Welcome to TCos, the internet's most comprehensive resource for everything about robot cosplay. We are a dedicated community focused on building the best costumes ever to grace the fandom. We dig helping, we dig learning, but most of all, we dig giant robots!

TCos Wants to Move!

Want to help TCos get its own forum, complete with image galleries, wiki, articles, info databases, and more? Then we need your help!

So the $100 goal has so far been met-- but I'll be leaving the donation link up until the move because as far as hosting goes, you really can't have enough funds saved up for that sort of thing. Thanks to everyone who contributes!

Anyone done 'em?

Glowing LED Costume Eyes

I saw this on youtube and wondered if it couldn't be altered for a mech cosplay instead. Only problem I see is how you have to put the black tube in the center so you don't burn out your eyes staring at LEDs all day long. *cringe* And that would show but if you were to cover the 'optic' with a colored sheet of acrylic or something like that, would it show as much I wonder?

I know that kick-ass Smokescreen cosplayer seems to have pulled it off but that's the only LED optics I've seen yet. I couldn't find anything on instructibles either.

That's pretty cool but I think the same thing could be accomplished with EL sheets which would be a lot easier. As far as the eye hole goes I'd just get rid of it and put the optics above your eyes and then just make a viewing area below them, I'm pretty sure that's how Pilot made her mask so you can talk to her about it more.

That's actually a really neat idea, but unfortunately, TFers don't really have pupils, so a hole you can see through wouldn't work, like 1301300 said.

I shall definitely store away that bit of knowledge, though. :]

I know but I'm thinking that if you use colored plexy and maybe don't make the protective ring touch the plexy, with some careful angling, it might not show as much. Since I have NO idea how to use those EL sheets, I'm totally lost. Making fake optics is an idea though and placing them higher on my head. Eh, I'm a loooong way from there so I'll see when I get there.

You would hook up the el-sheet close to the same way you would hook up LEDs. It comes in a large sheet that you can cut to size, with a couple of leads on it that you would use to hook up the power.

It would be tricky I'm sure, but very interesting. I know that's what we used for Wheeljack's ear pieces was LED's smile.gif
