It was just four o'clock in the evening and the heat from the day was finally starting to wear off. Today had been another scorching day but he knew that the worst was yet to come when it came to the heat. July was probably the worst month out of the year, but he June heat ranked right up there. There was a light wind now that was blowing the tall grass. The irritated snort reminded him that he wasn't the only one out here. This place was only could only be accessed by one trail and it was far out into the countryside. So there was no way he was going to walk out here. "I know Storm, you're probably getting bored with just hanging around here." He said to the horse and patted the stallion's dark bay neck. The big horse was the first horse that he had ever bought and he had owned him for three years now. The two were a pretty decent team and they had a very good record when it came to eventing. But since he was working at the riding camp the two wouldn't do much competing this year. That was what had started the fire again with his father. His father thought that he should be going around competing as much as he possibly could during the summer. The two did not see eye to eye on the whole working at the riding camp thing, even though his father's farm sponsored people there. Brian actually hoped that none of the people that his father's farm sponsored would end up in the cabin that he was in charge of. Otherwise things might seem rather awkward and that was something that he did not want at all. Brian then sent Storm off at a steady canter, they were just out here to get a little alone time. That was something that a person could not get at the camp, no matter where they went. It did annoy him but luckily there were places such as this where a person could go if they wanted to be alone for awhile.

His brown eyes scanned the area as listened to the steady beat of Storm's hooves on the ground. There were a few birds in the trees but other than that it appeared as if they were the only things out here. Sure he had heard all about the mustangs coming into this area at times. But he really didn't believe it. Even though this place was way out there it was still a little too close to human civilization. At least, that was what he figured. Besides, he knew that there was a place that was rather similar to this further out. On a few occasions he had seen a group of mustangs lingering out in the distance of his father's farm. But that had been out in the back pastures and he figured that they must have just seen the other horses are something. He could never be sure though but he thought of the mustangs as smart creatures, they had to be to survive out here. Often times people would ask if any of their horses had escaped and ran off to join a herd of mustangs. Only once could Brian remember that happening, and it happened two years ago. Sierra had been a beautiful, well balanced warmblood mare with excellent confirmation. One day his father had went to bring the horses in for the night and she hadn't been there. This had sparked a long search for her and after days of searching she was found, running with a small herd of mustangs up in the hills. An attempt had been made to capture the mare but nobody had succeeded. That had been the last time that anybody had seen the chestnut mare. She would be really easy to pick out among a herd since she had been a big mare, standing around sixteen point three hands or so. His father had simply written her off as a loss, she had been carrying a foal that everybody had high hopes for.

After spotting a log the temptation to jump it was too great. He then turned the horse toward it and in a few strides the two were soaring over the log. They then landed and he then circled the horse for a moment before turning him back toward the log. They easily cleared it again before Brian slowed the horse down and patted his neck. "We'll show the people that I teach just what a team working together looks like when it comes to competing at higher levels." He said before grinning and playing with a strand of the horse's black mane. Riding just seemed to come naturally to him now, then again he had been riding since he was three years old. That was only because his father trained horses and was rather well known because of it. Their farm was one of the larger ones out here and his father bred and sold horses constantly. A few of them were being leased out to the riding camp right now though.

He checked his watch, if he stayed out here too long people might start to wonder where he was. Of course he wasn't scheduled to give anybody lessons and he had to be back around five thirty or so. Everybody had to be back by that time for supper, then after that they could go back to doing..whatever again. He was considering going back to the farm just for the heck of it. There was a foal there that he had taken a liking to and he also wanted to check on his other horse. Well, it wasn't really his horse it just was the one that he used when he needed to round up the few cattle that his father kept. Cisco was a mustang that his father had bought at an auction and then broke in. Now the horse was a simple ranch horse. "I'm surprised none of the new campers are out here to see if they can see any mustangs. I'm sure somebody has told them all about how you can supposedly see them out here." He said before looking around just to make sure he wasn't saying that when somebody was approaching him.
