lazarus ridley billingsley had never been more excited for anything in his whole entire life. this was no lie, nor was it an exaggeration. today was the day he was taking his girlfriend, alice ireland hein, to the fucking aquarium! so, yeah, he was pretty stoked. well, more then stoked but his vocabulary was on short supply that particular afternoon. when alice had told him she'd never been to the aquarium, lazarus made it his number one mission to make sure she fucking went. honestly, who didn't go to the aquarium at least once in their lifetime. it was kind of awesome that not only had lazarus popped alice's sex-in-the-rain cherry, he was also popping her aquarium cherry. wasn't that just bad ass? laz liked to think so. so there laz sat, in the middle of the aquarium, cotton candy in one hand and one red spider mum in the other. red was alice's favorite color (smart lazarus. cookie?) and the spider mum was extraordinary (wow, maybe his vocabulary wasn't that depleted) flower, just like his and alice's relationship. he was practically bouncing his ass on the bench in anticipation. he was determined to make this day awesome. they both deserved that. so much had happened in the past couple of weeks and he wanted to give his one and only a day she could remember and cherish when things seemed to be getting the best of her, or them. today was about fish (squee!), talking, laughing, tapping the glass of said fish's tank, and of course, making fish like faces at said fish. it was going to be awesome! was lazarus going to act like a little four year old boy the whole time? damn straight. today was about letting go and not asking any questions about it. then again, when did laz and alice ever make excuses for who they were? never, that's what. today was a drama free day, today was a day about being lazalice and nothing else. he looked around, hand running through his hair as his eyes trained over the joyous little girls and boys around him. this was going to be lazarus one day, wasn't it? he was going to be holding the hand of one such little boy or girl, wasn't he? his heart fluttered at this thought. he and alice were going to be a mum and a dad. holy shit. they hadn't talked much about the whole situation, hadn't really felt the need to, he guessed. they were doing what they both did best: avoid, avoid, avoid. yep. since lazarus' last break down (or word vomit) they pair had been alright but that didn't mean they were both spilling their guts (or having word vomit). things were back to normal, kind of considering the fact that their impending parenthood was looming over them like a fucking wet blanket. he smiled as a giggling girl ran by with her parents in tow, both smiling at the child. were he and alice going to be like that? christ, he needed to stop thinking. he checked his watch, five minutes to spare. his eyes roamed toward the seal tank, watching as the creatures swam about so carefree. if lazarus hadn't decided, since he was three or so, that fish were his favorite animals, he would have said a seal was. no! he couldn't be betray his beloved fish though, could he. blasphemy!

the aquarium had never really been somewhere that alice had ever thought to go. when she'd been a child, her school had had a field trip there, but her parents had refused to sign the consent form, for whatever reason, and either way, she had ended up at home with food poisoning anyway. ironic? yeah, a little bit, but despite the fact that the hein parents were epic assholes, she doubted that they would poison one of their daughters to keep her from going to the aquarium. after all, it was the aquarium. the point was, alice had never made it to the aquarium. after the field trip, she had never really had any interest in going. however, then she'd ended up with lazarus, and, well, upon learning that she had never been, he seemed to have decided that it was his god given mission to change that. whatever floated his boat, she supposed. besides, the nineteen year old was ridiculously excited about the trip, and she wasn't about to take that away from him. so, she'd made the fish faces and tap at the tank's glass with him, just to see him smile that smile that made him look like a nine year old in the most adorable way possible. to see that face, though, she would need to take a step away from her mirror, and get over there.. "it's gotten bigger since last night, i swear it." the girl told herself, examining her stomach in the mirror. could it be possible that it had gotten bigger since the night before? she was sure that there was a bit of a curve to what had been flat skin before. right? "fuck it." alice dropped her dress back down and grabbed her bag off of her bed, heading for the door. it took only ten minutes to get to the aquarium - a large building filled with laughing children, and, of course, a certain nineteen year old that seemed to be just bursting with excitement. "what've you got there?"

his eyes darted to the seals once more before turning his head to look at the entrance of the aquarium. he hummed a bit under his breath in order to restore some sense of calm (fat chance). it was a few eternal moments later that his head whipped back around, eyes going to the brunette standing before him. getting to his feet he handed the pink fluffy cloud of yummy goodness to her. "heaven for the baby, and you," he said with a grin and small wink. he then proceeded to hand over the other red spider mum. "and pretty red spider mum for baby's mum, and my girl." his arm wrapped around the brunette's waist, pulling her to him and pressing a kiss to her forehead, then her lips. letting her go, he crouched down, kissing the brunette's still flat stomach. "hola baby." with that, he raised back up to his full height. his arm once again found her waist as he turned them both around to face the seals. "first stop on laz's grand tour of the aquarium, the seals. second favorite animals, love. don't tell the fish though, they'll get jealous." lazarus' grin broadened as he led her to the glass enclosure, resting his free arms on the cool metal railing. his blue eyes watched the seals for a moment or two before coming to rest on alice, wondering if she was enjoying this. christ, he really hoped so. if she wasn't, well, they could go home and watch a movie or something. he found he didn't really care as long as he was with her. though, he secretly hoped alice would share his enthusiasm for the aquarium. if not his enthusiasm, at least maybe she'd have a certain fondness for the place just like laz did.

oh, laz. why did he have to be so damn adorable? alice had definitely not been anticipating falling in love with anyone, but now that she had, she was glad that it was someone like laz. someone that, despite having been dealt a shitty hand in life, still could be as happy as he looked at that moment. someone that could get a girl pregnant and not run for the hills. someone that could find joys in the little things in life, and make her feel that joy too. his smile was infectious, and, seriously, he was just fucking adorable. raising her eyebrows with a smile at the gifts, alice watched laz greet her and the baby. "i promise i won't tell the fish." she told him, leaning into his side slightly as the pair turned around to face the seals. hm. alice liked the animals, she decided, after a few moments of silence as she watched them. yep. she definitely did. ripping off a piece of the cotton candy, the brunette placed it on her tongue. "i like them." alice broke away from lazarus' side and leaned forward against the rail, looking out at the group of seals. "don't seem to mind that they're getting watched, do they? kinda like some of the brides, eh?" alice looked over her shoulder at the man. it was true - a lot of the brides involved in the little show that they were filming were just loving the spotlight. alice, on the other hand? she was tired of the cameras, and the attention, and people she didn't know asking her how she thought her unplanned pregnancy would affect her sister's wedding. what they didn't seem to understand was that it wouldn't. she wouldn't let it ruin gen's wedding. no matter what.

he tilted his head slightly and grinned down at the brunette haired girl, kissing the top of her head after a silent moment or two. his arm squeezed around her slightly as he let her warmth sink deep into his bones. christ, he really loved this girl. did she realize that? could she even comprehend how his heart seemed to want to burst out of his chest from all the he felt for her? probably not. well, then again, possibly. alice was extremely smart, despite what airs she put off. "they're funny little buggers, yeah?" he asked, blue eyes watching on as one did a flip in the air. damn flippy things too. if only he could do that sort of thing. what kind of treats would he get out of it? probably nothing. oh well. his gaze moved from the seals to alice, watching as she ate a bit of the cotton candy. his placed a kiss to the side of her mouth, just able to taste the sweet treat. with a grin, he opened his mouth, waiting silently for the brunette to treat him. word of the day? have you guessed it? treat. yeah, alright, maybe not so funny. he chuckled at her words. the brunette had a point. "and we get to share in the joy of being on film as well. brilliant." lazarus didn't mind being on film. he thought it was kind of fun to show off for the camera and be his normal out of control self. "penguins?" he asked, wondering if alice wanted to see those next. he was saving the cave of fish tanks for the grand finale', and well, because those were his favorite. he couldn't wait to show her the manatees though, those were great fun.

"they are." alice agreed, turning her head so she could kiss him. guh. why couldn't she stop kissing him? she knew why. the answer was obvious. it was because he was lazarus ridley billingsley. because he was adorable and hot and desirable and oh, she certainly did desire him. her pregnancy more than attested to that fact. the edges of her mouth curved upwards slightly as his lips met a corner. honestly, she didn't get why public displays of affection bothered people so much. everyone was always bitching about how much hate there was in the world, but as soon as people started demonstrating their love for each other in public, they got in trouble for it, or looked down upon? how did that work? it didn't make any sense to alice. really, it didn't. sure, if someone was mounting her boyfriend on a park bench in the middle of the day, she'd get why people would pitch a fit. but just kissing:? what was the big deal? oh well. whatever. tearing off another piece of the cotton candy, alice placed it in laz's mouth, and then pressed her lips to his. she pulled away a moment later, and nodded. "oh, yeah. the joy. can't you tell how joyful i am about it?" alice replied sarcastically. "for future, what do you think my good side is? i want to know for my next interview." she grinned up at the man, wrapping an arm around his waist. "penguins." alice nodded. penguins sounded good.

kissing. it was a joy, really. one of the few things lazarus could really appreciate in life. it was so simple and easy and fun. people who hated kissing (if such people existed) sucked out loud and had no idea what they were missing out on. for instance, kissing alice? it was like a stormy sunday afternoon, or walking in the rain. two of lazarus' favorite combined into one extremely enjoyable and amazing action. wow, that was lame. not like laz really cared or anything. it wasn't like anyone could see or read into his head so he was safe. then again, was he ashamed? not so much. she grinned around the candy alice had placed into his mouth, relishing the way the pink treat dissolved on his tongue. then alice was kissing him again and anything he was thinking kind of just flew out the window. his fingers ran through her soft hair for a moment or two before dropping to her cheek, thumb tracing slow circles. then they were breaking a part and lazarus was grinning like the cat with the cream or whatever that bloody expression was. "why, yes, i can." sarcasm, such a lovely little tool. before the question had fully left alice's pretty lips, he had the answer to it. one, he was lazarus, and two, he was just smooth like that. "love, that's an easy one. all sides of you are good. you can't go wrong with either of them," he said with a cheeky grin. he should definitely be patting himself on the back now. at her answer, he led her toward the part of the aquarium where they housed the penguins. he moved behind her, arms wrapping around her waist and pulling her closer into him. lazarus knew just how chilly they kept this place and god forbid the brunette get cold. plus, holding her like this? well, lazarus just plain liked that bit.

]b]"you're so smart."[/b] alice shook her head with a slight grin at laz's reply to her sarcasm. she hated the damn cameras. they were always there, always lingering in the background with a sound guy close at hand with the huge microphone on a stick above their heads. it was awesome. not. still, as previously mentioned, some of the people involved relished the attention that the situation gave them. lazarus didn't seem to mind it too much, but then again, lazarus was lazarus, and he didn't mind much, most of the time. but alice? alice was tired of it all. she couldn't wait for the whole thing to just be over. thankfully, though, today the pair had managed to escape the camera crew that had been assigned to the best man and maid of honor. alice rolled her eyes, though a fond smiled played at her lips. "you're a cheeky bastard." the girl told him as he moved behind her, pulling her into him. alice smiled again. she liked their day at the aquarium already. the sea creatures weren't too bad, but she mostly just liked spending the time with laz. the week leading up to their trip had been long, in al's opinion, and it was nice to have a day with her boyfriend to unwind, and forget the shit that was going on around them. when you were at the aquarium, you didn't need to worry about shit like center pieces and playlists for the dj. you could just be, and alice liked that. actually, she liked it a lot. "i like penguins." alice told laz, leaning her head back into his chest as she watched them waddle around their area. "did you know they mate for life? penguins, that is. some type. can't remember which." she paused, biting down on her bottom lip thoughtfully. "i think i like that. the idea of staying with someone no matter what happens. that way you always have each other. you always have someone. you know?"

lazarus sent alice a goofy type of grin before ducking his head, trying to act all sheepish and what not. yeah, right. like alice was buying that for a second. after a few seconds of that, he looked back up at the brunette girl, wide smile on his lips now. see? he seriously couldn't pull off the whole trying to be sheepish thing. it just was not lazarus. it was the very reason the cameras and boom mics didn't bother him. he had nothing to hide. hell, if he were allowed to be naked on live television... wait, he could! ha! he wondered if alice would get onto him for that (that sounded vaguely dirty) or if she would just look on, amused smirk on her gorgeous face. maybe he should bring that up, like now. "cheeky foot job later then? what would you do if i just tore off all my clothing and ran around naked, streaked, i suppose you could say, on live television?" he asked, very serious look on his handsome face. he nodded against her shoulder as he listened to her talk. immediately, he knew just what to say because he was lazarus ridley billingsley. he kissed her flesh for a second, smile forming against her skin. his lips touched her ear lightly, warm breath blowing unintentionally. "well, love, how 'bout it? want to be my penguin?" he asked, grin unable to stop from appearing.
