The warm, but pleasant day was filled with excitement all over Legenda as everybody is celebrating Mother's Day. It was the perfect time for children to give gifts and take their mothers for a day of celebration.

Over at the Hirosuke residence is different. The family's daughter, Kaya, had been gone for a long time travelling all over the world of Animetopia. It has been two months ever since she left on her journey again.

Her mother, Hikari, was in the kitchen, washing up some dishes after a lunch meal with her father, Eijirou. Still in her thoughts is the fresh memory of what they did with Kaya the last time she was here.

"Ahh... I'm finally done..." she said with a sigh of relief as she places the last of the dishes back in their places.

"Great," said Eijirou. "You can relax now, Hikari. I'll take care of the other things need to be done."

"Thank you, Eijirou," said Hikari as she dried her hands with a towel.

There was a short pause.

"You're thinking of Kaya right now?" said Eijirou.

Hikari nodded. "It's... kind of sad not to be with her right now on this day..."

"I know the feeling," said Eijirou.

Just then, Hikari's cellular phone rang from the living room. Immediately, Hikari walked towards it and picks it up. Eijirou followed her.

Pressing the answer key, Hikari spoke.

"Hello?"

"Hi, mom. It's me."

It was Kaya at the phone. A big smile could be seen on Hikari's face.

"Kaya! So nice to hear about you!" she said with delight.

"A friend of mine is going to bring my Mother's Day gift to you," said Kaya. "She should be there right about now."

The doorbell rang. Eijirou approached the door and opens it. He was greeted by a smiling face from Arllia, whose hands are hiding behind her back.

"Good day, Mr. Hirosuke," said Arllia.

"Good day to you too, Arllia," said Eijirou.

Arllia put her hands out front, presenting a small yellow package with a ribbon on it.

"Thank you," said Eijirou as he accepts the gift. He walks towards Hikari and shows it to her.

"Can I open it now?" said Hikari.

"Sure, go ahead," said Kaya.

Hikari clamped the phone between her head and shoulders and starts unwrapping the present. Then, she took out what looks like a topaz pendant. As she held it up, the topaz turned around, revealing an engraving on the casing that says "Mater."

"It's lovely, Kaya!" said Hikari. "Thank you for such a gift!"

"You're welcome, mom. I'm glad you liked it," said Kaya.

"I really do like it," said Hikari.

There was a moment of silence.

"I miss you, Kaya," said Hikari.

"I miss you too, mom," said Kaya.

"...When can we see you again?"

"Let's see... in about two seconds, maybe?"

"Huh?"

Hikari turned to look at the door, only to find her daughter Kaya standing right in front of her.

"Hi," said Kaya casually as she hangs up her phone.

In just a matter of moments, the two locked each other in a heartwarming embrace. Eijirou and Arllia looked on with a smile on their faces.

"Welcome home, Kaya," said Hikari.

"Happy Mother's Day, mom," said Kaya.

Tears started to roll down on Hikari's cheek. Then, she suddenly tightened her hug, prompting Kaya to shed tears of joy along with her as she tightened her hug as well. It was indeed one of the best sights to behold on a special day.

Mater = Mother in your language?

It's endearing, I guess.
...
Did you pull something like this for your mother, Watch? >_>

Nope.

Mater = 'Mother' in Latin.
