Name:Clark Zarrock
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral Age: 19 start of story 22 end Occupation: Military captain for Ascadia Location of Residence: Ascadia Gender: Male Height: 5'7" Weight: 130 pounds Species: Human/Warlock Eyes: Yellow Hair: Pale blond Appearance: Clark traditionally wears a brown military uniform with a green cloak and a pair of knee high boots to protect himself from the elements. Clark himself is a gaunt young man with a goatee to accentuate his sharp facial features. Personality: Clark while kind to the people he trusts, is a very manipulative person, who sees people in their value to him and very little else. As such he only sees things in terms of the big picture, often forgetting minor details along the way or assuming that the ones he did account for have no chance for failure, allowing his hubris to be his downfall in many situations or when attempting to use others for research. In spite of his cruelty and calculating nature, when Clark is lacking in higher ambitions he is fairly amiable, if somewhat smug, and is perfectly willing to settle down and enjoy the company of others. Likes: Research, tending to others, slouching and tapping his fingers against the nearest surface Dislikes: Rainy days, flat ale, incompetence Abilities: While originally a fairly weak man Clark's deal with the devil granted him three boons, lost to the humanity ages ago, the ability to use his ancestor's guardian spirits to defend himself, the power of leadership, and the true magic alchemy. His ability to act as a leader to all, allows him to expose his demonic taint to force someone to follow his train of thought, defying their fate and even their free will if they're opposed to the idea, though they will resist the ability based on their magical resistance, their opposition to the idea, and their ability to trust Clark's line of reasoning, driving them to either a fanatical following, a pained sort of denial of their free will or a simple action they wouldn't even acknowledge as his suggestion otherwise. The immediate drawbacks are that while agreement with the line of action allows for true domination and push someone beyond their physical bounds, someone can attempt to talk a friend out of a suggestion they don't wish to follow and someone with enough willpower and opposition to the idea can free themselves. In addition if one is aware of Clark's ability, orders given through it can be interpreted literally, or with additional instructions, making an order such as "kill yourself" become "kill yourself and take me with you." or "Choose your poison and die" becoming "Choose your poison to die from, including long term or uncertain deaths such as alcohol". His leadership as mentioned DOES however, allow him to cripple people who he gives orders to as well as bolster someone who already agrees with him, pushing them to their limits, or above them allowing for heroics that they wouldn't normally be capable of. His ability to summon his ancestors allows him to call upon the spirit of his fallen bloodline to defend himself, allowing him to summon the specters of warriors long lost to fight alongside him and support him, blocking attacks, and acting as his armor as well as protecting him from attacks in his sleep. These guardians can also act as a conduit for his powers as they are brought forth through his power as well, though the more he summons the weaker they become. The spirits themselves are only weak against magical weapons, silver weapons or weapons forged or wielded with such remarkable technique that they reach back into the era that they were summoned from. While Clark can also bolster their abilities through his leadership, the power feed back and their lack of a corporeal form to truly follow his will, ensures that in death they cannot match their glory in life. Clark's ability with Alchemy as obtained by the magical material allows him to transmute materials into other materials as well as magically create new substances and life forms that magic on it's own doesn't normally allow for at the cost of severely draining his mana at every use. With a proper conduit Clark can channel someone else's mana to use as his own but Clark is barred from any external use of mana for this purpose. The bounds of alchemy have no limit beyond what Clark is willing to sacrifice and what Clark can come up with beyond this sacrifice. In addition to these abilities Clark is an expert horseman having gained years of experience tending to horses as a squire, and he is a competent bartender having learned from his adoptive mother. History: Clark grew up a young lad in a small Ascadian village, he grew to admire his father even if he had not seen much of his mother, seeing him as much a hero and a champion as the other boys in the village, and though he was detached from him when the man disappeared, he still held him in high regard. Soon being taken into the clan Marrok by a warrior of whom his father had been close with Clark began to learn his family's trade in war. Though the ties were tenuous at best and his ability with the blade hardly impressive he was a brilliant strategist and that was enough for Marrok to recommend him for an officer's position where Clark soon learned of the brutality of his people. Having grown up in the tolerant city he had not learned of how Ascadians treated it's enemies, or the cruelty of it's people and in his frustration Clark became jaded toward the world. He was tired of seeing the young die, the detached nobility approach and the merciless treatment of anyone who attempted to speak their mind against them. Without hesitation he began plotting against his empire, not to destroy it but to bring it to it's senses, and restructure the mess of a government that was in place to ensure it's survival for with such a system the proud nation would collapse and destroy itself eventually if he didn't himself. Knowing his plan could not succeed without a powerful leader Clark made a pilgrimage to the darkest recesses of the world and made a pact with a king long thought dead for the power to achieve his dreams, even if it meant the cost of his life. So, Clark decided to grow a goaty and gain some weight... He's been doing something in his off-time period.
On another note, why do I feel like I am reading a Nasuverse article when I read of his powers? -------------------- |

No idea because most nasuverse characters piss on the fabric of time and space to the point of being readily broken without any way to avoid it

I was more of thinking of the True Magic part actually. I recalled that Magecraft was kind of really limited compared to it since it complies to the laws of physics (kind of) as opposed to True Magic being well... Magic. I also recalled that magic is slowly fading away in the setting.
... But anyway, Clark is the last few practitioners of First Magic in the universe. *shot* -------------------- |

mentioned it before but alchemy is the origin of all magic in my setting, abandoned because it was regarded as being grossly inefficent...so ya
