Title: Riddle Me This
funnyface - March 26, 2005 09:15 PM (GMT)
Thought we could all try something new. Unlike the Trivial Pursuit, I think it's about time we have a thread for riddles. And I welcome any kind of riddles, funny, stupid, brain teasers, or just plain ridiculous ones.
In case anyone's rusty on riddles, here's a classic one: What is black, white, and red all over?
The answer: A newpaper. It's black, white and read all over.
That was just an example. It's a 'play on words' riddle so to speak, but like I said, any kind you want, post it.
I think the rules are pretty simple. Post a riddle. Person who answers correctly post another riddle and so on. And if there's a riddle that no one can figure out within a certain number of days (I guess we can follow the Riddlemark Game Rules and have it be 5 days), then the answer will have to be revealed by the poster. Anyone can then post a riddle.
Edit: Actually, I don't think it matters whether we take turns or not. Not everyone will have new riddles to post and I don't want that to prevent them from playing if they knew an answer. It might work better if we just have one riddle posted at a time. And when that is resolved, anyone is free to post a new riddle if they have one. To clarify, this rule will also follow the 5 day period where the poster will give the answer if no one has figured it out 5 days after.
Anyone interested? (Let me know and I'll start.)

This is fun. You're right, it will play faster if anybody can post as soon as there is an answer, even if the answerer doesn't have a riddle.
Cool!

Happy Easter people! Today will be the last day to vote on the rules...so we can get this game started.
aramantha- glad you think that's cool. ^_^
Cat_on_my_head - March 27, 2005 10:11 PM (GMT)
Actually, I believe the correct answer to the question "What's black and white and red all over?" is a sunburned zebra. ;)
Hehe, this is a fun idea! I really don't care how we do it though. I don't know what I want my vote to be.
aramantha - March 27, 2005 10:15 PM (GMT)
Really? When I was in third grade we said it was a skunk with diaper rash. ^_^
funnyface - March 27, 2005 10:25 PM (GMT)
Well, I guess there are multiple answers to that one. Depends on which one they tell you. :P
funnyface - March 28, 2005 02:54 AM (GMT)
I don't think there's going to be anymore votes and unless we get at least 4 votes on the first rule, the second rule is going to go into effect. I think we can get started, if there are no objections.
aramantha - March 28, 2005 03:06 AM (GMT)
It looks like the free-form version is going to win. It has been a holiday weekend -- how about just giving it til Monday when everyone will be back school, or at work sneaking TP time on the job and stuff?
funnyface - March 28, 2005 03:08 AM (GMT)
That is true. Momentarily forgotten about that. Yes, that's a good idea.

We said a zebra in a blender.

 Man, I can't wait til we get a real riddle up here. The juvenile folklore is already getting good.
funnyface - March 29, 2005 11:07 PM (GMT)
Those were good. A bit bloody for my taste... :P
So, the poll has been up since the weekend and we had a few more votes added. However, the result stands: free posting for all (when there isn't one, of course).
Let's get the ball rolling.
Note to any Adm., feel free to close the poll, or remove it.
funnyface - March 30, 2005 01:02 AM (GMT)
Let's start. I'm not going to break out a major brain teaser just yet...so, here's a simpler one to begin with:
What travals all over the world, yet stays in a corner?
aramantha - March 30, 2005 01:50 AM (GMT)
Hah! so much for the grand play scheme. ^_^ I'm going to have to wait til you tell me i'm right anyway, because I'm not sure:
A letter resting in its envelope?
(By all means, somebody else guess too.)
funnyface - March 30, 2005 02:10 AM (GMT)
That could work. But it's not exactly what I was going for. Very close to what I was looking for though...
aramantha - March 30, 2005 02:47 AM (GMT)
Ah! The stamp in the corner of the envelope, yes? ^_^
funnyface - March 30, 2005 02:52 AM (GMT)
Oh, wait, I forgot about the corner part. So, yeah, the letter wouldn't have worked. But you got it. It is the stamp.
Anyone with a riddle, feel free to post it.

How many psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb?
Belorin - March 30, 2005 07:22 AM (GMT)
Only one, but the light bulb truly has to want to change.
Riddle:
Born at the same time as the world, destined to live as long as the world, and yet never five weeks old. What is it?

Riddle: There is a truth teller and a liar. You travel and end up at a fork, where one path is safe and other is not. Before the fork is the truth teller and the liar. What one question can you ask them that would make both of them tell you which way is safe?
jemlibris - April 2, 2005 04:54 AM (GMT)
Which way is unsafe, & believe the truthteller?
funnyface - April 2, 2005 06:18 PM (GMT)
Wait, let me get this straight. So, the question you're going to ask is just "Which way is safe?" right?
SakuraKinomoto03 - April 2, 2005 06:36 PM (GMT)
You don't know which one is the truthteller and which one is the liar, right? I thought that was the point.
funnyface - April 2, 2005 08:15 PM (GMT)
I'm sorry. Let me correct what I wrote before. Yes, Sakura's right. The reason we have to get both of them to tell you the right way is because you don't know which is who.

You should ask them both which road would the other say is unsafe. They would both point to the safe road.

My mother feels I am a pain
Yet with her I do remain
Till I leave at last her house
For the breast of a rich man's spouse.
What am I?
