Title: DeLorean - Original Design
Description: my 4th year thesis project

Talon4ce - February 9, 2012 04:34 AM (GMT)
Oh dear god I am insane.

I cranked out G1 Prime in 3 weeks for $83 in materials, let's see what I can do with (estimated) $300-500 and a deadline of April 20th.

Long story short: I have to do a thesis project in order to graduate university and so I decided to go with something I know but make it insanely challenging.

I'll be making a transforming G1-ish DeLorean costume. And yeah, it's gonna be tricked out like Doc Brown's time machine. Why? Because Back to the Future, that's why.

Updates on this thread will probably be very infrequent with a majority of my progress being posted after completion simply because I won't have time to do a 'play-by-play'.

Stay tuned! (but really, go have a sandwich, take the dog for a walk, defeat Skyrim, cuz this could take a while)

Will the whole budget go on exterior design, or are you thinking of including an LED flux capacitor, head and tail lights, rotating wheels etc?

Is the helmet design going to look like Doc?

That's what I want to know! XD

Blessings! This is gonna be cool to see once it's done! :)

Even if the helmet design doesn't look like Doc it should have his (slightly) crazy smile. Just saying.

And OMG yes. I so look forward to pics.

Will you be patterning it after Micromaster Swindler, fancharacter Steelskin, or a different transformation altogether (the MarksProjects Lamborghini costume, perhaps?)

So... guess what isn't finished. I did get the lights to work and all the pieces are built and the whole transformation thing works so at least the thesis part of it is done. However, it doesn't meet my standards and I gotta rebuild what I've got so far. At least I haven't even touched the vinyl I bought.

Transformation (omg don't laugh this is so stupid): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rt1us-13fGo

It's still in progress. New completion deadline: July 1, 2012

That's going to be cool once you get all the details worked out.
