Appearance: Emalya is your average girl, her only distinguishing feature from the other dark haired girls you see around her deep gray/blue eyes, which she inherited from her mother. She is a bit on the short side, but is surprisingly strong for her size. Her skin is oddly smooth, considering that she is a hard worker. She usually wears simple, serviceable clothing that doesn't reveal her actually kind of shapely figure. She walks with her head down and doesn't meet anyone's gaze.
Personality: She is a fiery sort of girl who will snap readily at you. After these fits she can be quite withdrawn. Her odd eyes hold years of torment from her father, who often hit her in drunken rages. She is rather pessimistic and stubborn, and it is hard to persuade her to look at the bright side of things (or to even persuade Em to do anything at all!) She is in a good mood (for the pessimist she is) when her eyes are not snapping dangerously or clouded over. When those eyes snap or cloud over, watch out Pern.

Biography: Her mother died when she was young, and she was raised by a kind foster mother who died early, though she tried to stay away from her father as much as possible. His abuse may have led to Em's psychological problems (ie, depression) She has one younger sister. Her mother died giving birth to Lyassa when Em was 3, so Em never really knew her mother. Her father loved her mother deeply, and already being prone to drunkenness, became an alcoholic. This was not helped by the death of his mother. Any important events? Well, she was accepted as a kitchen hand and can prepare a mean stew.
