The Official Plot
Version 1.0 - China Doll

August 2007
New York City, New York

Gangster movies, mafia fiction, the whole film noir genre had its heyday a long time ago. They, like pirates and cowboys and all that shit, fell out of the public eye, and their romantic image faded along with their decline in fame. But the mafia, the mob, the gangsters, they aren't dead. Far from it.

Far from it.

It's 2007, the present day. Two families are vying for power over the five burgs of New York. The Sicilians, the Costantinis, and the Black Irish, the O'Sullivans, are both old New York families. The Costantinis held power from the first, all the way back in the late 1800s, while the O'Sullivans had been a name only from the '60s, after the death of Jamison Ó Taidhg.

Leopoldo Costantini is ailing. Everyone, from Leopoldo's nephew Nicodemo, to the head of the O'Sullivans, Richard. The whole of the underworld wants Leopold dead, because if he dies, his territories, all his protection deals, the rackets he runs and the prostitutes he manages, all of it would be open.

All of it would be there, and the man with the quickest hand could have it.

Chapter One
August 5, 2007
Chinatown, Manhattan, New York City, New York

Oranges, limes, lemons litter the street, the smell of citrus mingling with that of the blood, of the gun smoke. Three men dead in as many days, all in Manhattan, all in Chinatown. And all of them, all three, Costantini men, and higher ups.

The most recent killed, Livio Evangelista, lay among the scattered fruit, three bullet holes in him, one in his face, two in his gut. He was capo of the Evangelistas, a Sicilian family loyal to the Costantinis. A warning, like the other two murders, to Costantini loyal families.

A warning from the Black Irish.

Livio was a family man. In his hand was a china doll, its face cracked in the fall. A china doll he bought for his daughter Marinella.

As much as it was a warning, it was also a challenge to the Sicilians.

And the Sicilians would answer.
