Description: new school, old school, no school stuffs
amen666 - March 8, 2006 11:01 AM (GMT)
discuss anything about music...
may it be punk, metal, mainstream, underground, jazz, alternative etc...
as the topic starter, id like to ask if anyone here listens to "doom"?
LEHMANO - March 8, 2006 01:45 PM (GMT)
Doom?! di ako familiar pero I enjoy almost any kind of music mapa Japanese , Alternative, Pop-Rock, Marilyn Manson, Acoustic, at OPM.
" NO MUSIC NO LIFE " \m/
.Ix - March 8, 2006 03:14 PM (GMT)
if you're talking about doom metal, i used to, but i found it really boring eventually. i remember really liking Isis and not appreciating My Dying Bride.
amen666 - March 9, 2006 06:34 AM (GMT)
@.XI - how about anathema? i havent tried listening to isis yet. im much more onclined with early 90's doom before, like anathema, winter etc.. are you familiar with thergothon??
LEHMANO - March 9, 2006 10:11 AM (GMT)
DeathSong fave ko sa kanya \m/
Rairyuu Sho - March 9, 2006 11:57 AM (GMT)
Though my favorite genres are Rock and RnB, I like any other type of music, whether it be OPM, Hip-hop, dance, J-Pop, etc. as long as I like how it sounds.
Oh wait....I hate novelty songs, though.
accompany_on - March 9, 2006 12:25 PM (GMT)
i listen to:
pinoy rock except cueshe
acoustic artists (especially barbie)
jars of clay/ switchfoot/dsound
i also listen to jazz/classical music
instrumental/background music from rpg games.
snow - March 9, 2006 12:54 PM (GMT)
I perceive vocals as another instrument, and don't really listen to the lyrics. 'Cos of that, I can listen to any song from any end of the earth, as long as the singer has a nice voice. I only don't like screaming people and RnB/rap (which is somehow majority of what american music is. I miss the days when there were more alt.rock). I like songs similar to Venice type music (Italian?), semi-traditional chi-jap music (oriental sounds and instruments i.e. shamisen), creepy music (i.e. organ musics from old horror movies), and alt.rock
.Ix - March 9, 2006 01:15 PM (GMT)
don't know about Thergothon, and i've heard one Anathema album. i think it was called Serenity. not sure though. still didn't like it too much.
i mostly listen to Brutal/Technical/Regular Death Metal, some Grindcore, and some Folk Metal. haven't listened to a Doom album in months (the last one being Sunn O)))'s Flight of the Behemoth).
i don't like:
Melodic Death Metal
Hip Hop / RnB / Soul
"new" alternative. (yung kapanahunan ng The Calling, Hoobastank, etc)
poser punk (blink 182, Good Charlotte)
Rairyuu Sho - March 9, 2006 01:18 PM (GMT)
| I miss the days when there were more alt.rock|
I do, too. And some of our artists seem to do nothing but keep on reviving old songs.
Darn it. I suddenly miss Wolfgang and Razorback. *looks for old casettes*
It's kinda sad that there are only five of us in my class that like rock or alternative music. It did surprise me that one of my female classmates was a Dream Theater fan.
After having experienced salsa dancing, I've taken quite a liking to latin music. Yeah, I know it sounds gay. Not if you had a hot girl dance with you, though. :)
ayaphobia - March 10, 2006 04:31 AM (GMT)
Giniling Festival this band has been here since 2001 good thing that finally they're getting air time on nu with Psycho Sya! GO JE JE!
MUGENJOHNCEL - March 10, 2006 09:52 AM (GMT)
I love listening to Tori No Uta over and over again while my arms were stretched out and spinning repeatedly... only to trip and slam to the ground a few minutes later.
I love listening to Final Fantasy's One Winged Angel and pretend I was the all mighty sephiroth... only to be sliced and Diced by cloud a few minutes later.
I also listen to R4 music while pretending I still have a car... too bad my imaginary sports car in my make believe world just ran out of gas.
I also love listening J-Pop... too bad I can't understand a single word they were saying but hey... thats the good thing about music... it smashes language barriers and I don't mind if I cant understand them... they just sound so good!
Does anyone here loves Karen Carpenter music... or is it just me?
amen666 - March 10, 2006 10:10 AM (GMT)
the carpenters is a good band in respect to their musical genre :)
@.IX - i think the title of anathemas album is serenades. btw, have you tried listening to agalloch? lastly, what is your opinion about the local underground scene today?
@snow - try listening to abysmal grief
@Rairyuu Sho - you have a point there :) har har har
does anyone here listen to siesta, indie, etc, etc, and anything that is early 90's "except m.c. hammer, vanilla ice and the likes"
.Ix - March 10, 2006 12:14 PM (GMT)
yeah i've listened to Agalloch. i find it boring. :B
i don't know about the local metal scene, cause i haven't been to gigs in forever. i saw the Gbob contests though, and most of the metal stuff i saw was weak.
i used to listen to early 90s alternative along the lines of The Breeders, The Lemonheads, The Flaming Lips, Belly, Luscious Jackson, etc. i still find them nice to listen to from time to time.
Rairyuu Sho - March 10, 2006 12:27 PM (GMT)
*In a high pitched voice*
Siling giniling! Siling giniling! AH! AH!
 The first time I saw these guys was in Myx Live. They ruled.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren''t Green Day and Nirvana in the early '90s? If they were, then yeah I did listen to early '90s music.
amen666 - March 11, 2006 07:31 AM (GMT)
@.XI - :) i just find it funny how people react to doom :) but its nice though :) i totally agree about your reaction to "GBOB" although i found some bands there, a bit interesting. like "kalbaryo ni juan" (not sure with the bands name) the others, i think is more on the "popularity" thing going on during the contest? hmmm... (thinks about the idea)
@rairyuu sho - yes, both of them were from the early 90's. i was more into alternative and grunge during those years. (pearl jam, soundgarden, smoking popes "yey" and the other bands that .XI listed)
im not sure... but it seems to me that being inclined to underground music has to do with age and musical orientation?
.Ix - March 11, 2006 10:44 AM (GMT)
age? i don't think so. it's really just a matter of hearing it. i mean, i'm sure more people will be into something like Funeral Doom if they heard it a lot on NU or something.
yeah, i bet that's the common reaction to doom: boring. i used to find it really cool and emotional and unique back then, but i found all of that in other genres very quickly. i like fast, heavy music more than slow, heavy music, so i ended up leaving my Doom discs in the corners (and deleting them from my HDs.)
and please, please, get my name right. it's Ix. you can ignore the period because all it does is get me past the 3-character minimum. :D
amen666 - March 13, 2006 10:10 AM (GMT)
@.Ix - sorry about the typo.. i had kof XI running in my mind... what doom cd's do you still own? you have a buyer here if youd like to dispose some of those...
.Ix - March 13, 2006 01:24 PM (GMT)
theyre not legit CDs, but they're perfect quality ones.
Discjuggler'd from the originals, probably. i don't know which ones i still have.
i'm sure the following are here:
My Dying Bride - 34.88%... complete (?)
MDB - Turn Loose the Swans
MDB - The angel and the dark river (?)
Isis - Celestial
Moonspell - Wolfheart
i don't remember anything else.
+Anathema - Serenades.
amen666 - March 14, 2006 06:37 AM (GMT)
@.Ix - i have those cd's as well, except "isis - celestial" i used to have a band and we covered moonspell's alma matter, i think its the last trach in the wolf heart album. and mdb's cry of mankind. i also have black and trash materials like, overkill, slayer, taake, abruptum, absurd, hellhammer etc... and a few power metal. hammerfall, kamelot.
amen666 - March 15, 2006 06:50 AM (GMT)

.Ix - March 16, 2006 01:35 AM (GMT)
amen666 - March 16, 2006 06:45 AM (GMT)
@.Ix - he's one of the pioneers of the "bossa nova" genre. btw, do you listen to angel corpse? and do you have grind materials? mortician, napalm death etc...?
.Ix - March 16, 2006 12:48 PM (GMT)
yes, i love Mortician.
but i don't like Angel Corpse.
most of the grind i have was DLed off the net. examples:
Torsofuck - Torsofuck
Prostitute Disfigurement (all)
Mortician (all that i've seen ;D )
Cumchrist - Cumplete
amen666 - March 17, 2006 06:24 AM (GMT)
@.Ix - im not yet familiar with the other bands that youve mentioned :) so many bands to listen to... so little time...
.Ix - March 17, 2006 11:35 AM (GMT)
yeah. i used to DL 10 albums a day, but i stopped when i realized i could no longer even remember to listen to what i DLed.
LEHMANO - March 18, 2006 02:45 PM (GMT)

Queso needs your help! This should be fun If you have a video camera and you like to mess around with it please (if you have the time) shoot yourself or a bunch of your friends rocking out to the song "Insekta".You dont necesarily have to sing along with the song(but that would be fun too) you can just headbang or whatever. The camera shots should be still(meaning one angle only). We need footages with you in it for our next video. We can only use DV and AVI formats. If you can drop by any Queso gig kindly hand the tapes over to any member of the band. Masaya to!SALAMAT. Hope you can all be part of this. To get an idea, visit this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rqb9-qAYlwU
Anyone who gives us a video gets a free Queso shirt. Deadline is July 15th 2006
