Lockdown - Animated, Something to work on while doing Chemo!

I'll be restarting work on him in a couple days. I'm looking forward to seeing his legs done.

Looking good do far. Just a suggestion. Use super glue instead of Hot glue. it will weld the pieces together and keep the lumps out.

Michael's also has a 1/4" thick material in White and Black but it's only 9" x 12"

I'll give a shot at super glue, but I think hot glue's working not so bad so far. I'll check it out though.

Leg still giving me issues as to what kind of detail is supposed to officially (by Hasbro art standards) happen on the outside of his left leg.

Think I found a good design, but it's still not official since Mr. Frankenstein's body liked to change frequently during his two appearances during Animated.

I'm done for tonight, but I know I will update more tomorrow. I just don't wanna break out fabric right now and make the disaster.

Like! The legs are lookin' good! :3 And I can't wait to see the coattails I didn't know about before looking at Lockdown with you. Are they attached/one piece with the torso or what?

I think I'm going to make the coattails and hip-tires as one separate piece from the torso and back, while leaving my body to act as Lockdown's skinny waist, abdomen and lower back. It'll make it easier for me to move around too, when it all comes down to it.

The legs turned out great. Did you try the super glue meathod? Just curious to see what you think.

Nah, I haven't yet tried that. I need to go out to buy some super glue first.

I'll probably give that a shot on the chestplate when I bulk out that armor.

Well, almost. Just need that last little red pieces for Lockdown's lights on the front of his feet.

This will likely go on for a while with the cardstock mockups as I want most if not all of the torso, shoulders, lower neck, and back to be hooked together into one piece.

I agree the head and neck look a tad big though.

Lol I mean the dark green stripe that runs across his chest. It's marked of by the red lines .... I'll take a better representation later lol. XD

Don't do superglue. It weakens the foam around the glue or something, one of my friends who made armor with craftfoam and super glue had no end of problems. The hot glue also functions to add a strengthing bone type business.

And I think I already mentioned trying to pull the fabric more taught to keep it from creasing as much.

But yeah, looking good! Arcee and Lockdown are going to be pimpin' it!

Hm-! I'm glad I haven't tried superglue yet then. What's that stuff that Pilot uses? I think it's some sticky spray glue or sommat? Might actually help me during these next steps ....

Super 99 I think? She mentioned it in toolbox post I think and if not her then 13oo13oo did. I tried a similar spray glue but was kind of meh. Then again it was with sheet plastic and volara (boo, hiss!). You could test it out?

EDIT: It was Pilot and it was Super 77 not Super 99. And Imma redo my toolbox post since that's old. And I have new things. :3 And I want a picture. And a pony.

It's really, really strange that I have these intermittent bursts of absolute excitement to be working on my rigs, followed by a lull of "Oh god, I don't want to do this."

Usually the discouraged part in me comes out when I'm frustrated by something or can't figure out how something is going to work. After I pass that by, construction becomes a joy again.

Right now, I am SUPER FRAGGING EXCITED to be working on Lockdown.

I had a pocket there of disgust just before the backplate was wrapped. I'm super-glad that's over with.

Whoa, seriously Mirai, you keep impressing me so much!! I love watching how your work gets better and better! Can't wait to see the finished product.

One of the things you could use instead of fabric is Automobile vinyl. It's about 6 a yard and a sign supply place and will lay down much nicer. you will have to spray down the craft foam with Modge Podge first though.

Your costume is coming along quite nicely though. Keep it up!
