Impossible Requests

...Kaguya offers you her hand in marriage only if you can complete the Impossible Requests, a series of trials thought up by Kaguya to prevent you from actually marrying her. Challenging the trials will allow you to stay at Eientei, and completing them all would presumably lead to Kaguya route. However, if you go for a different route while taking the trials, Kaguya will begin to get jealous and try to thwart your efforts using underhanded means.

The ideas for the Impossible Requests so far:

"Bring me Mokou's panties." Kaguya sends you on a mission to retrieve her rival's panties, knowing that getting her panties would be suicidal for any man. However, what anon doesn't know is that Mokou doesn't wear panties, she goes commando. Kaguya knows this, and uses it to defeat cheating suitors who would get a pair of panties from a different source and claim them as Mokou's. You pass the trial if you come back and tell her she doesn't wear panties. Extra: One way Anon could find out about Mokou's panties(or lack thereof) is to cut a deal with her as a double-agent.

"Catch the Tewi!" Kaguya orders Tewi to not allow herself to be caught by you, or else. There could be a few ways of tricking Tewi into getting caught, and there could be a window for opening up Tewi route. Not much has been covered as to what specifically takes place here, just think of it as that scene in Dragon Ball where Goku has to catch that monkey to start his training on the moon or something.


"A drink to your health!" The first Request isn't a direct request at all. Kaguya and Eirin offer you some tea/alcohol and you drink it. Little does Anon know the tea is laced with Eirin's new shady drug, with a 75% chance of killing him outright. Anon lives, however, as long as he can manage to catch Tewi in a later challenge(luck bonus). A few days later Eirin and Kaguya congratulate you on passing your first test, saying something like:
"Do you remember that ceremonial tea you drank when we celebrated the commencement of the Requests? Yeah, yours was laced with some new stuff Eirin cooked up. We figured it had a 75% chance of killing you. Congratulations, though: It worked, which means you're now immune to measles, the cold, intestinal cancer, and tuberculosis! Oh, and mosquitoes won't be a problem for you anymore."
If Anon fails, he suddenly dies(FOX....) and leaves the player wondering what the fuck just happened.

"Bring me Reisen's Diary."
You only get this one if you inspire enough jealousy in Kaguya by going for Reisen route. She purposely designs this request to put a gap between you and Reisen, without a "win" situation available. If you refuse to do it, Kaguya boots you out of Eientei. If you are successful, she reads the contents aloud to everyone and let Reisen know it was you who gave it to her. If you try to cheat and Kaguya catches you.... She does something bad. Very bad. This challenge is about testing your relationship with Reisen. Does Anon put Reisen's feelings first and decline the Request, earning him a boot out of Eientei? Does he complete the challenge and try to work it over with Reisen(it will not be easy)? Does he attempt to cheat Kaguya in such a way that he isn't caught? Find out next time on Touhou Ball!
note:Maybe Anon reads a little of it himself and finds out Reisen's written quite a lot about him...

"Endure the Pupils of Frenzy."
Under Reisen's gaze, you must take on one hundred fierce moon demons. Naked. Upside down. On the moon. During a blizzard. At least it seems that way. Chances are you're fighting one little moon rabbit and you're on the brink of going insane and receiving permanent brain damage. There's more to it but I don't really recall it.

Reisen Route - Kaguya Cruelty
Towards the end of Reisen route, Kaguya gets annoyed with Anon favoring Reisen over her. Of course Reisen and Anon try to keep their growing fondness a secret, but Kaguya sees. Its an insult to her, having a lowly bunny steal the heart of her new toy. So during a special dinner between just Kaguya and Anon, Reisen is made a servant to bring in their food and drink. Kaguya does something humiliating to Reisen, like splash the drink at her saying its horrible and insulting her. If Anon chooses to slap Kaguya, the princess is shocked that a mere simple human would treat her in such a way and runs from the room crying to Eirin.
Its basically a "punish the spoiled girl" type of thing. Kaguya seems Anon as more of a man because of it, though she is no stranger to pain from fighting with Mokou.

Reisen's Guns
Reisen is a former soldier, so she knows guns. She might still have her moon weapon as a keepsake, and collect some guns from Kourin purely as a hobby. She is in no way a gun nut.

Marksmanship
Eirin and Reisen practice their marksmanship on a small shooting range they made out of whatever. Eirin does badass things with arrows and danmaku, while Reisen just uses danmaku (using guns doesn't really fit in well with Gensokyo). Eirin might joke about Anon putting an apple on his head.

Harvest Moon - Lunar Festival
A few days after the Village's Harvest Festival (which occurs on the Vernal Equinox) could be the Harvest Moon (the full moon closest to the VE) The harvest moon often appears bigger or brighter and more colorful than other moons. Eientei has monthly Lunar Festivals during the full moon.

From Cage in Lunatic Runagate:
"Today is the day of the Monthly Lunar Festival. This festival is held every month on the night of the full moon, when the Earth and the Moon are closest. The festival uses round objects, such as dumplings, as fake full moons in a symbolic attempt to keep the full moon far away. If the moon is far away, then the moon's emissaries will stay away, as well. Of course, I was the one who first thought up this festival.

Now, the rabbits should be in the garden, making dumplings. The dumplings they make have various sorts of medicine cooked into them, according to my directions. This medicine is significant for two reasons. One is that, while we say that the rabbit on the moon pounds rice cakes, they're really making medicine, and the other is it's likely that the rabbits will eat some of the dumplings as they make them. Since the dumplings have medicine in them to make the rabbits more excited, the festival will be all the more lively if they sneak some to eat, as I expect they will. "

So they could have a special Lunar Festival for that. It would be a good way to explore Eirin/Kaguya/Reisen's past.



Cage in Lunatic Runagate itself is pretty good story set and gives some different glimpses into the Lunarians' thoughts and personalities.

Eientei Timeline and Founding.

???
Kaguya is banished to Earth as punishment for drinking the Hourai Elixir.

~700 AD.
Kaguya rejects Mokou's father (Fujiwara no Whatever) and so Mokou is determined to attack Kaguya. She meets her somehow, and finds out Kaguya is immortal. Mokou leaves to go train to find some way to defeat her.

~700 + 6 years
Lunarians return to take Kaguya back, having served her punishment. Kaguya wants to stay, and so Eirin kills the emissaries and they flee together. Mokou returns a few days later to find out they are gone, but hears that Kaguya left something for the only guy she actually liked. Thus Mokou unknowingly goes after the Hourai Elixir.

700 - 1500
Eirin and Kaguya are still on the run. The world changes and eventually Youkai have to hide for safety as well. Eirin and Kaguya hear about Gensokyo from a traveling youkai, since Yukari is advertising Gensokyo and trying to gather youkai to the last safe haven. (maybe for Lunar Attack?). Regardless, if this place is an isolated haven from the world, it could help them hide form the Lunarians.

~1500?
Eirin and Kaguya arrive in Gensokyo, and go to the Bamboo Forest because Kaguya has an affinity for bamboo. They build a shack and use the Spell of Eternity to keep it up. However Kaguya is a useless doll of a princess and Eirin is a pharmacist, not a carpenter. The house is unimpressive, but Kaguya uses her Spell of Eternity to protect them and keep it up. Lunarians give up chasing them.

~1600
Tewi, who claims to be in charge of the Bamboo Forest of the Lost and is unaffected by the spell, meets them and offers a deal: the bunnies will build them a mansion if they can stay as well. However Kaguya has to drop her spell for a bit. Admittedly I wonder why Tewi would bother, but she is whimsical and the Lunarians are naturally very captivating and attractive so its reasonable. Thus the current Eientei is created. Kaguya may or may not turn back on the Spell of Eternity again.

Mokou finds Kaguya. They kill and love each other long time.

1969
Apollo 11 lands on moon. Lunar Invasion War begins.

1970
Eirin does something to sabotage Apollo 13.

1990s
Reisen runs from battle and escapes to Gensokyo to find the famous exiles for protection. Eirin is suspicious and fearful of being attacked again, but sees it as an opportunity. Eventually they let her join Eientei and now they have access of knowing the current events on the moon, since Reisen can talk to the other moon bunnies.

3 years ago.
Reisen gets word emissaries coming to take her back to the moon (they may want Eirin as well, since her wisdom would be useful in this war.) Eirin and Kaguya decide to defend Reisen, but don't want to kill the emissaries since that means they'll be hunted again. Imperishable Night occurs. Spell of Eternity, if not already broken, is certainly now. Many people in Gensokyo know know of Eientei's existence by rumor. Time slowly moves forward for Eientei as they lose their eternity and become "corrupted" by Earth, even enough that they even open up a small clinic in the village to prescribe medicine. Heck, their food spoils now that the spell is broken, so they need a means to get income.


This is how the Gentlemen Callers things starts. I doubt the Village would see Kaguya often if at all, but Eirin's beauty is more than enough to inspire reckless young men to try to win the princess. Of course, they usually get lost in the bamboo forest and Mokou has to save them, so Mokou tends to think that the people who like Kaguya are idiots. This is why Mokou gets irritated when she sees Anon take interest in Eientei (guilt by association).
