Overall:

Delilah Jocelyn Caraway is generally an easygoing person, but has an attitude. She likes being around people, though mostly guys, as she typically prefers their company. Not in the sense you're thinking of, but she usually finds girls catty and not in the same often-twisted sense of humor she has. This comes from years of putting up with a lot of difficulty in her home life, leading her to be a lot more toughened on the outside than she and a select few know she really is.

She makes friends fairly easily, though whether or not the friendships develop much or last is anyone's guess and usually depends on how much she feels like this person needs her at the time. Lilah tends to be pretty giving of herself when she feels like someone needs company or just a hand on their shoulder. She really is a good friend, though she might come off as aloof or light-hearted to others, she can be a fierce friend. Sometimes she'll hide behind a camera lens or lock herself in the dark room for a while, but they are always pictures of the people she loves the most because she is always surrounded by them.

In love, she is picky and selective, no matter how she jokes to the opposite. She doesn't date as much as has relationships with those she grows to know and trust over time, letting them in bit-by-bit until she's ready to dive into the thing head first. At the same time, she is very distrusting of love and often doubts if its real or just a word people concoct to make them less guilty about sex and anything ever done "in the name of love".

Family:

Lilah usually only speaks seriously of her family around those she trusts and has known for a while. Her dad likes to experiment and invent new magical things, much to the distaste and often anger of her mom.

Both are magic, so it only makes the fighting a lot more sparkly and colourful, with Delilah usually somewhere in the middle (when she actually elects to be there), trying to restore order and keep anyone from getting too seriously injured.

Her older sister, Claire, doesn't even bother trying to interfere anymore now that she's grown and moved out, and only checks in to make sure Lilah is all right.

She has a lot more secrets about her family and their issues, but she's never really discussed them with anyone, choosing for them to believe that her parents just fight often and it ends there. Lilah just hates to go home, because she knows what is always waiting for her when she returns, and the fights that always come with it, only hurting them all and sometimes literally.

History:

Born and raised in Connecticut, Lilah had a pretty well-off life. Her family has good money, and being the youngest of the two Caraway sisters, she was sufficiently doted upon. Once upon a time her parents were nice and just like any other All-American wizarding couple, until her dad's experiments started to take a toll on the marriage and subsequently the family, each one seeming to be more dangerous and noisy than the last. Ever since she was seven or eight it's been like this, with no sign of divorce papers, just a lot of yelling and hexing.

Thanks to this, she was glad to go off to Allene, formerly one of the best wizarding schools which she opted for because of its distance from home as well as its reputation. She's ready to start a new life on her own and is willing to do whatever it takes to be able to stay here instead of having to go back home until her 18th birthday. Like they could make her anyway.

Delilah swung her legs and dropped carefully from the tree branch she had been perched in for almost an hour. It was the best place she had found around this gorgeous Irish town to watch the sunset. Turned out, the pictures she had seen weren't exaggerating: the Irish sunset rivaled any she had ever seen back home by far.

Walking slowly back to the place she was staying, she contemplated the letter she had recently received from her sister. It was bland and usual, just saying she was sorry to hear that Lilah was going to school so far away and blah, blah, blah, blah.... She had stopped reading once she got the gist of the thing. If Claire would show any real concern, then Delilah might write back more often.

But if she wasn't going to care enough to interfere, then Lilah wouldn't care enough to comment on her sister's charming little new life.
