The mare galloped in, carried by long black and white limbs and black hooves. She cried cheerfully to the sky and she romped around. She had nothing to worry about, nothing to care about. She felt truly free here. She came upon a lake and she reared by its calm side. She lashed at the sky, slicing through the air. Her hooves hit with a large thud and she shook her bay bod. Now she prought down her dial to slurp up some of the water. Her black banner brushed over her eyes.

The day was perfect, the sky was clear, the weather was warm. She pawed at the water and then jumped back and ran around. Doing little jump bucks and tossing her head, sending her banner a mess, flying this way and that. She could feel the sun on her back and her torso glistened in the sun as it was sleak.

A warm freeze tossed sand around his ears, but these tiny specs were no nuisance, compared with the blistering heat of the desert, it seemed that no matter what the season, the sun never wavered in its fiery wrath upon his lands. But The Oasis was his favorite place on the entire island, it was worth the scorching sand dunes that had to be crossed upon entering, this small speck of land was worth fighting for. Palm frawns crinkled together in the gusts of stale air. Syfthe had been scowling over his lands today, there was just something up, and he could feel it. Lately new horses had been arriving, and they smelt of humans, at least that was what the elder horses called them, those pale hairless creatures with round chubby faces who walked on two legs yet had no wings nor feathers. They sounded weak and ugly, how could such creatures survive? They would never be able to live in such conditions that this stallion endured from day to day. His breeding wasn’t even helpful, he couldn’t remember if there was any desert horses in his lineage, like Arabians, but that didn’t matter, he was tough and so was his herd, he did not need to kill to prove it either. This was the line that separated him from the other herds, life was valued and not just thrown to the scavengers whenever the urge occurred.

But the golden painted stallion was male, and his hormones did get the best of him once in a while, especially since was still a teenager in horse years, levels of testosterone were always fluctuating out of control. Today was a mellow day, a day for mindless scouting and perhaps some chatter with a few of the herd. And as he approached the pool of scarce water he would get to enjoy some company. By her smell he recognized her. They had not spoken much, and now seemed as good of a time as any for some bonding. Afternoon Freedom, how have you been faring? His muscular canons carried the thick beast slowly by her side. Deep almond eyes met hers for a moment as he dipped his head for a sip of refreshing liquid.

The mares black mane whipped in the cold wind as she loooked across the lonesome and almost dry lake. She closed her brown orbs and tilted her ears to the back to catch any sound coming her way. Not knowing the stallion was beside her, until he spoke. Jumping up and twirling around frightned by the stag.

ello m'lord, sorry i was dozing off you have a very nice peice of land better than the others

Freedom lowered her silky black head to the water to take a sip as well. Returning to her natural state, she looked back into the stallions brown orbs. While he was taking a sip of the water, freedm looked over him his large muscles were very sleek under his golden pelt.

The water was not very cool as it pasted through his larynx, but it was wet, which was a far better state than dry. All the while he gorged himself, his black tips were turning to catch every sound, having his head low was dangerous, but rarely did strangers waltz into his unforgiving land. His territory was usually more ruthless than he. It appeared that he had frightened the mare with his presence, the buckskin merely smiled raising his magnificent cranium to it full height. She seemed quite jumpy this one, but she seemed to be good of heart, so he brushed off her nerves and nodded to her quick apology, for there had been no wrong done. Perhaps this small tidbit is superior but much of my lands are worthless to my foes. But I take that as a blessing. His words were carefully chosen, as his actions, for such a calm and laid back fellow, his mind seemed to work at lightening speed. But you had to be of quick wit to survive out here and be responsible for the lives of so many.

As the sleek femme quenched her thirst Syfthe leaned his ears back to catch any approaching guests on alert, and his chocolate eyes squinted in the dry breeze, making sure his mare was protected while she was in a defenseless posture. Well, this is the place to doze and enjoy one’s self. He said fondly, he came here often to reflect in the pool, and bask in the limited shade.

The mares feathered hooves started to move forward into the water. She was so hot as the afternoon sun beat down on her black and white pelt. Turning to look back at the large stallion, she said softly m'lord can i ask what your calling is ?
Freedoms mind was in a random state she was thinking about the water one minute and the stallion another minute and her past the next. She did not like it when her mind did this. She tried to control it but it never worked. Walking out to the middle of the lake where the water was up to her white belly, she lipped the water and began to blow bubbles in the water. Her mothers saying was you have to let loose sometimes.

Freedom lashed her tail in the water and twirled torwards the stallion. She looked into his brown orbs and just watched them. Want to go for a swim ? She looked down at the water and watched the ripples fade away.

It always seemed that no matter what the season was on the rest of the island, the south was always a scorcher when the sun was out, and when the night managed to squeak its way in, it did so with force and frigid temps. How strange was it that the calmest and fairest lead stallion was the ruler of the harshest and unforgiving lands. Perhaps it was better this way; there was a balance to his world. But Syfthe could care less for things were flowing smoothly, unlike the surface of the pond. The great beast of a femme had plunged herself into the liquid to cool down. m'lord can i ask what your calling is ? Head recoiled as ears pricked towards the black and white female, he was quite sure that he had addressed himself upon their initial encounter, but quickly his surprise was wafted away by his sexist tendencies, women were always forgetting things or distracted by the smallest of ideas. His shocked face spread into a soft understanding, he would humor her, for what else could he do, females would just never learn. Syfthe, M’lady. But you may address me as whatever you wish. He lowered his skull towards her and shot the great draft a warm smile and devilish eye.

She was quite a strange one, for she did not stop as the waters rose over her massive frame, but began swimming. Want to go for a swim ? Once again he was taken back by her question, the stallion had never swam for the mear pleasure, perhaps to cross a large river for greener pasture but never just for the fun of things. Why, because swimming wasn’t exactly fun for the fair-haired gentleman. I hate to decline a lady, but I must reject your offer. I don’t swim. His words were not bashing her, no he could never fault a women for being so unmannish, so the well toned equine strode canon deep into the now brown waters. What was fun in ponds was pawing, his massive legs struck at the liquid sending it flying in all directions. Beat that splash if you can. Of course she could, her hooves were the size of boulders, but a gentlemen should always let a lady win, for how else would they come out victorious?
