Ok, I havent said much on the forums b4 but heres a new idea for a campus game.
Star wars. Now before you dismiss it and flame me just hear me out. Im looking round everywhere and seeing Humans Vs Zombies, and might i add that gets intense at night. Anywho, heres the rules, The Items, And the teams. The Basic rules; 1) No hitting other people not playing the game, clearly. 2) No combat inside the Buildings, but challenges can be issued inside (which can be brought outside), The Player can choose if he wants to accept or not. 3) You cant be scared of looking like a geek in public (Im already guilty of that so..) =) 4) You must always keep your ID Cards on you. (ID cards are your own personal card, with your name and your team + the date of that day.) 5) Try not to hurt each other, I know it can get intense. 6) Use common sense! 7) Everyday at 12am (midnight) a new round starts, Meaning you get to respawn. 8) Every round you only have 1 life. 9) If you die, then you give the player that killed you your ID card + all your ID cards you have that day. 10) At the end of the game, The team with the most ID cards win, except bounty hunters are a neat little exception here. They are each are considered their own team as individuals, or as a group of players(Bounty hunters) working as a team. 11) If you get hit by either a blaster or a lightsaber: get hit in the chest or head (Dont aim for the head!!!) You die, Arms you lose that arm, leg u go down on a knee. Until the end of the fight, if you survive that attack after gitting hit, its assumed that you either 1) got a Mechanical Implant, or 2) recieved medical attention. The Items: Lightsabers- The sabers you buy from walmart for 10bucks. They can block blaster shots (nerf guns) if you hit the dart mid air and it doesnt touch you. Blasters- Nerf guns Thermal grenades- Socks, stuffed with another sock. If your hit with one, Well....Your dead outright. But you can catch it mid air and throw it back! The Teams: Jedi- You may only use lightsabers. # of people Equal to Sith. -Kill Sith and Hostile bounty hunters *You wear a Blue headband* Sith- You may only use lightsabers. # of people equal to the Jedi. -Kill Jedi and Hostile bounty hunters *You wear a red headband* Bounty Hunters are individuals they do not count as a team. Blasters and Grenades only. Any amount of players. *You wear a Green headband* - For Hire Rule Bounty hunters can be bought off buy Jedi, and Sith For ID Cards, though the Bounty hunter does not need to hold his end of the bargain, he can side for the jedi or the sith at his own discretion. -Greed Corrupts, Bounty Hunters can kill each other for the Bounty hunters ID's. Just a thought, Let me know what you think. I asked a few of my friends and they said that they would play this without a doubt. Thanks for your time and troubles, Terry |

It is certainly an interesting idea. However, it might prove hard to organize, and getting permission to use the lightsabers outside on campus might be tricky.

idk, im not good at organizing large scale thing such as this but i would assume that:
-You put Fliers up to get kids, -Get volunteers to have a table set up with the info of where and when the rules coversation will go down + Q&A. -The handing out of the headbands. Ummm...the lightsabers, I know sounds tricky, but im just assuming if we can carry http://www.global-connect.com/Pictures/EBF-25-blaster.jpg (a fully automatic nerf gun) around campus, then Im assuming the campus police, and the college wont care about a 10-20 dollar plastic toob that lights up and goes "wooooh" when u swing it. Im sure if we talk to someone and tell them the rules of the game and that the jedi, sith and bounty hunters would be playing this away from the main group of peope around campus they wouldnt mind. Especially behind buildings, in ally ways, out on the grass, hell the sickest time to fight would be at night, where the lightsabers would be at its most awe inspiring, and bounty hunters would be at their most feared and deadly time. I was just trying to put an idea out there, cus I know ALOT of kids that would love to play this type of game. I could get 5 kids total, off the top of my head at the moment. Sincerly, Terry |

Actually, the light sabers would be an issue if people are going to be hitting each other with them. The socks and nerf darts are soft and wouldn't do any real damage. I've been hit with the cheap plastic light sabers before and they can leave welts, though, to be fair, boffer weapons can leave some nasty bruises when you aren't wearing armor. In the heat of the moment, people may forget to "pull punches" and can hurt people badly if they aren't careful.
If there is interest, I'm sure we can get something in the works to make it happen. I would recommend talking to the new Events committee either now, over the summer or at the beginning of next semester. I could see this being a good spring semester game if we can work out the logistics of it and solve the beating people with hard plastic items issue. |

Nerf swords?
I know they sell them at walmart, just cut off the crosstrees and paint/sharpie/spraypaint them? Personally, I think the plastic lightsabers are bad to spar with because they're made of individual pieces that can and will pull apart if hit too hard... Although they would look more badass at night than nerf replacements. I have to say this is a pretty cool adaptation/idea, and I'd be one to play...if it's still being worked on or if it has been figured out... |

I wanted to bring this up at events but I've got Capoeira until 6:30 and Chorus 7-9....
I went through the rules posted previously for this idea and made some suggestions/changes, possibly make this more passable? Objective: To be the team with the most ID cards/points. Safety Rules: 1) try not to hurt each other; I know it can get intense. 2) Guns/sabers may not be used and/or visible inside of academic buildings or jobs on campus. 3) Players may not use cars for drive-bys or the like. 4) Darts must not hurt on impact. 5) Guns may not be modified to increase firepower or firing rate. 6) No realistic looking weaponry 7)All players must abide by the safety and rules provided in the Student Handbook. Safe Zones: Players are safe (cannot be shot or attacked) in the following areas: -Indoors -Official sports practices -Outdoor classes The Equipment: Lightsabers- The sabers you buy from Wal-Mart for 10bucks. They can block blaster shots (nerf guns) if you hit the dart mid air and it doesn’t touch you. this may be hard to judge…just saying. If kept, it’s up to the integrity of the saber wielder to be honest…If shields are allowed, you could probably scrap the dart deflection with the lightsaber for deflection with a shield… Blasters- Nerf guns Thermal grenades- Socks, stuffed with another sock. If you’re hit with one, well....You’re dead outright. But you can catch it mid air and throw it back! Shields-Any flat object worn on the arm to deflect lightsabers/darts. Does not deflect grenades. If hit with a grenade, you’re considered killed. ID card—this should be a 3x5 index card with your name, faction, and the date…ID numbers might be a good idea too, but I’m going with what was originally thought up. The Basic rules: 1) You can’t be scared of looking like a geek in public (I’m already guilty of that so...) =) 2)No hitting/shooting other people not playing the game, bannable offense if a complaint is filed. 3)Use common sense! 4) Jedi and Sith must issue a challenge to engage in combat with each other. Bounty Hunters have no such restriction. At each challenge both players must present their current ID card 5) You are allowed to decline a challenge three times a day. Each time you decline a challenge the challenger must sign your card, signifying your refusal of his challenge, and letting future challengers know how many times you’ve refused. 6) Kills must be reported and emailed to (insert email address here), as well as ID’s acquired due to the kill. 7) No combat inside the Buildings, but challenges can be issued inside (which can be brought outside). 8) You must always keep your ID Cards on you. (ID cards are your own personal card, with your name and your team + the date of that day.) 9) Everyday at 12am (midnight) a new round starts, meaning you get to re-spawn. You create a new ID card with your name, your team, and the current date. If you were not killed the day before, you still must carry your card from the previous day. Thus, players who have survived more consecutive days are worth more points-wise than those who need to re-spawn every night. 10) Every round you only have 1 life. If you die in combat, you are not allowed to challenge for the rest of the day. You can however spar for fun—as long as it stays fun. 11) If you die, then you give the player that killed you your ID card + all your ID cards you have that day. I.E. previous kills of yours—Thus, taking down a notorious Sith/bounty hunter/famous Jedi is more lucrative than a nonentity. 12) If you get hit by either a blaster or a lightsaber: get hit in the chest or head (Don’t aim for the head!!!) You die, Arms you lose that arm, leg u go down on a knee. Until the end of the fight, if you survive that attack after getting hit, it’s assumed that you either 1) got a Mechanical Implant, or 2) received medical attention. This can be removed if necessary…if removed, a hit with a lightsaber is“fatal,” as is a shot by a dart…Might want to implement shields though to keep battles interesting. 13) At the end of the game, the team with the most ID cards wins, except bounty hunters are a neat little exception here. They are each considered their own team as individuals, or as a group of players (Bounty hunters) working as a team. Any suggestions for game length? If a round is a day, how many rounds? 14) Alternative point keeping system—after every kill the winner reports the kill via email. The kill tracker adds the points the kill was worth to the killer’s total. Points are figured by: Days between deaths—1 point for every day since last death Kills—points acquired by killing others. ID Cards are worth 1 point. Players must submit the information on the card via email to receive the earned points. The Kill tracker will have running totals of every player, so when one player kills another, kill tracker will add the points the loser was worth to the winner’s total. The loser either remains at the same amount of points or is reduced to zero. (this clears up problem of too many ID cards being carried around and possibly lost/stolen/reproduced to bump stats…) The Teams: Jedi- You may only use lightsabers. # of people Equal to Sith. -Kill Sith and Hostile bounty hunters *you wear a Blue headband* -Must challenge a Sith before battling them. Sith- You may only use lightsabers. # of people equal to the Jedi. -Kill Jedi and Hostile bounty hunters *you wear a red headband* -Must challenge a Jedi before battling them. Bounty Hunters are individuals or small squads—they do not count wholly as a team. Blasters and Grenades only. Any amount of players. *You wear a Green headband* - For Hire Rule Bounty hunters can be bought off by Jedi and Sith For ID Cards, though the Bounty hunter does not need to hold his end of the bargain, he can side for the jedi or the sith at his own discretion. The bounty hunter emails the Kill Tracker with his employer’s ID card to inform him of the transfer of ID card for point purposes, and to inform the Kill Tracker that he’s accepted a bounty. (Optional) If the Bounty Hunter is successful in killing his mark, the points are divided between the Bounty Hunter and his employer. -Greed Corrupts Bounty Hunters can kill each other for the Bounty hunters ID's. |
