Russell was on a mission. He had been eyeing his target for the past half hour now, and the fact that he could not even so much as nick the creature frustrated him. Looking at it, the beast looked so plain and commonplace--who would have thought it possessed such agility and cunning? Gritting his teeth, Russell lunged at the deer with his dagger in hand, ready to slice and dice the stupid animal. But, just like all the other times, the creature hopped away playfully at the last minute, leaving the elf sprawled on the ground.
The deer peered at him, and it seemed as if a smug smile was playing across its lips. Before he could think, it started to leap away. Not willing to let it get the best of him, Russell took up the chase. He followed it past the thinning line of trees and onto the plains. Deciding his dagger was of no use here, he pocketed it and instead drew out his bow and arrow. Fitting one wooden missile to his bow, he aimed carefully as he ran, and fired. He watched as it whistled through the air with amazing speed and.....got it! Russell smiled triumphantly as he reached for another arrow. He let another one loose and watched as it hit the target again. By this time, the animal was tiring out, and he was able to catch up. With a leap he landed on top of the wounded beast and stabbed at it with his dagger.
He hopped off its back before the animal collapsed sideways onto the dry grass. Russell pulled the blade out easily and sat down beside the dead deer, wiping the sweat off his brow. With the weapon, he proceeded to skin the beast, not even noticing as a few feet away, a gryphon landed on the plains. All he was focused on right now, was getting his lunch.

Within minutes, he had managed to scrape the last bit of fur off the animal. He ran a ravenous eye over the carcass. Once he had finished ridding the meat of the fat, he would have a meal fit for kings. Russell held up his knife once more against the slippery pink flesh and started his work. However, a shadow seemed to have been casted over him, and he scowled to himself, thinking a storm might be approaching.
The elf looked up and was startled to find some girl watching him. He had been so focused on preparing his meal that he hadn't heard her approach.
"Hello there. Seems that deer was causing you some trouble..."
Russell scoffed at her words, not appreciating her attempt at starting a conversation, "Right now you stand in between myself and my chances of getting something to eat before the year is over," he snapped coldly, "If you'll be so kind, you would move out of my light source and leave me at peace."

Russell glared openly at the elven girl, not really caring whether or not she was here with her precious little gryphon beast before he was. All he noticed was that she was disturbing his work, and his growling stomach could be heard all across Ria. Actually, he was a little surprised at the attitude in her voice; as far as he was concern, most of his kin were happy creatures who pranced around in their forest with their little songs and dance.
He waited a short moment for the girl to step aside, but when he realized she really meant what she said, Russell heaved an irritated sigh and said, "Fine, do what you want, and don't you smirk at me," he added, misunderstanding the reason for her light laughter.
