I didn't feel like going into Photoshop and erasing the white cause Paint doesn't want to make the white transparent.

Tell me what you think. waycool.gif

What? No offence but what does that have to do with anything? The thing looks like it is made of cheese.

I've always seen the moon as more grey\white than yellows. Don't know, maybe you could change the shading on it?

I'm gonna have to agree with the others there. It surely does look like it's made of cheese. also IMO the craters are too regularly spaced and too similar in diameter...just my two cents

Battlehammer, no offence to you, but if you've ever looked at a picture of the moon, the craters are pretty regularly spaced out, and there is only so much you can do with 30 square pixels of space.

None taken, though I believe that if you put less craters with more varied radiuses it would be better. If you want I can post here my moon to show you what I mean....the new moon is an improvement.

too many craters, still too yellow, go with a blue hue which is very desaturated, make the outline affected by the craters, too many colours.

Interesting choice of subject.

I wont tackle colours in depth but I will say this; in this case you have too much contrast between the colours of the crators and the main surface. You also use far too many colours. I think for an image with as low contrast between areas as the moon 4 colours or so should be enough. (I have used the forums colours to demonstrate how versitile a good palette can be... and because I was to lazy to make a new palette.)

The moon is an interesting one, it is a circle and is placed on a very dark background so you can use a technique known as Anti-aliasing on the edges to blend it better.

with AA.

When Making something that is seen very often and you are trying to learn, use a reference.
This is what I got from using google to find me an image of where the crators are on the moon so to bring some realism to the table.

By using a reference I was able to more accurately depict how the crators look and what sort of formations they make, even if I was rather rough about it.

Good idea Zeid, I was thinking about that during Art class. I was thinking maybe I could pull the crators out and use the shades to depict the crator formations.

I added a new picture, I think it could use a little work around the door.
