Would anyone use it? Would it be redundant? Laserbot's post about the BB costume from Anime Fest made me think about it... it could be used for our costumes and other costumes that we find on the internet, I think.

Thoughts?

I think it would be helpful since I think a lot of people might be scared to point out flaws or ways of improvement in worklogs for fear of sounding condescending and uppity. If we submit our costumes to a crit forum then that's taken out of play.

I think we should avoid discussion about other peoples costumes. If we make it it should just be a place for people to ask for constructive criticism on their own costumes.

I think this sounds like a good idea.

Sure, I'm all for seeing where I can improve on things and whatnot and hearing suggestions and advice and the occasional "WTF?" , but what I do hesitate about is the people who aren't members here who've made TF costumes. I'm not sure they would appreciate it if someone here on the forums made a comment that to the original creator sounded like the person was totally ripping their costuming skills and/or construction methods (Not that I think that would happen here, since we're all a pretty good bunch of folks. biggrin.gif ) Maybe if we get some kind of okay from the costumer before we critique them?

But like I said, I'm all for it. Just throwing out the precautionary red flag.

i think constructive criticism is a great way to help grow as an artist so im all for it! however it should be only allowed if the person themselves creates a topic for their own costume to be discussed in an responsable and positive fasion. just as long as people keep it in their heads that they give criticism to help the other improve then its all good the danger is when people simply rip on others costumes to make themselves feel supirior... none of that...

Perhaps only create topics for non-forum costumes when there's a positive comment to go with them?

We could post a link or picture and say what we like about a costume, whether it be the construction, the materials, the design, the how-I-did-it website, the character, the artistry, anything.

Maybe do it by submission basis. People submit their costume to be critiqued. It goes up for a week to a month where members comment and at the end of the term, the creator/owner of said costume can reply. Then the next costume is posted in order of when it was submitted.

Hm, all good ideas! And yeah, you're all probably right about the not-our-costume thing.

I really don't think that we'd have a problem with comments getting out of hand... you're all good people. :3 Though if I do find comments getting too harsh, I'll just have to make the forum moderated.

I was also trying to think of some way to perhaps make it anonymous? But that would have been too complicated to do safely with the stuff provided with the invisionfree control panel... unless...

Perhaps I made it so that you could post anonymously (i.e. as a guest), but also make the forum moderated to prevent spam and/or rude comments from passerby?

What do you all think?

I like the idea!

Though maybe just about the costumes the person who made it posts. It would feel a bit wierd/wrong to give critique on costumes we randomly found on internet.
And as long as it's not just "this looks bad" and somthing more like "that leg looks like it should be smaller there and maybe to that and that" and give some tips along with the critique to help improving? But ppl here is great so I think I'll work just fine ;D
