Eventually you may want to discuss the contents of the new book to be released. Not everyone knows how to mask spoilers when posting, and I was wondering when everyone would be getting their copies and by when they hope to have it read. Please vote, as the information might be handy in establishing when we could discuss the book freely without spoiling it for others.

I voted. I read OotP in 10 hours. I plan on taking longer for HBP, but it's still not going to take more than a day in all likelihood.

I gotta say... I didn't like the idea of two separate lit boards, but I understand the need. Will it be possible (after an appropriate amount of time) to combine the two boards?

I'd love to read HBP quickly, but with Matt coming home that same day (hopefully), I doubt I'll have much time to sit and read. We're going to be busy moving and what not. I'm quite okay with just avoiding any HBP thread, when I find the time to get online, until I've finished though.

Of course if he's not coming home then, I'll probably get it finished quite quickly...a day or two at the most.

I think what we did last time went well. We set up the spoiler thread ahead of time, kept all new book contents to the spoiler thread for a month. That way discussions can begin whenever people are done. I think the month timeperiod last time was a good one. It gave people enough time to finish it at whatever rate they wanted, and it allowed people in places with delayed releases time to get the books.

Re: two lit boards. This time is a little different just because we don't have the mountains of existing discussions we did last time. I would be open to simply making the existing lit board the spioler board if people are cool with that. Realize people who haven't finished HBP give up lit discussion there. What do people thing about this? Because it sure would make the moderator job a lot easier.

Spoilers gotten ahead of time (We'll probably start getting clues from the publishers as we get close again.) need a place to go, though. We could just set up a thread here designated at the Pre-HBP spoiler thread, which could get moved once the book is released.

Sounds good.

Ditto-plan to read it within a couple of days and will be absolutely itching to discuss it so that sounds good! I don't plan on experiencing any kind of media until after I'm done such as TV, radio, paper or internet as I don't want to know what happens before I read it so it won't bother me

I say discussion can start as soon as anyone finishes the book. I know when I finished ootp I didn't even shower until I'd discussed my little heart out on tp.
As for spoiler boards, I agree w/ Cat. The only reason we had the seperate board last time was because our old Lit board was massive. I don't think we really need it here. Just read the Lit board at your own risk until you finish HBP.
I think we do need to enforce nonspoiler policies i all other forums though. Just because maybe mercurystar hasn't finished the book doesn't mean she shouldn't be able to pop on here and say hello or whatnot for fear of seeing something she doesn't want to see. This would be most prevelent in general discussion and the game threads.

If we're going to stay in the same board, should we have spoiler threads? For example, should all HBP-related threads have something like "**HBP Spoilers**" in the title? I think there should be warnings like that within the lit board rather than just letting the spoilers run wild. Maybe an instruction in the lit board rules about only posting spoilers in spoiler marked threads until the spoiler period is over?

What Cat is saying makes sense.
