Hi guys! I want to cosplay as Starscream or Knockout. Right now I don't know who I want to be. I just love SS design and his wings but the thing that is pushing me away from cosplaying him is those heels. I wouldn't be able to walk in heels all day D:. I have flat feet. So its quite painful for me to be in heels. If you have any suggestion on making shoes that looks like they are heels please feel free to give some pointers. If not I will go with Knockout. I'm just confused on how I will start Ko helm and face. Also what I find quite difficult is that in Canada we don't get the privilege to have supplies for cosplay making like in the states. Does anyone have any idea where I can get supplies from?
Thanks

If you're that set on being Starscream, try something with smaller heels. Those might be easier on your feet, but walk around in whatever you choose first. I went in GoGo Boots last BotCon...my feet hated me so much after that, so pick something comfortable, lol. As for materials, there are some great resources on this site's wiki, such as here. That can be a great place to start, though I'm sure other members could give even more recommendations ^^

Well. Both Starscream and Knockout are quite popular these days, so you could probs find someone to help you with either if you got stuck on something. Me, personally, I was looking at either Screamer or Arcee, but eventually decided on Arcee because of the heels. What I would probably have done if I did go with heels, though, is make the feet a little large, and make the heel independent of the foot. Meaning, you wouldn't put any weight on the heel at all, it would just poke out the back of your foot. 'Course, your platforms would have to be angled, but I guess it wouldn't be nearly as bad as those slaggin' heels. (heels fill me with rage. it is not possible to walk in them. >.>) Or, you could make platforms, and then just dress them up to look like heels, you know what I mean? If I'm not making sense I can draw it out. XD
Another think you have to consider about Screamer is his posture. He's pretty hunched, which, if you decide to incorporate that into your costume, could put quite a crick in your spine by the end of the day.
As far as supplies, I live in Maine, so we don't have specialty cosplay stuff either. It's okay, though. For fabric, I get what I need at either Wal-Mart or Jo-Ann's or Michael's or whatevs. They usually don't have what I need, so I get most everything from syfabrics.com. Everything else I use I can either get at the hardware store (I use I heavy duty industrial sized glue gun or whatevs, and you can get that and the big sticks it takes at the hardware store; and then stuff like duct tape, screws, steel cable, etc), or the craft store, for craft foam sheets. Now and again I need other stuff, but that's not too hard to find. Like black gloves, I got those at the sport's supply store, or coroplast, there's a place in town that makes signs, so I picked up a sheet there.
Worst comes to worst, though, you can get most everything you need online.
