Title: Screamers V. Furies

They both fly. They both kill. One is better than the other. Which one? I'd say Screamers myself, since the slash attack will send most artillary crew running (well, if it was possible to run after having your insides torn out!) or for tying up lone characters.

What do you guys think? I havent used Furies, but are they worth taking?

Well i think you have to bare in mind with the new crossfire rule (which needs unit strength of 5+) it far easier and cheaper to get a unit of furies for this than screamers (being half the price). Screamers outclass them as mage/art hunters but then screamers have the major flaw of being tzeentch only (or chaos undecided ;) ).

Personally i take Furies (however im a khorne player), for me with the crossfire rule these are certainly on of the key units to my army, for around 90pts i have a 6 man, dear causing unit able to take out art, will general autobreak (bar insane courage) any art unit and still have a fair chance even if they dont cause wounds.

Basicly the unit strength that lets screamers down but they are still a very nice fast unit.

Furies will do the trick of "Crossfiring " better than the Screamers..that's true, but I would personally take more than 6 to be able to perform the trick, because they are a well searched target for magic missiles, which make their Deamonic Save useless
Better use units of 9 or 10 to be sure, that they will keep that 5+ unit strenght :D

As for Screamers... due to the new rules the Characters ( read Wizards) won't be walking around on their own that much, beacuse they can be targeted separatly. They will shelter in units, so the man hunting thing has become nearly useless for our coloured birds.
What they do very well is scaring the hell out of pesky Fast Cav, who's trying to get to your flank and to attack Warmacine Crew to silence that Cannon or Boltthrower. A unit of 3 will do these jobs very well. :daemon

If you don't know upfront which army you will be facing.... why don't you use them both ?
For your opponent are two flying units hard to concentrate on,and you can pick your objectives at will.
And you will have total Air dominiation if you throw in an Excalted Tzeentch marked Deamon... :D , but that's another topic I believe....

Very good advice, jagbowl. Thanks. I'll beef up my screamer unit and throw in a couple of Furies to sweeten the deal. If I'm gonna go with dominance. I may aswell take to the skies as well as on land. Thanks!
