Title: Edward Scissorhands Paintings

SakuraKinomoto03 - January 24, 2006 10:59 PM (GMT)
A woman commissioned me to do two paintings of Edward Scissorhands. Here's one of them (the other one is on my camera itself, and I don't know what happened to the cord for that):

Edward Scissorhands

It was done in oils on a 16x20 canvas.

That is very fabulous Sakura! I love the movie - and your picture just reminds me so much of the character! Beautiful! ^_^

Thanks a lot Ivy! I'm glad you like it ^^ I actually paused the movie in order to paint it, so it's a slightly altered still from a scene at the end (When Winona Ryder comes looking for him).

Wow, that's wonderful! You really are gifted. I hope we get to see the other one too. ^_^

Thanks, 'Mantha! I'll need to get a new usb cord eventually, anyway, so when I do, I'll be able to put up the other picture.

That's awesome!!! Now I think I have seen some of your art posted before. Do you just do sketching and painting as a hobby? You have some great talent!

So, I had to paint copies of the paintings, which meant I was able to take a picture of the first painting I did, and I took a picture of one of the copies (the other copy was really very similar to the second painting I did, only I thought it wasn't as good). I think this copy turned out much better than the first (which is no surprise because the original painting was done while I was going on a second all-nighter in a row and having not done an oil painting since senior year of high school). So, here they both are (The source for the paintings was the movie poster, though the dimensions had to be altered):

They're both great! I see what you mean about the second one. The lines of the buildings, hair and scissors look a bit sharper. I like the look of the first one too though. To me, the hair in the first painting looks like it almost becomes part of the weather. I think it has a more turbulent, uneasy feel and look about it, which I like.

I really admire your talent!

Thanks! :D

Yeah, the woman I painted these for liked the roughness of the first one, but I guess when I look at the first one, I see the roughness and such as exhaustion and inexperience, rather than my own intent. I guess I'm really happy with the copy because it shows what I've learned while doing those four paintings.
