To put it simply, she missed. The Fang was used to such simple tricks, and quickly stepped aside. Unfortunately, it also tripped over a small mudhole. Since it has to unstick its paw, it will have severely reduced initiative next turn. (botch)
Nala: 30/30, 30/30 Fang: 75/75

The Fang lunged at the summoner, biting at her heels . . . but its teeth bit only air.
At Nala's words, a fiery man-beast emerged from the suddenly molten ground. Without pausing, Ifrit slammed a flaming fist into the Fang for 60 damage! (Fang has elemental weakness: fire)
Ifrit will remain in the battle for two more turns, taking all hits for his summoner in the meantime.
Ifrit: 60/60 ---Nala: 20/30, 20/30
Fang: 28/75

But the journey was long, and fraught not only with danger, but also with cute little fox-like things that were trying to find food for their babies. The Mus knew to wait near the trail for travelers - lots of food from the softskins. One such Mu was waiting in some bushes when Nala passed by. The creature leapt from its hiding place, and attacked.
