Welcome to TCos, the internet's most comprehensive resource for everything about robot cosplay. We are a dedicated community focused on building the best costumes ever to grace the fandom. We dig helping, we dig learning, but most of all, we dig giant robots!

TCos Wants to Move!

Want to help TCos get its own forum, complete with image galleries, wiki, articles, info databases, and more? Then we need your help!

So the $100 goal has so far been met-- but I'll be leaving the donation link up until the move because as far as hosting goes, you really can't have enough funds saved up for that sort of thing. Thanks to everyone who contributes!

Currently just built the shape of my chest and waist piece to my costume.

The body is cut into two pieces which slide together and held in place with velcro strips, and the waist piece will be help up using straps, just gotta buy some.
Right now the it's only cost like, £2. Cost covers parcel tape and velcro strips. Bargin.

Will post pictures soon, just gotta get a photo hosting account going somewhere. blink.gif

Would also like to add that after I get the structure/shape down on my costume, I will be under going a mass amount of paper mache-ing-a-thon to not only give it a smoother texture and get trid of the gaps inbetween the boxes and corners, but also so it'll be easier to paint afterwards and keep a consistant texture so the cardboard doesn't absorb the paint.

I use tinypic.com for photos.
It has a small link (hence tiny) so it won't clutter up the log, and you don't need an account.
Relatively fast too.

I'm doing a G1 Soundwave too, with foamcore and foamies.
Good luck!
I found his faceplate a blast to make.

Thanks Zonadow! Will give it a shot! Good luke on yours too! biggrin.gif Yeah I'm looking forward to making the face plate, it will kinda bring the whole costume together tongue.gif

I know right! I haven't done paper mâché in literally years, since I was a kid. Quite looking forward to making a mess out of it, i'm pretty sure I'll get good results out of it!

As you can see, the body is of two parts which slide together, locking in place using velcro strips.

Which look like this!

And also a sweet belt with added buttons!

It's a nice snug fit right now, but will attach straps to act as braces to hold 'em up!

At this point now I'm working on the feet and leg part!

Oooh!
Great chest rig =3 I would've never thought of that.
I still have to find out a way to make a chest I can put on with little difficulty.
Men can just slip the chests on usually. Us women have certain things blocking that from happening easily XD;

Long time no post! Been veeeeeeery busy! And yes, I'm almost done, so I have a lot to post!

First I add detail to the chest piece, such as the tape deck rim...

and the Decepticon logo.

user posted image

The arm piece were next, cut from squared boxes with a cereal box to give it's correct shape.

user posted image

Next up, the boots! They were cut from a box of the same shape to keep the arm and legs in proportion with each other (i.e longer and blocky).

user posted image

Then the knee guard. The inside is hollow so I can flex my leg, but it still grabs to my leg.

user posted image

I bought some cheap slip on shoes and fashioned a foot piece with I stuck on with hot glue.

Holds nicely!

Shin pads were made out of 3 pieces of card and some elastic and strapped to the leg.
I also bought some gloves and glove pads for £3 in my sport shop which make Soundwaves hands and I sown then together.

The head took a while, and I didn't upload shots while in the making, but I can say it turned out okay. I made the face mask and head rest out of a cereal box to easily make the right shape. The sides were also make out of a cereal box which I folded to make a right angle shape. then add the detail after.

The visor is make from acrylic paper which I got at hobby craft, but it was too see through, so I got a piece of netting used for net curtains from the fabric shop.

Now the paper mache!

user posted image

I finished that off yesterday any I've just finished giving the whole costume it's first layer of white spray paint!

user posted image

Now all I need is a hand held talkbox to fit in the helmet and it'll be perfect!!
