Well some sad news today Chipper Jones is going to retire at the end of this season. He is one of a few in an era full of cheaters and liars that did it the right way. Even when his body was falling apart on him for the last 7-8 years he still didnt abuse like the other classless fools in the game today.

First ballot HOF no doubt and the 2nd best switch hitter of all time. Im gonna miss Chipper he is my favorite player/athlete in all of sports, and is the best number one pick in the history of baseball in terms of what he did for one franchise.

No love for Larry Walker? lol

Chipper was a good 3rd baseman. Solid player throughout his entire career. Hard to believe he's been in the league for 23 years.

Go Griffey Jr.!

Walker was a great 5 tool player but he will never get into the hall.

Like usual era you underestimate how good people really are, Solid? please...He stands as just one of eight players in the history of the game who have hit at least .300 with a .400 on-base percentage, .500 slugging percentage, 450 home runs and 2,500 hits. The others are Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Stan Musial, Mel Ott, Jimmie Foxx and Manny Ramirez.

Well, I was a fan of the Braves too, and I was always disappointed that the Braves never really brought in more offensive threats. For a while, they had a very good offensive team (until some of them got egos) in Javy Lopez, Andruw Jones, Andres Galaragga, Brian Jordan, Gary Sheffield, Vinny Castilla, and even Bobby Bonilla & Michael Tucker lol.

But after a while the front office just stopped. They spent all the money they had on guys like Mike Hampton. So when they needed Chipper Jones the most, he kept getting injured. He'd miss 30 games here, 40 games there.

It was just like a culture of injured stars, and Chipper was one of them. It was just really frustrating.

Was he a good player? Absolutely. But think about it - out of all the seasons Chipper Jones played, how many of them was he actually the leader in any statistical category? Not as many as you'd think when you mention players like Lou Gehrig, Tedd Williams, Babe Ruth et al.

Now he was probably the most all-around player on the Braves, but even some seasons guys like Andres Galarraga, Gary Sheffield, Javy Lopez and Andruw Jones had better all-around seasons than Chipper did.

So yeah, I guess I am undercutting him. But for as good as he was, there were still better players than him on his own team until the Braves stopped spending money on good players. Over the course of 20 some years, I'll give him credit as there aren't many players that can do what he did. But I think that was probably (in part) made possible by him missing 40 games a season.

I'm just going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say you are just arguing just to argue. Because this post makes you look fucking clueless.
