It's been a while since I've posted an introduction thread anywhere but uhh, here we go.
I'm Kopaka13, real name withheld, 18 years old and living in Chicago. I've always been interested in cosplay but never put loads of effort into my costumes (L from Death Note and Madarame from Genshiken are just regular lookin' people and Aradia Megido from Homestuck was a bit rushed). Additionally I've always been planning some super-crazy robot costume designs such as Bumblebee, Onua from Bionicle, and some Robot Masters from Mega Man but never really found a means to do any of them.
I've been really interested lately in doing a robot Aradia costume (pictured elegantly
here) and figured that, while this forum is primarily for Transformers stuff, I've lurked around a good deal and thought I might be able to find some tips anyways.
Since it's more of a sleek sort of robot-armor design instead of the bulky mecha sorts that use plexiglass or plastic, I was considering doing a craft foam sort of thing (a la
this tutorial) with maybe some other details like a gray bodysuit and some body parts made of different materials. Since the original media is a really simplified webcomic, I've been doing some concept sketches to add a bit of realism instead of bendy arms and legs and a plain old square torso.
