physical features;
Starting from the top, Charlies's full head of honey hair cannot be missed. A tumbleweed of chestnut locks cascade down right past her shoulder, precisely flowing with elegance's touch. On humid days, however, grace is not so kind. Polished strands turn into a mess of frizz, and oh, what her mother would say if she saw her young lady looking like that! Naturally, Charlie prefers her hair shorter (particularly to her shoulders). She can never let her hair grow past the middle of her back, or else she would not be able to stand buying full bottles of shampoo every other week.
Her petite face curves into a circle, round with soft and easy features. Her eyebrows remain dark and untouched, and her chunky nose compacts into a narrowly large display. Cheeks full of flesh, they make up the bulk of Charlies's face, and resting delicately on each side are two perfectly scooped out dimples residing innocently. Her overall face structure remains childlike and almost sincere, one that is in particular contrast to her rowdy personality.
Her eyes are an almond shaped mold, little slits the reside closer to her forehead. A shade of crystal blue, almost light enough to be a gray, shine through her thin lids. Bright and passionate, her eyes truly display the effect of her emotions. A variety of long, separated lashes decorate the ends, fanning out her face like wind. Her mouth, not too thick yet not too thin, edge closer to her dominant chin. Her teeth are longer than normal, and her upper gums show off a more flashy pink spectacle.
Compared to the rest of her body, her head weighs in at a larger sight. The two coincide at disproportional figures, giving her the 'bobble head' effect. Charlie has a generally slender shape, nothing that divides her into extremes. She is in no way burly and most certainly not athletic; her arms and legs haul in scrawny form, pulling itself with half-hearten strength. She's rather small, barely reaching 5'4, and whenever criticized for this factor, Charlie merely states: "I'm not small, I'm fun-sized!"

overall personality;
Charlie Buchanan is nothing short of unique. There is a drum that beats to a rhythmic march, and she hears the beat and dances to her own song. Interests common to girls her own age fall short with her personality; make-up, designer clothes, and constant sex... their concerns mean nothing to her. Charlie never restricts herself to self-made plans or limited rules, and she enjoys watching pathetic crowds follow each other in a dignified line. She lives her life in her own direction, and extra input is just white noise clogging up the little holes. She dedicates herself to living as her own person, and in her mind, no one can step in the way of that.
Despite the largeness of her family, Charlie is fiercely independent. She spends most of her time doing what she wants, not what others want from her. Though she enjoys large parties and crazy activities, they leave a far from intimate taste in her mouth, and she enjoys the liberating feel of independence. However, she manages most of her time with others, but Charlie never associates herself with people she cannot trust. Her heavy liberty hardly comes off as shyness or insecurity - she's far from that. Charlie tells it like it is, and she is never bothered by her the honesty of her thoughts, though most of the time, she can't control it. She speaks without thinking, often landing her into loads of trouble. She is bold with her feelings, and her willingness often leads her to more daring situations. Excited by the unknown, she takes whatever risks are laid out to her. The audaciously brave side overpowers her will to be widely accepted. She could care less of what people think about her.
Charlie has a type of loyalty that cannot be budged. She fights for what she believes in, whether it be right or wrong. She can't stand authority figures or rules telling her what to do; she's too spontaneous to control her actions, and her rebellious spirit can be greatly frustrating to handle. She remains easy-going throughout most situations, occasionally bursting into a variety of emotions. She tends to have a lot of energy, and with that, a lot of things to say. Charlie has an undeniable passion for the things she loves, and her affection cam be admirable. She is outgoing, allowing herself to be adaptable and flexible in new and unknown surroundings. She's a people person and looks to make others happy, and while she has a pretty big heart, Charlie is very careful of those she lets in. It's not because she's particularly selective; it's because she gets too emotionally attached.
Clever and bright, Charlie never lacks in something witty to say. She is more street smart rather than book smart, and she has a budding intellect she keeps hidden under her sarcastic smile. Most people stereotype her as a random bubbly girl who's probably flunking all of her classes, but Charlie has her relatively smart enough moments. She just gets too lazy to do any real work. When the time comes that laziness is not an option, she forces herself to be hard-working, which evidently could be something extremely productive. (For example, glitter and scrapbooks.) Charlie lacks the sort of innocence that most girls love to bask in, and she remains a troubled tomboy from her household. She is rough and stubborn, and even the aspect of giving up without a fight is sacrilege. She laughs when things aren't funny, and she requires her voice to be heard. Charlie, no doubt, is the type of girl who will be in your face demanding questions and stubbornly yelling at you when you don't provide the answers she wants.

Miles Buchanan "Ah. Father. He's ancient. Sixty-five. Nah, he's cool. He works a lot though, even at his age. But when he's home, he's the life of the party! " Sandra Eneas Buchanan " My mother; she's sixty-three. She likes to use nannies. "
siblings;
" Oh boy, here we go: First there's Richard. He's Mr. Family Man. No, actually. He is. He's 33 and got this gorgeous wife and three kids, another on the way. And Richard works at the Ministry and everything. Just awesome. He's like Captain Awesome. Then there's Tessa. She's Miss 'No Funny Business'. What a dud. All she does is work, be a bitch, work, roll her eyes, and work. She's only 28 and manages to be the busiest woman on the planet. Like seriously. Get that stick out of your ass, Tess. Then there's NATHAAAN!. He's my buddy. We're basically best friends, despite the fact that he's 23. I really look up to this son of a bitch, despite him being... well. A bit edgy. He's kind of got this drug and alcohol problem, but he's a real good guy. Funny, too. He always makes me laugh and manages to make me feel better. I don't know what I'd do without him, and I really hope he cleans up soon. Finally, there's Brennan. Well, not finally. I'm last. But right before me is Brennan. He's pretty quiet and stuff. We're not that close, but he's really nice. He's too gentleman-like though. I swear, I've never seen him get angry in his life, and he's 21. It kind of freaks me out. "
other family;
" I've got a dog named Monster. He's the best thing ever. He humps everything he sees, and he's like 3248974 years old in dog years. "
history;
Sandra Eneas was on her way to become a very notable character within the walls of the Ministry of Magic. She was smart, level-headed, and had a great way of controlling people. She was manipulative and a bit too confident; Sandra was going to go far. She was going to be a great business woman, and perhaps, even one day, she would be th Mistress of Magic. Despite the unbelievable aspects of her dreams, no one really dared to step in her way. She was too strong-willed to review other options; Miles Buchanan, however, was other story.
Miles liked to drink. He liked to sing famous songs by the Weird Sisters on top of a table in whatever bar he was in. He liked to be goofy; he excelled at being goofy. He was as down-to-earth as they get, and he was so carefree, the prospect of having a steady home never bugged him. He lived off whatever he could manage; he was dirt poor and loved every minute of his life. Miles had no future goals or determined dreams. He had fun. Miles was fun.
Then one day, he was jamming along to whatever beat in his head, and he accidentally bumped into Sandra Eneas, and the moment he saw her, he knew. He was going to be the guy she fell for. He was going to be her greatest downfall. Sandra's papers flew everywhere, occupying the sidewalk they were walking on. An inevitable gasp escaped her lips as her eyes widened to indescribable proportions, and she fell to the floor, retrieving each item harshly and efficiently. Miles stared at her, then burst out laughing a minute later. Sandra proceeded to provide him a horrible glance, blaming her misfortune all on him. Miles gave a cheeky grin and bent down to help her. He then offered her to get a drink with him, which she declined most clearly, but he continued to insist. It came to a point where Miles might as well have been stalking her, and she caved in only to make sure he understood that in no circumstances she was doing this out of interest. I just pity you, Sandra said nonchalantly. Miles clicked his tongue and smiled. I would like you to pity me... real badly.
Despite the extreme contrasts in this situation, Miles ended up being right. Sandra found herself falling helplessly and hopelessly in love with an overgrown child. He would be her greatest downfall.
They were so incredibly different, no one thought it would work. She was too determined, he was too careless. She was intimidating, he was mischievous. It would be nothing but a symbiotic union, and everyone warned them this match was made for disaster. These forewarnings were constant, and while Sandra was one to always take precautions very seriously, her heart did not comply. Miles and Sandra were married three years later, in insurmountable love and bliss. They did everything they never thought they would do. Sandra put off work to spend time with her husband, Miles didn't touch a bottle of beer without her permission. They defied all odds; they were working. They were in love, and a year later, they gave birth to a baby boy named Richard.
Richard Buchanan was a godsend. He was the golden boy. He was the perfect son with the perfect intuition; his sense of right and wrong came with his birthright. Richard excelled in almost everything he did... his studies, his athletic skill, his relationships. He grew up with disciplined manners and strong self-reliance, his intellect shining along his very handsome smile. Richard was the ideal son, the ideal first born. His reliability was something his parents cherished, and his organization skills allowed him to become the absolute perfectionist. He basked in all his glory and forced himself to be a people pleaser as well; Richard was ambitious, almost like a little adult in his parent's eyes.
Then Tessa was born five years later. She grew up to be a spiting image of her mother, in more ways than one. Not only did she inherit the silky blond hair and the tall stature, she was just as intense as Sandra. She was strong-willed and self-reliant, so hard-working that it came to a point of concern. She let no one help her, and Tessa demanded to be the first at everything. She hated second place. She hated that Richard was first born and got all the immediate privileges. She hated that he was so perfect, so fantastic, so wonderful that their parents could never see no wrong in him. Tessa was determined to be the best. She wanted to outshine her brother in everything they did; she wanted to be the first to get a boyfriend, the first to leave home, the first to get the best job. Tessa wanted to be the best. All she saw in Richard was a bossy and aggressive big brother who worried too much. Tessa was too logical and too intense to allow her older brother to take over.
Then came Nathaniel, or Nathan, or Nate. While his older siblings were more on the enterprising and ambitious side, Nathan was Nathan. He was his own person, and his parents had a bit of trouble dealing with that. Nathan like being different, whether it was hereditary or not. He was more like his father; outgoing and spontaneous. He didn't like taking things seriously, mostly because he could never find himself being serious himself. Nathan was mentally tough and gathered the experience to be well-off in life. He was bit temperamental and often lashed-out on the majority of his family and friends. He never held a steady girlfriend or job, and it was like he was just bouncing from one moment to the other. When times got bad, Nathan resorted to violence and occasionally abuse. He was quick to snap, quick to burst. Nate was like a ticking clock, ready to time out in any moment.
Next came Brennan and the simplicity of his being. He was born only two years after Nathan, and their differences were outlined very sharply. Brennan was a good kid; he was shy, quiet, and kept to himself. He was a gentleman, modeling a bit after Richard, but not as ambitious. He was loyal to his family and friends, and he always maintained his role as the least bothersome of the children. Brennan was unspoiled and deeply realistic, and he managed to be the problem fixer rather than the problem maker. His self-confidence, however, was never fully present, and he often let others walk all over him, providing them the answers they always wanted to hear. While Brennan was kind-hearted, maybe too much for his own good, he could just never manage to stand up for himself.
With these new batch of kids, Sandra and Miles realized their simple lifestyle before had to be changed. As the family expanded, Miles knew it was time to grow up; time to be a father. He abandoned his previous lifestyle, the one he loved so greatly, the one that was his own. He got a job at the Ministry as well, and to much surprise, he was very good at it. So good, he actually liked it. He would never realize, but time would come that would assure him that he was a much better employee than a father.
Sandra, as well, had to double her hours to keep her job afloat. Her dream of leading the Ministry fell into the back of her mind, and she worked to maintain her job rather than upgrade. With all those children, they would need quite a fortune to make sure they managed a comfortable life. Sandra had always been accustomed to live comfortably, and she wasn't going to lose that.
So Miles and Sandra worked hard, worked so hard that it was what their life revolved around. Much use of nannies headed towards the kids way, and little civil wars broke in the Buchanan household every now and then. The kids would fight, their extreme personalities contrasting heavily against the other, and one nanny would leave as quickly as another one would be hired. They could deal with the monstrosity of the Buchanan children, plus that new puppy Monster; it only added to the irony of the situation.
Then five years later, on April 1st, a new baby girl was born to the Buchanan family. Unexpected to almost all, Sandra and Miles were befuddled as to what to do with this new addition. They were already aging dearly, and the idea of handling a new kid was not the most desirable factor in their life. But what were they going to do? She was the newest addition to the Buchanans; she was their baby girl. Her named was Charlene Georgia Buchanan, and she would be the one that would draw the last straw in the family. She would be the one that would tear them apart.
Charlene, or Charlie as her brother Nathan would call her, became a ruckus. She was the problem child, the black sheep. She was the daughter that everyone whispered about, the one they all thanked the higher being for not granting to them. Charlie was the underdog, the rebel. She was the undesirable traits of each member of the family combined, and along with her age, Charlie became the most ignored, the most isolated. But her personality would not allow it; with all the negative force thrust upon her, Charlie quickly learned to fight for herself. She became immediate; she was self-reliant, hard-working, and no way would she allow herself to be pushed around. Charlie rebelled horribly against authority, specifically her parents and siblings, and it came to a point where no body wanted to deal with her. Her requests were ignored, her attention was denied. Because of this, because of her demands and her unbending characteristics, Charlie was the breaking point.
To others outside the Buchanan family, the saw not much wrong in Charlie. She was charming, though occasionally manipulative. She was outgoing and perky, often the tension easer between fighting parties. She was uncomplicated, affectionate, and generally absent-minded. She was absolutely creative and had a knack for entertaining people, and her persistence and happiness became well known to her friends.
But on the inside, Charlie was breaking.
She was too young to understand everything. Too young to realize that over the years, Miles and Sandra had grown apart. It wasn't her fault. Her birth wasn't the reason why they didn't sleep in the same bed anymore. Charlie was too young, and she hated it. It didn't help that Tessa pointed the finger on her, blaming their parent's situations on her. If you weren't born, everything would be fine. God, Charlie, why do you ruin everything?
Richard got married to a beautiful woman named Elizabeth. She was gorgeous and kind, and Charlie loved her. They had three kids with appropriate age gaps, and like everything in Richard's life. It was perfect. Awesome. Charlie called him Captain Awesome. He had a good job at the Ministry like his father, and Charlie could just imagine them having another kid on the way. He was perfect. She was perfect. The kids were perfect. Charlie didn't know perfect, and while she tried being nice and understanding their sickly sweet smiles, she exploded one day. Do you just wake up every morning and thing 'God, I'm just so awesome! I'm so fucking fantastic!' Because you're just so awesome, Richard. Really. So awesome you don't even realize you're falling into mom and dad's same footsteps. In a few years, you and Elizabeth will get grumpy and wrinkly and irritated, and then life won't be so awesome anymore. Needless to say, Richard avoided any further contact with his youngest and most immature little sister, and her babysitting requests were no longer upheld.
Tessa liked to work. She liked to work too much. She had a job at the Ministry and nothing else. Charlie hated her. She hated her more than any of her other siblings. She was so focused, so intense that it drove Charlie crazy. She could count the times when she had ever seen Tessa smile, and she when did smile, it looked like someone gagged her. Charlie hated her. She hated her so much, she showed up to Tessa's work and called her out. You're such a bitch, Tessa, Charlie has said. And the worst thing is that you know it, and you like it. You're sick. Tessa had stopped talking to Charlie as well.
Nathan was her favorite sibling. He understood Charlie and her needs. Charlie was most like him, rebellious, spirited, passionate. She was a little lost though, unsure of who she was, and he could pinpoint the blame on their family. Their parents hardly talked to her, consumed with work and fighting. Their siblings viewed her as too incompetent and too immature to hear her voice. Nathan tried his best to ease the pain, to take some time off to provide attention for his little sister because really, all she needed was just a little attention. He taught her how to ride a broom, how to form the perfect punch, and how to stand up for herself. Through Nathan, Charlie learned to never take an answer she didn't want to hear. They were partners-in-crime, best friends even, but not even Charlie could prevent his upcoming demise. Nathan was going no where in life. He was an alcoholic, sex addict, and drug abuser. He never did well in school, he was too violent to hold a steady girlfriend, and his friends could care less if he OD'd last night. So it wasn't Charlie's fault that Nathan had yelled at her. It wasn't her fault he pushed her and said the only reason he spent time with her was because he felt sorry for her. It wasn't her fault that he threw a bottle at the door on her way out and passed out on his apartment floor. You're a dumbass, Charlie, he had muttered, his voice slurred. You're such a fucking dumbass.
Brennan was passive. He got engaged to a girl named Rebecca. She was pretty, from a good family, and liked crossing her legs when she sat. She had perfect curled hair and always laughed with a napkin above her lips. Charlie had to squint whenever she looked at Rebecca, curious to find some indication that she was a robot. However, she was granted with no avail. Rebecca was just like that. She was prim and proper and polite. Charlie tried not to gag whenever she saw her, but she knew Brennan was only going to marry her because he was too nice. He was a doormat, and Charlie rolled her eyes. You don't love her! she blurted out one day. Brennan stared at her, he stared at her very hard, and for the first time in both their lives, Brennan stood up for himself. Go home, Charlie.
Except home was nothing.
Charlie was the breaking point. She tore the Buchanan family into severe and separate bits and pieces. She had ruined everything. She was the cause of all their problems; she was the reason why everyone whispered when Mrs. Buchanan walked down the Ministry, or when Mr. Buchanan stayed too late in his office. She was the reason why Brennan and Rebecca's wedding was so tense, why Nathan had to go to rehab, why Tessa got knocked up, why Elizabeth and Richard got divorced. Charlie was the reason why everything fell apart.
So when she went to Hogwarts, when she was able to escape the mess of her family and her presence of demise, Charlie stayed happy. She was happy. She loved to make people laugh, and she loved to laugh herself. She liked to date boys, and she liked to fly around on a broom. She liked to dance, and she liked to bake. She loved her best friend Madison Rios, and she loved standing up for both of them. Charlie was entertaining, persistent, charming, and easy-going. She still fought against the rules, she was still independent, but she just lived to hear others laugh and be happy because when it came time to go home, she saw none of that. She was none of that.
Charlie was the reason why her family ended.
