((Y'know guys DX you DONT have to do the quote thinger at the top of every post x.o))

Unhappy with another baby gone, the mother flitter gave a creel of distress, Azael moving forward to run a soft hand over her back to comfort her. He was literally the only one that would allow to touch her, especally now, and to him she gave another chatter, putting the image of her babies leaving her to him, accompanied by a distressed tone. But he quickly soothed her, telling her that if any of her babies came to any problems, he'd personally take care of it.

But even her wills were to be broken, as from beneath her body, a soft peeping was heard, loud enough for even the whers to be able to hear it. With it, Dutchess rolled the egg out from under her with the point of her snout, sending the little sloth egg down the sand pile she'd taken as her own, and accidentally it rolled a bit to far. Her small wail echoed as the egg encoutered a rock, and split it open, fearing the worst the mother flitt gave a disparing sound.

But when the egg split, all was proven to be fine, the flitt that peered up from it blinked slowly, as if it had just been awoken. Rushing over, Dutchess checked the baby, gently prodding it with her nose, and showing an unusual amount of care for the little one. The hatchling itself was fine, the shell of the egg having taken the hit, and satisfied that her baby was okay, Dutchess gave its small black head one last lick before lurking back to the rest of her eggs. Leaving a blinking, confused looking hatchling behind. The hatchling himself was like all, black, but his markings were reminicent of the nights sky, with star shaped markings along his form. Most noticably one over his eye, along his shoulders, back, hips, tail, and the leading edges of his wings.

The little flitt looked around, as if to try and clear its confused mind, and with a stretch, it got to its feet. Lazilly it padded about, almost as if it couldnt make up its mind, it soon toddled its way over to a blue wher, Jaysk, and peered up at him, sending a few baffled quips to him. Lazilly he waited, then as he receved an answer, went to the one bonded to the wher, and chirped at him.

Shatrana

The weaver watched with growing fury as two flitters broke the shell and Impressed to people who were obviously not her. Didn't they have any kind of good taste? Though that green one seemed rather boring... The red one would have been a wonderful companion. Bite the nose off anyone she was displeased with. And that flinching little girl got her.

Envy. Yes, that was what she was feeling. It was a wonder her gorgeous light blue dress patterened with sparkling stars of black wasn't turning green with it, or her lovely light-brown skin.

Her slanted eyes narrowed as she veiwed the other people waiting. More than there were eggs. Well. She would have to fix that. And she would have, if a breakin egg hadn't caught her attention.

Melathe

Melathe stared at the clutch. Her muddy brown eyes darted about, counting the "candidates", and the number of eggs. Too many. She hissed through clenched teeth as the bloodred raver Impressed some squealing, shrinking little girl. How dare it! Imagine the trouble she could cause with such a beast! He would grow into a fine, strong one, he would. And never be able to utilize his talents with that cute little girl... THough she was pretty, Melathe had to admit. Her hair, her face... Gave her an almost dangerous look.

Hmm. She wondered if that one would be willing to have a little... Relationship. She fingered the heart pendant on the middle of her forehead.

Well, maybe it wasn't too much of a loss that that girl had gotten that raver. There were still two more eggs. And one of them looked like it was about to hatch.

“Gwaah!” Kiden called in surprised, nearly rolling off his bed in the process but managing to catch himself before it happened. It was the call about flitts that startled him, it being much louder than one would’ve thought someone calling from the hatching grounds would be. The dark haired male sighed in relief as he sat up at the edge of his bed, glad he didn’t fall onto the stone floor. Kidsk's hear that? Kidsk asked, rising from his sleeping place happily. The pair had been napping, only to have it disturbed by someone’s rather loud call through the caverns. “Of course I heard it, how could I not?” Kiden replied, but didn’t seem perturbed about it, a usual smile, even if it was slight now, was on his gently tanned features.

Flitts. Should go look. The bronze wher seemed quite keen to the idea of going to the firelizard hatching that was now taking place. He rose from his place and padded over to Kiden, nudging him. Up, up! We go flitt hatching! Kiden couldn’t help but chuckle as the bronze wher practically pushed him off the bed. He seemed very eager to go see, and it seemed like a good idea. Perhaps they would get lucky and Kiden would receive one of the flitts. He did like the little creatures after all, and heard they could be quite useful if trained properly.

“Ok. We’re going. Just let me get my boots.” It didn’t take much for the wherhandler to give into his wher’s demands, especially this time considering that it had to do with firelizards. Quickly Kiden shoved his feet into his boots and informing the wher that they could go, walked out of the room and down the caverns. Kidsk was obviously close behind, his feet thrumming rhythmically on the stone floor behind his handler. It didn’t take them long to arrive at their destination, since they already knew where the hatching sands were. Walking in he grabbed some meat that was present. By the sounds of it some of the eggs had already hatched, but that was no problem. Even if Kiden didn’t receive a flitt this time, there would always be other firelizard hatchings in the future he could attend.

And with a loud keen of loss, it was over. Duchess poked hopefully at the remaining eggs, her heart wrenching keens of loss ringing throughout the Hatching Sands. She turned suddenly on the watching crowd, hissing and snarling with all the rage of a Midnight, screaming and darting towards the people's ankles in an attempt to chase them from her Sands. Seeing them mill in confusion, the green raced back to her now dead eggs, sadly chirping and nosing them before finally seeming to let it go. With a depressed flap of her tiny wings, she fluttered to her Chosen's shoulders. Before the man could do anything, Kaselia slipped into the entrance and said softly, 'Come now, the hatching is over. Let us leave them in peace. I'll have Kasesk take them between when night has fallen.' Crooking a finger in a gesture for them to follow her out the door, she slipped from the cavern, the soft swish of her gauzy skirts leaving only a passing memory of her presence.

Congratulations to those who impressed and better luck next time to those who didn't! I figured we should just finish this, as the former leader of the topic didn't keep records on which eggs had hatched and which hadn't. The next flitter hatching will be much more prompt and organized and I apologize for the delay.
