I found this and thought it was a lot of fun and could bear resucitating
(and I can't seem to make it into second year by creating sentences alone)aramanthaThis is an old, old game that used to be called "Tom Swifties", after a character in a children's book series.
It consists of a sentence said by a character, followed by an adverb that puns on the sentence, in the plot context, in some way. Harry Potter series has oodles of material for this!
Example:
"Yeah, I did my bit bringing him back to life," said Wormtail offhandedly.
WiLLoWZ"Harry, you will not interfere and get in trouble to help me!" said Sirius doggedly.
This proved a little difficult for me aramantha, but I think I found one that works!!
aramantha it gets easier as you lose your self-respect. . .
Try filling in this one:
"___________________________," said ______ grimly.
or
"___________________________" said _______ archly.
cat_on_my_headOkay, I have been thinking about this all day, so here goes:
"Harry, be here by the fire again tomorrow night at the same time," Sirius said hotheadedly.
WiLLoWz"Harry you'll never be good at Divination if you're dead," said Professor Trelawney grimly.
ophie"No matter what you say Lucious, I believe Draco gets his stunning looks from my side of the family," said Narcissa egotistically.
Aelionwell they are fun to read but yeah a bit hard to do.
"Are you making a crack about my height?" said hagrid shortly.
"It'd be just horrible if somebody died!" said belletrix archly.
(that was a set-up!)
"Why do I keep seeing black dogs?" asked Harry grimly. (::shrug:
Aelionok so they are a bit fun
"We would never set off fireworks at school!" said fred explosively.
"I'd like to find a way to beat the slytherins" said harry,
"And I a way to join the headless hunt" Sir Nick Appended.
(not sure that works?)
acciofirebolt29oh, oh, I have one...
"I do not have my head in the clouds!" said Luna, dreamily!!!
aramantha"Now, who do you know that's lost a buttock"" said the violet-haired witch cheekily.
"I'm not having Hagrid cry on my shoulder twice in one afternoon," said Harry flatly.
