Unfortunately, as of 9th July, Sega has decided to permenently take down the 50Hz servers. This will mean that people without 60Hz compatible TV sets will be forced to buy newer versions. However, a lot of people also don't know how to switch between 50Hz and 60Hz. By default, PSO uses 50Hz, but, if your TV is 60Hz compatible (which most are), you can make the change by holding down the B button (NGC) whilst turning the Gamecube on, and keeping it held down until you are presented with a screen asking whether you wish to switch. If recently you've found yourself being automatically disconnected as soon as you get to the ship select screen, then this will be because you are in 50Hz mode.
