These are questions and answers related to Onslaught. Questions and answers for the other Playr games and the forum can be found at: Forum, Zilch, Other Playr Games Big Damage Mods: 100% increase, not double? Isn't that the same as saying it doubles the actual turrets damage and that the effects of damage mods are not cumulative? Yes. '100% increase' is shorter than 'Doubles the actual turrets damage and the effect of damage mods are not cumulative' though. Which combos receive damage from laser chains? For as far I know, all combos involving laser turrets, except for the Poison Gas Rocket, the Black Hole and mines. Are the Combo damages in old FAQ accurate? Pretty much. What does RoF mean? The RoF value in game is shots per minute. Is it spelled 'turrent' or 'turret'? The correct spelling is turret. How to play challenges on custom maps? Enter challenge, choose a (normal) map, bring up the menu, press map mode (in the Game tab), load the map, and press play. How do you zoom in? Right click and press Zoom In. How do you move turrets? Select a turret and press M. Moving a turret costs $500. What does the Combonly do? There is a whole thread dedicated to explaining that here. When building a Combo with Rocket + Laser, should the RoF be equal in both turrets in order to avoid those skinny red rockets flying around? The 'skinny red rockets' are the normal rockets of the red turret. In order to not get them, the rate of the red turret needs to be as much, or less, than the combo recharge time. The combo recharge time for the laser rocket is about 2 seconds, so the red turret must only fire once per 2 seconds. Converted to RoF that is 30 or less. The green turrets RoF does not matter. But, in my opinion, it is useless to reduce the RoF to so low, because the 'skinny red rockets' don't have any influence to the laser rockets. How do you get Sandbox mode? Sandbox mode is unlocked by reaching 4000 kills in Medium mode. How can I maximize the quantity of Laser Rockets flying around? By sending waves. Make sure your rocket turret can reach the start of the road. When the rocket turret sees creeps it will shoot a combo. So you have to spam a little more waves each time to let the rocket turret see the creeps. Don't send too much though, or the laser rockets already circling won't be able to sustain the onslaught, and you'll die Is there a list of combos? Yes. When does the last weapon unlock? The last weapon you get is the Combonly turret. It is unlocked at 1600 kills. How do I beat Medium mode? Gewalt's guide to beating hard mode also works for medium mode. Do modifiers work on super turrets (Railgun, Sniper, Fusion)? No. What is the most powerful weapon? The laser chain is the most powerful. After that comes nukes. How do you beat the game? The game is unending, but to beat a mode you have to kill off beat 400 waves. What is better? A cluster bomb landmine or a cluster bomb (+ eventual damage mod in the extra space) Assuming you mean the big landmine (as there is no cluster bomb landmine), and by looking at the picture below, you'd say big landmine, as the 'effect' of cluster bomb is -, while big landmine is +/-. I was going to try a damage/cost calulation, but I noticed a big landmine and a cluster bomb are very different.. Cluster bombs explode too soon a lot, will only fire when a creep comes close and rockets come out of it. The big landmine, on the other hand, only does damage when a creeps walks over it, so it is 'stackable'. Also, when you combonly the combo, there is no 'extra space'. So, undecided. ![]() In the above image, what do +'s and -'s mean? The more +'s, the more effective it is. So a nuke is very effective, while a Black Hole or a Poison Gas Rockets are effectively useless (on their own). Would it be useful to chain a big laser cluster bomb or a big laser cluster bomb landmine? I'd say no. Both combo's require a lot of space, which is better filled with green turrets. Also, land mines usually cause a lot of lag, whereas the cluster bombs have this thing to explode before contact. That and I do not know what sure exactly where the damage from the laser chain goes.. Blast damage, cluster rocket damage, etc.. Is it possible (with the targeter-to-targeter linking) to link 10 turrets (directly or indirectly) to a single targeter in front? Yes. Does the creep have to be in range of the linked-to turret as well as the targeter, or just the targeter? Just the targeter. Does the targeter work directly with laser chain? No. What are some advantages to using the targeter? You can shoot at creeps outside the turret's range. Does the Rate of the Targeter actually have any influence? I think the rate of the targeter is the rate at which is searches for targets. It doesn't influence how fast the turrets shoot through the targeter. When is the onslaught with a modding interface coming out? It's out! How do you beat hard mode? Gewalt's guide provides a very good way to beat hard mode. Can you beat hard mode without using a laser chain? For as far as we know, no. The creeps come too fast and you have too little money to keep out with the rapidly increasing amount of creep health, but after the first 200 waves or so the gameplay will be very similar to easy and medium, so you will be able to pass the 400 waves mark with other combo's, such as nukes. What does 'AoE' stand for? AoE stands for Area of Effect, meaning it doesn't do single target damage, but over an area. For example, the blast of the nuke is it's Area of Effect. Sometimes also known as 'splash damage'. How is laser chain damage calculated? Starting from the tail, each laser multiplies the existing damage from the chain by 1.25 and then adds it's own damage. Why upgrade the head and tail first in a laser chain? The head is upgraded very first in order to make sure the combo is running. After that, damage is upgraded from the back to the start, because damage has much more significance at the tail than at the start, because it is multiplied more. For example, in a 50 turret laser chain, the last turret's damage gets multiplied by 1.25 49 times, while the damage of the second turret gets only multiplied by 1.25 1 time. What does the damage x number in the game menu mean? The damage x number means that the turret's damage is modified, and it shows how. When it shows x9, it means that the base damage is multiplied by 10, because 9 damage modifiers are covering it. When it shows x0.4, the damage is multiplied by 1.4. The number before the x is base damage. How does the targeter work? This blogpost should explain all. How does directional targeting work? This is explained well in this blogpost. How do I put my self-made maps on the Onslaught site? When saving, you tick the 'Share' box and input your Playr account username and password. Can Fusion turrets overcharge? No. How can I see 'new' maps? There currently is no option for new maps, just random and popular. Remember they are only updated every 10 minutes! You can find the maps here. How can I see the maps that I created There is no special place where you can see 'your' maps, but if you remember the names you can always play them by using the following URL, where 'mapname' is the name of your map:
If you unlock sandbox mode is it saved when you log on again? Yes. This is only reset if you delete your flash cookies. How do I reset my flash cookies? A cleaner like CCleaner can do this easily. When you sell a turret, how much money do you get? You get 70% back off your total costs (initial price + upgrades). |

1. Big Damage Mods: 100% increase, not double? Isn't that the same as saying it doubles the actual turrets damage and that the effects of damage mods are not cumulative?
For example... A turret delivering a damage of 1 million with one Damage Mod does 2 million? Add a 2nd Damage mod and it does 3 million instead of 4 million? |

Which combos receive damage from laser chains?
Are the Combo damages in old FAQ accurate? Any info about RoF? At least something? And is it supposed to be "turrent"? |

Because Gaby set it that way. Maybe jokingly, maybe because he thought that was the right spelling.

Kind of. It basically is a 'database' of questions, so I don't have to answer them more than once. The other 'FAQ's are more or less just giving information.

Whenever I play the challenge, it shows the normal maps, 2 empty slots, and a back button. Where's the map mode button?? Please post a screenshot. |
