he had blocked the blades with his remaining kunai knives, the force sent Kageshi flying back into, and through, the building. But just seconds after, an arm made of swirling shadows burst through the walls, grabbed Jey out of the air, and slammed him into the ground below. When he got back up, Jey found that one of his katanas had gotten broken to pieces in the impact. Then, several more shadow arms burst through the rubble of the building, reaching out at Jey again. But he dodged them all easily; now that he was on the ground again he sped out of the way of the attacks with little difficulty. When Jey got to the remnants of the building, Kageshi leapt out of the debris and blasted him with several balls of dark, spinning, energy, which destroyed his other katana and blew off part of his arm. However, to the surprise of both of them, Jey's arm reformed with water, which then turned into flesh to regenerate the missing limb. "So that's what Recora meant when he said only an almighty can kill other almighty" said Jey. "So you can regenerate, so what!" said Kageshi. "You still can't beat me. This is my world, and I control it all!"
Meanwhile in the gate, Chaos was keeping Ookamishi on his toes. In the gate, Chaos could move faster than in the real world, and he had both his real arms. But Ookamishi was still just regenerating any damage inflicted on him. Then Ookamishi let out more of his berserker power, and the stalemate broke. Chaos couldn't keep up any more, and was getting hit harder and harder every time. Ookamishi grabbed both of Chaos's swords, and kicked him hard enough to break his grip on the handles. Before Chaos could get up, Ookamishi had one of the swords pressed down onto his neck. "Hey dog boy... I wouldn't kill me if I was you." said Chaos. "And why not? I came to kill all of you, and that's what I'm going to do!" said Ookamishi with a sinister grin. "If you kill me, you'll never get out of here. You'll be trapped, and I'll have taken you to the grave with me in a sense." said Chaos, hoping that the berserker didn't know that he would become a spirit hunter if he killed him, which would make it so he could escape. Ookamishi paused for a second, his grin gone, then said, "Who's to say I can't just force my way out?" After saying that, Ookamishi stepped aside, tossed Chaos' sword away, and let out as much of his berserker that he knew he could control; He grew claws and a wolf tail, and his teeth turned into fangs. He then built up energy in his hands. After a minute he thrust out his arms and started pulling his hands apart as if he was opening double doors; tearing an opening in between, through which he could see the real world. As he continued to pry open the opening, Chaos grabbed his swords and disappeared back to the real world. Then he stabbed trough the hole Ookamishi was making and directly into his head, and Chaos pulled it out just before the hole closed shut. "Your not getting out that easy, now stay." said Chaos.
Jey knew now that he couldn't die, but he also knew that he wasn't going to win at this rate either, so he decided he had to release himself even more. He dodged another attack, then let a few more psych-locks. The glowing cracks spread out more, then a pair of feathered wings erupted from his back. As he released one more lock, several eyes opened randomly across his body and arms. "Having trouble with me are you? You can go full berserker and you still won't be able to kill me!" said Kageshi arrogantly. Jey said nothing, but disappeared in a blur of speed, and reappeared when his fist smashed through Kageshi's rib cage, then punching him in the head hard enough to snap his neck backwards. Then Jey disappeared again, this time reappearing behind Kageshi and punching completely through him several times. Kageshi's regeneration was now too slow to keep him whole between attacks, so in response he released his own powers to as far as he could control them and again, the balance of power shifted. Kageshi was now keeping up with Jey's speed, and regenerating from his injuries so fast it was like he wasn't even hit in the first place, and now Jey was the one having a hard time staying in one piece. He didn't want to, seeing as he was already struggling to keep control of his own mind, but Jey he knew had to do it; He released all of his psych-locks, and went full berserker. First, a second, smaller pair of wings burst from his back, followed by the extra eyes disappearing, and finally, the cracks spread across the rest of his body, and shattered apart, leaving a glowing teal figure with four wings and a third, glowing red, eye. The shear amount of energy that was pouring out of him was making the shadow world unstable, causing the darkened buildings to crumble. Kageshi was stunned that this man in front of him could cause so much destruction just by standing there. Then Jey raised one arm, his opened hand pointed at Kageshi, forming a sphere of shining gold energy in front of it. Then the sphere, which resembled a tiny sun, rapidly expanded, it's burningly bright edges rushing forward at Kageshi. As the attack continued growing, Kageshi knew he couldn’t outrun it or dodge it, so he used his last option, and put up his hands and tried to block it. However, the sphere just kept coming, and Kageshi was engulfed in the inferno of energy, screaming in agony as his body was vaporized. Soon the attack stopped and dissipated, leaving nothing but a dark expanse of nothing. Now without anything to kill, Jey's berserker let itself drift back into submission, letting the psych-locks restart. Once Jey was back in control, the massive energy that was fueling the shadow world disappeared, and the world suddenly shrank. As it closed in around Jey, he was forced through a shadow and back into the real world.
This entire time, Hebishi had been fighting Hawkeye and Thor, who were both wearing out, and knew they were losing. They were constantly dodging and destroying his shadow snakes, but he just created more and more, always keeping them between him and his opponents. Whenever Hawkeye or Thor attacked long-range, Hebishi’s snakes would block it for him, making it impossible to hit him at all.
Psycho had been fighting with Kirishi alone, but he still wasn’t tired, or at least he didn’t let it show. Kirishi had him surrounded with fog, and kept appearing and disappearing, while attacking in between. Whenever he came out of the mist, Psycho would block the attack and strike back before Kirishi could fade into the mist again. Knowing he wasn’t getting anywhere fighting the way he was, so he yelled “Hey, Hawkeye, Thor, let’s switch fights!”. “Sure thing, you can probably take this guy better than us anyways!” yelled back Hawkeye. Right then, the three of them all broke into a run, passing each other in the middle. Psycho leapt into the air, tightly gripping his sword as he increased the flames coming out of it, and slashed down at Hebishi. The assassin saw him coming though, and made a shadow snake shoot up at his flaming opponent. Psycho swung his sword, throwing a stream of fire in the process, which burned up the snake and continued passed it, hitting Hebishi in the head. Blinded by the flames covering his face, Hebishi attacked wildly, but Psycho stabbed him from behind, then blasted fire from the hilt of his sword, which burned a hole strait through Hebishi’s body. However, he quickly put himself out, and he wounds healed over. “It’ll take a lot more than that to kill me, I still got a lot of strength left!” laughed Hebishi, as he prepared to attack again. Before either of them could do anything else, a hand suddenly burst through Hebishi’s body, then threw him into the ground. The arm belonged to Ro. “Why do ya always have to show up late? Do you like stealin’ the show or something?” said Psycho sarcastically. “No, I wouldn’t show up at all if I didn’t have to save your asses time after time.” Said Ro, returning the sarcasm. While they had been talking, Hebishi had gotten up and healed. He shot a shadow snake at Ro, who caught its head with one hand and crushed it. Then he grabbed Hebishi by his face, and blue electricity started sparking across his hand. After a moment, Hebishi was just hanging there, motionless, and Ro tossed him aside. “What did you do to him?” asked Psycho. “I stole all his energy. That’s how I keep becoming more powerful; by absorbing the energy and abilities of my opponents.” said Ro. “But let’s go help the others out now”. Thor and Hawkeye were holding up better against Kirishi, but when they saw Ro coming towards them, they knew it was over. Ro came up behind Kirishi and pierced his hand into his back, again with the blue electricity. Kirishi tried to turn into mist to get away, but he’d already used up a lot of his energy fighting, and Ro was taking the rest. A moment later, Ro pushed his hand farther through Kirishi, grabbed his heart, and crushed it. “That’s two down.” said Ro. “Chaos is trying to keep another one trapped in the gate, but he’s banged up pretty bad. We also lost track of Jey.” said Hawkeye to Ro. “Okay, I’ll help Chaos out, the rest of you, go find Jey. There could be more than just these three intruders, so be on guard.” Said Ro, who then started going over to where Chaos was.
Jey was worn out, but his almighty abilities were helping to restore some of his strength. He was looking around for the others when he noticed the distant sounds of battle were disappearing, being replaced by an eerie silence. Back where his fight started, an arm came up through the shadows, but it barley resembled anything human; it was completely black and blood red, then the head came out. It had a single horn coming out of its head, which was elongated like an animals, with a mouth full of fangs, and black eyes with swirling pupils of red. As it came farther out of the shadow it’s lizard like tail came out. It stood, slightly hunched over, then let out a bloodthirsty roar. Kageshi had gone full berserk. Jey heard the sound, the he felt the massive amount of energy approaching; it was Kageshi. He turned around, but what he saw wasn’t what he expected, but instead a monstrous black and red creature was charging towards him. He went to grab his katanas, but when he felt the empty sheaths, remembered that they’d been broken in his last fight. Before he could do anything, Kageshi swung his transformed fist at Jey, connecting with the side of his head, sending his smashing into the wall of a building. Jey instantly released several Psych locks, and just as his wings were forming, Kageshi uppercutted him so hard that he flew into he air, and crashed through the top of the geo-front, and out into the night. Kageshi followed him by turning into a swirling mass of shadows and floating up through the hole. When he reformed on the other side, however, he was met face to face with a fully released berserker Jey. With a combination of his berserker and almighty powers, Jey made an enormous wall of water rise up along the shore. The wall morphed into hundreds of arms, which all rushed towards Kageshi, trying to gab him. Once one hand grabbed him, water rushed all around, incasing him in a big bubble of water. Jey’s hand lifted up at the sphere, his hand then clenched shut, and the water compacted inwards, putting immense pressure onto Kageshi. But the berserker resisted the force, although he still couldn’t move enough to escape. Jey’s berserker knew he had to do a lot more than before to kill this opponent, so it decided to put every bit of power it had into a single attack. In his free hand he formed another ball of golden energy, but this time he kept pumping in more and more energy, while continually concentrating it back to size. Soon, the glow of his released form faded from his legs up, until there was only a small portion left on the hand he was making the sphere with, then all four wings began to wither away. Finally, he got to the point where he barley had enough strength left in him to hold the massive power in his hand; Jey let the energy blast out as a beam, directly at Kageshi, and in an instant he was gone. The beam continued on out into the night sky, strait towards the moon. When it hit, it seemed like it stopped, but then it burst out of the other side, creating a hole completely through the moon. The energy of the sphere soon ran out, and the blast faded into space. Kageshi was now gone in every possible way. Jey was drained; He fell over on the ground, unconscious, but alive, and slowly recovering from the devastating attack.
Chaos was still fending off Ookamishi when Ro got there. “Let me get him next time he tries to get through, okay Chaos?” said Ro, who didn’t look at all like he’d just killed two god class berserkers. In fact, he didn’t even have a scratch on him. When Ookamishi tore open another hole from the gate, Ro reached through and grabbed him by the throat and pulled him through; then he smashed him into the ground by his head. Ookamishi tried to get back up, but Ro used the powers he’d taken from Hebishi to pin him down with shadow snakes. “You might have gotten me in the dead zone, BUT YOU’RE NOT WINNING THIS TIME!” yelled Ookamishi, who then spun his legs up, breaking free of the snakes and launching himself at Ro. He tried to punch him, but Ro caught his hand and snapped it backwards, then kicked Ookamishi, sending him flying back into and through the wall of a building. When Ookamishi jumped out again, he disappeared in a blur of speed, stopping in front of Ro to throw a barrage of punches at him, then he wound up and punched strait through him. But Ro grabbed the arm, and started to drain Ookamishi’s energy like he did to the others. Feeling his power fade, he tore his arm out of Ro and leapt backwards. “So that’s why you’re able to use Hebishi’s shadow snakes, you can’t take people’s powers” said Ookamishi, breathing heavily now. “Yes, and that’s why I never lose. The longer I fight someone, the more I take from them, until I have more of their strength then they do.” Responded Ro, whose injury was healing slowly. Before Ookamishi could even do another thing, two swords pierced his body; one was Chaos’s, the other one was Psycho’s. Then Ro ran up to him, and thrust his hand between the two blades, puncturing Ookamishi’s chest; then he clenched his hand around his spine. “Ya can’t get away from this one.” Ro said as he absorbed more of Ookamishi’s energy. “Heh, this is a first” muttered Ookamishi. “This’ll be the fist time I’ve ever let myself go full berserk… get ready to die!” After saying this, Ookamishi went limp, then suddenly sprung back up, his eyes now a swirl of black and green, and his muscles bulged out. Even with Ro ‘s draining grip around his spine, He swung his now muscle bound arm, connecting the punch right into Ro’s face hard enough to knock him back, pulling his arm back out in the process. Ookamishi lumbered forward, pulling off of the swords in his back, and threw several more punches at Ro, who dodged them all easily. But when one finally hit its target, it crushed the bones behind it and sending Ro flying back.
When Ro got up, he said “So you sacrificed your speed to increase your overall strength. An interesting choice, but it doesn’t matter any more.” Once he finished talking, Ro formed a ball of blue energy and rammed it into Ookamishi’s chest, then detonating it. The berserker was ripped apart by the explosion. When he tried to regenerate, he realized that between his attacks and Ro’s draining, he didn’t have enough energy left to heal. To try to use his last bit of power, he resealed his berserker, which indeed gave him back enough to regenerate himself. Unfortunately, when he stood up, he realized was surrounded by Ro, Chaos, Psycho, Thor, and Hawkeye. “You’re done dog boy.” said Chaos, pointing his sword at him. “Are you so dumb that you wouldn’t think I had a back up plan?!” yelled Ookamishi, who reached into his pocket, and pulled out a small, orange, pill. He tossed it in his mouth and ate it, and a moment later, he back flipped over them, full of energy again. “I’ll kill you next time, I swear it!” he yelled, before vanishing with speed as he dashed back out of the geo-front. “Clever” said Hawkeye, “An energy supplement to give him enough strength to get away from whatever he needs too. They don’t last long, but with his speed he’ll be long gone before it wears off.” “He was the last one. We gotta look for Jey now, I saw him get thrown up to the surface, so let’s start up there.” Said Chaos, his cloths still becoming more and more covered in blood by his open wounds. “No, you go get patched up.” Said Thor, “You’re the most injured off us, and you can’t regenerate. Me, Ro, and Hawkeye will find Jey.”
Soon they found Jey, lying in a big scorched area of the ground. Hawkeye looked up at the moon, and saw something stunning; there was now a visible hole going strait through the moon. “Did Jey do that?” he asked out loud. “That’s the what happens when two god-class berserkers fight at that kind of level.” Said Thor. Then Psycho said “Imagine what would have happened if that attack had gone down instead of up at the moon.” The three of them thought about it for a moment, then brought Jey down to the infirmary. When they told Chaos about the moon, he laughed, then said “that guy must have really pissed him off for him to attack like that.” His joke lightened the mood a little, and they were all able to get some well-deserved rest.
I know it took forever, but it IS really long, and I hope well worth it. now to work on profiles, pics, tech, and even, THEME SONGS! (possibly, as long as I can get a link or file of the songs onto the forums)
