Missions always made Bellatrix happy. Who didn't want to go around torturing and killing people? No one. Clearly. Anyone who didn't want to do that ought to be tortured and killed. It made life very simple. Well, maybe the pureblood people who weren't fighting didn't want to do that, but they were clearly weaker than she was. Minus the women, since in general they weren't supposed to be fighting but they might want to fight and not be able to. It was hard to tell. Bellatrix thought they should all stay out of the Death Eaters. There were far too many women anyhow. It should be her and her alone.
In general, Bellatrix hated the other females who had infiltrated the Death Eaters. She had wanted to be the only one before she had joined, with her male counterparts saying how she shouldn't be allowed to join because she was a woman. She had proved her worth, and while she was a supporter of her sex, she didn't believe these other women were all that great magically speaking. What did they have that was so special? Nothing, minus the fact they couldn't seem to get husbands. Duty was still a strong thing in her mind and these other women were shirking their duties. Bellatrix was married and fighting. And once the war was over she would have children. That was how things were done.
Bellatrix viewed the fight of the Death Eaters to be not only ridding the world of mudbloods and muggles but also preserving her way of life. Pureblood society was how things should be done, and people should stick to those proprieties. Most of them anyhow. The male chauvinistic attitude she could do away with. There was no reason for them to think they were better at anything other than having a penis.
While on most of her missions she was accompanied by men, tonight was a different case. Actually, in general most of the time she was accompanied by her husband. They tended to make good partners, people didn't stand for long if the Lestranges showed at their door. But Rodolphus was not working with her tonight. She didn't know what he was doing tonight, other than he wasn't expected back until morning. Which was disappointing, because she preferred to come home to him. He was very virile after a mission and she always felt alive, and one thing usually led to another. It would be depressing to go back to an empty manor. Maybe her and Alecto would have to do something after the mission so she didn't wander about the manor wide awake until Rodolphus came home.
He had long ago headed out for whatever he was doing for the night. She was due to meet Alecto in a few minutes outside of Ottery Saint-Catchpole. A family there had been marked for destruction and they got to do the happy honors. Mother, Father and young son who had just gotten his Hogwarts letter for next year. Mudbloods the lot of them. Two mudblood parents, which technically made the kid a halfblood but not in Bellatrix's eyes. Not when you came from scum like that.
Pulling her hair back into a bun so her gender would remain a secret, Bellatrix grabbed her mask. It wouldn't go into place quite yet, not until they had reached their destination. It was important for them to clarify the place first. It was dark so it was unlikely anyone would see them. Not in the black robes she was clothed in, and not since they would be meeting in a clump of trees. Their target could be then double checked, masks put on and the attack started.
Nerves tingling in excitement, Bellatrix spun on her heel, reappearing in a small grove of trees on the outskirts of Ottery Saint-Catchpole, waiting for her fellow Death Eater to arrive.

While missions didn't get Alecto all giddy and happy, they did entertain her, and when she was bored, they did lighten her mood quite a bit. Alecto was happy to go on a mission whenever, it's not like she would ever protest to one, but she didn't think they were all that and a bag of galleons. But Alecto would much prefer to go on a mission than stay at home, like many women do. This brought her to the conclusion that she was much happier being a Death Eater than being just a regular pureblood woman who was to be suited to a man for marriage. Alecto just couldn't see herself married, nor could she see herself as a housewife. Alecto didn't stay at home and raise children; she went out and did whatever the hell she pleased, to a certain extent of course.
In pureblood society, women are supposed to get married to other pureblood men and give them sons to be the heirs of their family. They are to stay at home and raise these sons, and go out to pureblood fancy parties and do other things like that. Alecto knew that very well, as did every pureblood woman, but unlike many, she didn't want that. She wanted to be out in the action, to have her freedom. Plus, she hated kids. She did not want to be stuck at home with a bunch of brats. This may be a disrespectful, nontraditional, and selfish move on her part, but she didn't care. Her mother often protests on how she should be thinking about marriage, and working on her manners (they're still very underdeveloped), and not out in the world doing God-knows-what. Alecto usually ignores this, though.
Usually on missions, Alecto went with Amycus. Sometimes, though, she got assigned with someone else for reasons unknown to her. She enjoyed missions with Amycus because it was definitely more fun with him. He was her brother, after all, and she felt more comfortable around him. She didn't feel the need to prove herself all the time around him. With other people, who were usually men, she always, always, always had to prove herself and work extremely hard to be better than them, and most times, she wasn't, she was usually at some equal level to them.
Today, though, she'd really have to work to prove herself. Today she was to go on a mission with Bellatrix, who was probably one of the highest ranking Death Eaters. Alecto didn't hate Bellatrix at all, and on some levels, she respects and looks up to her. Alecto would never go against what Bellatrix says, although that's mainly because she doesn't want to get on her bad side, which is probably a smart move. Today, a mudblood home in Ottery Saint-Catchpole was set for attack, and Alecto and Bellatrix were sent to do it.
Alecto was supposed to meet Bellatrix in a minute or two in a clump of trees near the mudblood settlement, and after quickly throwing her up in some sort of bun-like thing so her hair doesn't get in the way, and grabbing her mask, she apparated to the grove. Feeling only a few seconds of the pressure and nausea, she found herself now in the grove.
Alecto appeared there within seconds, and saw Bellatrix already there. They were both dressed in black robes, so they blended in quite well with the dark. "'Lo Bellatrix." She said quietly, walking over. Alecto could feel her excitement building up, but she forced herself not to show it. She could show her excitement later, not now.

Good. Alecto wasn’t late. Bellatrix hated it when she went on a mission with someone and they were late. It fucking wasted her time. Not to mention it prolonged her wait. She wanted to torture and murder and when that was put off she tended to get grumpy. No one wanted to deal with a grumpy Bellatrix because if she got too pissed off she was liable to throw a Crucio at her companion before attacking the target. If you detained Bella’s fun, she made sure it wasn’t a mistake repeated. Missions were fun, torture was fun, and in the end there was always one less blight on the world.
Bellatrix wasn’t entirely sure of Alecto’s abilities. They hadn’t spend that much time together since graduating from Hogwarts due to Bellatrix being far more concentrated on getting into the Death Eaters, she didn’t pay that much attention to anyone she wasn’t especially close with and she wasn’t like that with Alecto. They were friendly, and Bella didn’t view her as a threat to her position in the Death Eaters. Or rather, a threat to her relationship with The Dark Lord. How the Dark Lord viewed her was extremely important to Bellatrix and she wasn’t going to let any other girl get close enough to jeopardize that. She guarded her position with the Death Eaters fiercely. You took your life in your hands if you were a girl and tried to get too close.
But Alecto seemed to be content with her place, wherever it was. Bella didn’t get that tinge of needing to eliminate her whenever they were in the same room. Which boded well for Alecto. Maybe it was because they had gone to school together and Alecto had never really gotten on Bellatrix’s nerves. People who annoyed her in school she hadn’t grown into liking but those she tolerated then she didn’t feel the need to hate, usually. Not all people fell into such categories, but Alecto did.
Bellatrix nodded a greeting at Alecto before pulling her mask on and raising the hood of her robe so that all her features were obscured from view. Then, Bellatrix headed towards the house. She had already scouted to make sure it was the correct location, it hadn’t been difficult, the grove of trees near enough by to check. Time for the signature Death Eater attack move-surprise. While most people were told to be on their guard, when they returned home, to a place they considered safe, usually the guard let up a bit. Which was stupid, hardly anyone got attacked during the daylight hours or at a business or any place other than people’s homes. It was easier to know where someone was at home, and that the person targeted was the person being attacked. Muggles got attacked during the day, because they couldn’t accurately describe what was going on should a witness manage to survive, but anyone who was even in the slightest bit magical got attacked at night.
Stupid mudbloods thinking their home was safe.
Heading towards the door with purpose, Bellatrix blasted it open with a flick of her wand, the wooden object flying inwards off the hinges. Usually the shock of their door blowing inwards shocked people too much to immediately grab for their wands. Mark of a bad wizard in Bella’s opinion. Wands should be on a person at all times and easily grabbed whenever anything went wrong. Her first reaction was always to go for her wand. ALWAYS. It was her weapon, it was stupid to go for anything else.
These mudbloods seemed to be like most, no spell shot towards the doorway as she entered, followed by Alecto. No indication that the people who lived here had grabbed their wands. She heard pattering of feet up stairs, someone had gone on a run, from the sound of it probably a child but just in case Bellatrix cast an anti-disapparation jinx on the house. No one was leaving except her and Alecto and that would be after this filth was dead. It would be amusing if they tried to use Floo to escape, their house had been disconnected just for this event. The benefit of having people who working in the ministry under Death Eater control –or Death Eaters themselves. Anyone who tried to escape through the fire would find themselves getting burned. Quite literally.
It appeared the family had attempted to hide rather than stay and fight. How unoriginal. No matter, a little game of cat and mouse could be quite fun. There was always magic to help along the way. The mudbloods didn’t stand a chance.
