Newell in EW:
"I'm terribly pleased with the film," says director Mike Newell (Donnie Brasco) of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the fourth movie adapted from J.K. Rowling's series of novels, due Nov. 18. In two weeks, Newell will screen his work (minus completed special effects) for Warner Bros. brass for the first time. Nervous? "Of course!" he says. "This is a story where the kids [are] now teenagers. Is the audience ready for an older Harry Potter? They bought the book--I just hope we present a Harry Potter they want to see." Couldn't have set the stakes better ourselves.

This from Mugglenet: Gary Oldman has 'tiny part' in GOFThe actor who plays Sirius Black recently said the following in an interview with IGN: "I'll disappoint you because I'm just a tiny, tiny little part in the next one. I'm just embers in the fire. But if I do Harry Potter five, I'm featured in five. And, oh, they'll have to pay me big bucks for that. (He laughs)"We laugh. The lovely Mr Oldman seems to be onto a good thing. Imagine OotP without Sirius!

GoF tidbits: Scan of EW's spot on Ralph FiennesKnown for tightly wound men on the verge of implosion, Fiennes gets to uncork in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as the most mythic villain in contemporary fiction, Lord Voldemort (Sorry Darth). Immoral Fixation: So how does one play the incarnation of evil? "Good Question," says Fiennes, laughing. "My inclination was to underplay it, but you can't underplay Voldemort. He is evil. What I wanted was a you-never-know-what-he'll-do-next quality. My nephews and nieces visited the set-they were quite taken aback. Probably because I was bald." ComicCon Interview w/ Mike NewellSo because were were making one, not two films, and something had to be let go, we decided the Dursleys were one of those things. We were sad about it. What's good about it being one movie is that the Tri-Wizard Tournament and Voldemort's plot to get Harry become very taut and very exciting because a lot of the purely descriptive stuff in the novel must be let go. That means the main story becomes a very tight, exciting, fast-paced thriller. Of course, what you miss are the fascinating little details, which in some cases, there just isn't room for. So it's swings and roundabouts what can I tell you?
