All right then... it's time to get this going again...

So I think we all know the drill- discuss what's news, what's updated, etc...

So far, the door on JKRowling Website
has given us

1. The title of Book 6

2. A clue & description of a character in Half-Blood Prince

3. The titles of 3 chapters

The door opened on October 31st and closed again on November 15th.

I've a feeling that those chapter titles are the ones that JKR has sent to her agents along with the book outline, so that the agents can begin negotiations for the publication of the new book.

On the Mugglenet website I notice there is a rumour that Scholastic has put aside two June 2005 dates for the launching of the Half-Blood prince. Such rumours suggest that publishing negotiations are under way.

There still is an agenda item about HBP on JKR's notice board (reached by the coffee cup link) along with other day-to-day doings, including the August 15th Edinburgh Festival. This is also the most recent News item showing on the main page.

Given that JKR has been involved in other public events since then, and there has been no mention of end of November appearances in connection with the release of the POA DVD, it will be interesting to see just what will be the next news item.

I doubt the chapter choice relates to what JKR has sent to her agent. It is much more likely they were chosen on how much they give away, so they don't give away too much or too little (eg. from book 4 "The Hungarian Horntail" would have told us a lot, "The Dream" would have told us almost nothing).

I mentioned this over in the Chapters discussion, but I think the chapters revealed on JKR's site also point to the total number of chapters in HBP.

You start out at chapter 2, then add 4 to get to chapter 6, then add 8 to get to chapter 14. It's a pattern where you double the number to add each time. That means you would next add 16, which would take you to chapter 30. And seeing as how I doubt HBP will have 62 chapters, I'm betting HBP has a total of 30 chapters.

Just a theory.

Actually, no. You wouldn't believe how difficult it is to type all this stuff while having to constantly minimize and re-size the browser window whenever someone walks by. wink.png

Plus, it didn't take a lot of time. It's just the math major/former math teacher in me.

So, I just found the magical earaser. And suddenly, Silverstar's earaser doesn't seem so random anymore...
