A flock of Romney ewes lifted spirits in the beleaguered City as they were paraded across London Bridge - leaving a trail of droppings behind them.
Around 500 Liverymen dressed in royal blue robes and straw boaters re-enacted an 11th Century right to the sound of drums.
The Liverymen were exercising their right to bring livestock into the City free of charge. During the 11th century, that would have saved them paying a bridge-crossing tax.
