Title: Beastboy's Child
Description: Green or what?

Yellow Butterfly - June 16, 2005 03:45 PM (GMT)
First of all - I'm not saying BB's gonna have a kid or anything, but this question came to mind after surfing around DA fanarts.

I've seen a lot of fanarts where Beastboy (usually with Terra or Raven) has a kid with green skin, eyes, and hair. I've also seen a lot where the kid would have peach skin, blue/violet eyes, and blonde/violet hair (depending on the mother).

Since Beastboy was originally blue-eyed blonde, would his animal DNA go on to his child, even though it was affected after his birth, or what his original DNA (human) pass down?

Of course - there's the whole biological standpoint in which blue eyes and blonde hair probably has more of a chance of showing up in offspring than green and green - but I'm no biologist.

What do you think?

IDK Confusing But Definetly an Interesting Question

I'm Not Sure. That is a very interesting question. Although i would like to think that the kid would have some kind of green tone to his skin and depending on the mother blue violite, or green eyes(or somthing). But overall I like to imagine that beastboy never marries anybody :D

First, SorrowedSoul, this is a serious topic. If you're going to reply, it has to be more than one sentence.

I'm not sure what would happen. But if the animal DNA came into his DNA and stayed there, the child might have something green on it, like hair or skin or eyes or whatever. But as usual in kids, it would have something from the mother, too, like blonde hair or violet eyes or whatever.

I agree. Truefully both seem likely to me. But BB's mutation seems to be pretty permant and pretty strong. As we saw in the end pt1 he can turn into the beast from the beast within. It shows him taking control of his powers and it seems to grow I have never once witnessed it fade. So most likely the child will have some part green eyes hair skin, whatever. But I'm not 100% sure.

Huh, thats crossed my mind a few times. Well, now that his present DNA (the green part) is in his genectics I think that his child would have some kind of green on him/her. Whether it be eyes, skin, hair ,BB powers, or just over all look exactly like a mini me Beast Boy. Whoever the mom is doesnt really matter, it takes part of each the mother and father to make the child, so it would take some of his, shall we say, greenness to make said child. So it dont matter who mama is, he/she's gonna have some kinda green somewhere.

Okay, first of all, I'm going to seriously suggest that you guys get the "Beast Boys and Girls" graphic novel, which contains the most recent story arc dealing with Gar's powers.

Second, Gar's powers come from a disease, not a mutation. Sakutia is fatal - except the treatment that Gar's parents gave him let him live - but the Sakutia apparently never left his body. In Teen Titans #13 through 15, it was shown that 1, Sakutia can be reversed and 2, Sakutia can mutate into a contagious, but curable form. Exposure to the mutated version of Sakutia did cure Gar - he returned to normal coloring and was no longer able to shape shift. Other children infected with the airborne Sakutia spontaneously changed and couldn't change back until the disease was cured (yes, it was cured, through a 3rd mutation of the gene that affected Dr. Sam Register)

Apparently, something in the combination of the Sakutia and the serum his parents gave him allowed Gar to unlock and reconfigure his DNA. The Sakutia itself is not genetic.

The actual determining factor is whether or not the Sakutia will affect his sperm and whether or not it can be passed on to his children. If this was a female with Sakutia, I'm sure there would be a greater chance of it being passed on (in the same way babies are born HIV positive to HIV positive mothers), but the possiblity of Sakutia being passed on by the father is unknown.

I have no doubt Gar's children would be born with some sort of powers (even if the mother had no super powers) just for the simple fact that everything Gar's been blasted with, dunked in, and exposed to over the years is sure to have affected the DNA that will be passed on to his children (going on the premise that many children of super fathers and normal mothers in comics are often born with powers - current examples being Jade and Obsidian, children of a Green Lantern, and Thunder, the daughter of Black Lightning). However, there is no proof as to whether or not the Sakutia will be passed on.

I'm also counting in the fact that, in any "alternate future" that DC has done with Gar in it, he has never been shown as the father of any children. He has, however, been shown to have mutated further.

I would suspect that possibly Gar would be too nervous to have children for fear that: 1, the Sakutia would be passed on to them and 2, he would have no idea of how to be a father (from lack of role models - his father died when he was five, and his stepfather was often absent).

Lady Timedramon, I will say that the fact in DC says that Beastboy and any one to our knowledge he's had affairs with, doesn't mean we don't like to fantasize about it.

But I think he would have some sort of influnce of powers, like from the episode 'The Beast With In', those chemicals could have an effect like the child being able to change into the beast or some animal depending on the mood. Like Beast Boy, or as some say, Gar had to be mad, frustated, upset or just in some type of bad mood to be that beast. So that could just be one little thing that I believe. Especially if Raven was the mother. The emotions and the chemicals would be a very could example of what I have just said. Now Lady Timedramon, I do use a bit of your point. And I credit you as well.

My guess is that the child will either resemble Beast Boy, pre-genetic mutation, the mother, the mother AND BB's pre-genetic mutation, or a mixture of all three. Beast Boy now, BB then, and the mother.

I guess I'm thinking he'll have a kid something like Brainiac from the Legion. Green with blonde hair.

And as for the disease problem, some superheroines have a healing factor that could very well keep the disease from being passed on to their children. *coughRavencoughcough*

ThexMidnightxShow - July 7, 2005 04:29 PM (GMT)
I think it depends on who the kids mother is. If he had a kid with Terra, the kid would probably be green, but have blue eyes. If he had a kid with Raven, The kid could have either skin tone and eye color. Either person he has the kid with, I think the kid would still have a mix of both the parents powers.

I do belive that Beastboy child will be green I think maybe a boy with Blue hair and greenish blueish eyes if Raven the mother no effense to T/BB lovers

I think most of the guys here have answered the question. Whoever his wife is, his child will have some mixture feature with daddy and mommy.

stevie cav - July 8, 2005 11:42 AM (GMT)
I think the kid will probably be green but won't be able to turn into all the animal BB can, only some but won't have elf ears if raven's the mother then I think the animals will be a bit demonic and twisted (like the beast within)

That's a very good question. I think that there may be a hint of green somewhere on the child, either the hair or skin. Anywhere else i think that the kid would have more looks from the mother.

Luthormania - April 24, 2008 07:14 PM (GMT)
I don't know, i guess green like your father

Anyway must have the same ears very similar to Beast Boy :thumb:
