The First is back. In the time it's been dormant, the Demon some call Azazeal has begun his plan of gathering the "special children" to form an army. Seeing an opening with the Demon, the first has made a pact: The First Evil and Azazeal have joined forces to take out the Slayers, the dozens of girls and women around the world who were Called four years ago, clearing the way for Azazeal to bring forth his army and bathe the world in fire.

Their ultimate goal: to destroy the world.

Buffy Summers and Rupert Giles have returned from Europe to investigate the disappearances of several Slayers spread across the United States. A report of vampires running amok in Nebraska has brought them to Harvelle's Roadhouse, where they meet Dean and Sam Winchester, two hunters and one of the children the Demon is after.

Their initial meeting is complicated by the presence of a vengeful spirit that is making the patrons of the Roadhouse act in strange ways. Jealousy is just the start. Before they can join forces against the First and the Demon, they have to get rid of the spirit, before it turns someone to murder.
