"Let Our Hearts Not Be Forgotten"
OOC;://Alright decided to post my own thread for once. Have fun, anyone can join.//
IC;;
Sphynx curled himself up in a tight ball, his eyes held tightly closed as he tried to sleep. But it was inevitable. With Takashi gunning for him, ready to challenge at any moment, it was quite hard to sleep. Not even the sound of a storm could put his mind at ease. With a soft sigh of dis-contempt, the wolf stretched himself out, sprawling upon the ground much like how a small dog will take up most of a twin sized bed. A soft cooing screech of a disturbed bird nestled beside him, caused one blue eye to flick open and a small smile to cross his face. But it quickly disappeared when that bird suddenly shot up, eyes wide open. expression on full alert. "What is it Mae?" he questioned in an exhausted voice. The bird did not answer. Strange? Normally she was a sharp tongue in replying. She lifted her wings, and shot up into the trees, disappearing behind their vast, patchy crowns.
Rolling to his stomach, the butterfly speckled wolf gazed upward, waiting for a reply in his words. Curious to the nature of Mae's sudden dispersal. "Mae? Is it an attack?" he questioned. Again not response. Perhaps the bird was to far for his voice to reach her. So he repeated it through mind speak. Still no reply. Blue eyes gazed at the blackened sky, his body telling him that it was around high noon. But the storm that had rolled in, made it appear like an inkblot. Black, but with flashes of white now and then. A heavy crack sounded far off to his left. Mae should not be out flying in this weather, she could get hit, that he knew. A black shape descended from above, wings outstretched. Mae was back.
She landed upon his shoulder, eyes alert. "What is it?" he asked just as she cut in.
~'Fire! Get your ass moving! I do not know if it was the lightening, or an attack by Dark Coven. But move!'~ she screeched in his head. Move, well now that he did. The ground raced beneath him, an inky surface slick with rain. Mae sprang from his shoulder at the first step he had taken. Now she dodged trees and kept pace with an agile ease only an animal could take. His two legged form would have been destroyed. that he knew. His heart raced in his throat. The border of Night's Fire finally causing him to stop and take a break. How his lungs burned, his throat dry...
"Rashella! The PACK!" his thoughts had caught up to him, his voice hoarse as he swung himself around. What would he be if he was Beta... and had abandoned the pack to the ravaging flames they did not know about?!? Lunging back into the already burned trees, he barely heard Mae's screech of protest before it was gone. Muscles sore from to many days of no sleep, screamed in anger at the abuse. But even so, he moved onward. Smoke suddenly clouded his lungs and he hacked from its foul taste. Heading away from it, he raced against time to make it to the heart of Night's Fire... Where all would be sleeping. Paws thudded heavily, his energy draining fast. When... He broke into the clearing. Slowing down, his eyes lingered upon the heart of Night's Fire. An ever burning blue, black, and white flame. Caused by history he did not yet know. Letting his eyes tear away, he brought his mind upon the matter at hand. The pack.
Before he launched into the dens, he released a loud howl of warning, his lungs expanding, burning, begging him to stop. but he did not. Sure his howl cut out, but he was already leaping into the depths of the cave, barking shoving from his throat. "Get out.... Get out... FIRE!" he bayed like a banshee. Rashella, he did not see her... Was she outside of the lands?!? He was supposed to know this stuff! not only was he Beta, but she was his mate! snarling in his own self anger, he bayed out in his hoarse voice once more.

He didn't know what brought him to Flint Forest, but something dragged him by the reins, away from his magnificent angel, that too had drifted sadly away from him. But his heart was singing songs of joy, for he was hers. His wings fluttered with a knowing happiness that radiated from him.
But the joy was quickly engulfed by dread, as the smell of burning touched his sensitive nose and his large ears heard the distant cracking of wet wood. His first thought was Lunera. He prayed to the gods that she was safe from harm, cozy in their den or somewhere on the ice. His attention turned to his own safety though, as he felt the warmth of the flames come closer.
He dashed for the place he thought would protect him, through the smoking trees, when he heard a voice. It was frightened and warning something to get out. Nikita moved towards the voice, his eyes darting about him. He approached a butterfly marked wolf, yellow in fur and a lot larger than he, but that wasn't that difficult to do.
"These lands are made of fire," he shuddered, as he remembered Rayden's words. Nikita looked away for a moment, to watch the flames come closer. "Have to get out..." and find Lunera, but he didn't finish the sentence, as a tree fell to the ground a little too close for comfort. Jumping away in surprise, silver eyes' moved once more to the other, "Come on," he gasped, holding his breath, protecting his lungs from the ashes, before darting away, his fear of flying in this weather getting the better of him. He was clumsy on land, and jumping over fallen wood was not making getting out easier.

The freezing weather had ceased, but the strange new star still shone out of the sky. It was brighter now, the butterfly-winged wolf had noticed. In fact, she had paused on many of a patrol to stare up at it. What it meant she knew not. In the legends, bright stars were often an omen portending many different outcomes. She could only hope that this would not lead to another bout of blizzards. Early winter would only make it harder to get prey.
On this day she had simply wanted to rest. Her side and wings had finally begun to heal but still were a nuisance. She had found that the den offered shelter from the storm that threatened to happen outside, but still she was restless. Thunder was unoccupied by the calming pelt of the rain. That was not a good sign this late in fall. There were obviously lightning strikes; her newest power gave her a mild ability to sense it.
It was in one of her pacings that she realized she heard a voice echoing into the cave. Curious if it was indeed who it sounded like, she made her way to the mouth of the cavern. The realization of her mate's voice brought only a temporary joy. The obvious terror in his voice clenched at her mind. Fire in the packlands? This land had only just begun to recover, from what Saphiice said. Finally she could see him in the dimming light from the outside. She brushed up against the male in an attempt to calm them both. This done, she let out her own cry of warning, to spare the other's voice if he would accept it.

"Let Our Hearts Not Be Forgotten"
OOC;://SQUEEEE!!! I is excited... but darn it, my writing skills went out the window when I got done fighting my mom. Verbally of course.//
IC;; He was frazzled, his nerves in a tight knot as the young boy came along. The voice warned him, but he was not willing to listen. "I am Beta of these lands...If I leave and they perish... It will be my fault!" he snapped at the boy, his paws in a frantic pace. Then... Oh his love, she breached the entrance of the cavern, her gentle joy he loved so much, splitting to terror. Her vocals worked better than his own, for his were clogged with smoke and soot, how melodious it was... But he could not stop now, even with his love coming ever so close to him.
"M'love... is anyone else in the den? I must know... My mother, she told me of this... I should have listened." Again, he was frazzled, his nerves were a ball of well... fire. Oh he could not wait for an answer, not with the flames ever burning behind him. It was HIS responsibility! Ducking into the den, he raced back and poked his nose into every nook and cranny it would fit into. When he found no one, he darted out and finally, really, looked at the boy. "I am.. sorry for yelling... Lets get out of here, fast. The pack would have gotten the warning song by now, they must have." but why hadn't he heard any howls? Where they out on a mission? Saphiice wasn't one to let her beta know what was going on, not when she hated him anyhow.
Nuzzling Rashella, he looked to the way he came in. Blocked by fire it was... But his mind had already ordered a plan. "We will go straight up. Pup, you have wings, fly as you have never flown before... Rashella, my beautiful butterfly, would it be to much to ask if I asked you to fly me out of here? If so I can run..." he did not doubt Rashella's strength. After all, he had fought her for this position. She probably could have beaten him too. But the border was a fine line he wasn't willing to cross again. As air brushed his lungs, the male found himself doubling over in brain wrenching coughs. But he would make it, he had to. For there was something he had to finish. No matter what the cost was. As he stared around him, he watched as the fire blew closer, one flaming log cracked and almost hit the pup. The poor thing jumped, terrified. "Get along, meet us at the borders. I will assemble a plan once there. Just get to safety." he ordered. Despite his soot filled nose, he knew the pup was not of Night's Fire, in fact he smelled like a cross between Dawn's Omen, Dark Coven, and a Loner.
Despite his "Duties" to destroy or report any Dark Coven members in Night's Fire. He could not destroy a pup any sooner than he could purposely destroy a butterfly. Not without questioning it first of course. Leaning into his love, he took a moment to catch his breath before he nudged the pup.

What a beta was, Nikita was not sure. But it seemed important, and the older wolf was obviously a little too frantic for his own good. But as a butterfly winged wolf arrived, relief seemed to wash over the stranger, and he spoke openly with her of his mother. Nikita wasn't sure what to do, except to wait for the others to think of something, for the boy was unfamiliar with these lands and everything around him just befuddled his mind further.
The yearling glanced around him, fires were terrible beings. But when the beta ordered him to fly, hesitation filled him. He feared flying in lightning, not after the pain he had felt. Though it had been for the better, him not Lunera. So he spread his wings and launched into the sky, hearing faintly the next order to meet them at the border.
With a shaky flight, he was above the trees and when he looked to the skies, it wasn't as bad as he had expected. He saw no lightning strikes, heard no thunder rumble. A small relief filled him as he darted to the side, hoping that the two wolves from Night's Fire would follow close behind. To tell the truth, he had no real faith in adults, not after the snowstorm where Eclipse and Ithil had almost let him freeze to death. It had been only after the efforts of Taiin and the warmth of the others fur and some heated conversation, that they were able to get shelter.
He glanced back, wishing them to him. He didn't want them gone, they would live, he was certain.

Well now, what was this? It seemed that one mistake always seemed to lead to another! A failed attempt at reconnaissance led to the female missing the pack meetings that followed her own induction into the Coven, and then a wonderful hunt-gone-wrong left her in such a –lovely- position indeed!
First came the odd weather from the skies: first a dense, upper air fog that quickly consumed her whilst she was in mid-air, leading the female to wander around almost aimlessly as she tried to find her way back to the Coven’s dens, but to little avail since the mist clouded her nose and almost blinded her! However, the moment she nearly collided face-first into a tree, she could well tell she was –not- in the ideal place…
The scents of another pack’s markings made it seem even –less- like she would be greeted warmly, especially since those markings were those of Night’s Fire. And… ‘lo and behold, just in time for her to have this lovely revelation, she got another wonderful surprise! It began to snow, thus –trapping- her in this forsaken forest, since it only seemed to desire to increase in intensity!
I have to find shelter –fast-! she thought to herself, following her own advice and hole-ing up in an old beaver dam long abandoned by its former inhabitants. It was a bit –too- cozy for her liking, but shelter nonetheless. By morning, she was coated in loose, powdery white snow, which she had to shake off… and what a wonderful surprise for her to wake to –this- time! There was a new star in the sky, and it glowed brighter, almost like a small moon itself!
Paying this little heed, Firejade set about making some kind of makeshift camp here for a short while, as the weather was not suited for flight at the moment, and she had no idea how far into Night’s Fire’s pack land she was. A rabbit or two passed by, becoming swift dinners as the wolf looked at the odd star, passed out, and awoke what seemed like it was all too soon.
Thunder rumbled and roared as the chariots rampaged across the sky, anxious godly horses dashing about in a cacophonous zeal. Then, the female opened her eyes just in time to watch a tiny jewel of white begin trickling across the sky before becoming a gigantic blue-white rip, then, almost like a whip, lash out, strike the top a nearby tree, causing it to split in half, each side burning as it consumed both snow and dead foliage, catching several trees almost instantly as it almost surrounded her makeshift camp. She had no choice now, as the dried twigs that made her “home” would become almost instant fodder for the flames!
The female kicked the ground, lifting off with her wings, still sore from the last night’s working, however she kept working as she lifted herself… further into the land of the enemy, but away from the flame.
She came to hover over perhaps the worst place she possibly could… or perhaps the best, depending on how one viewed it. The flames had almost guided her to the Night’s Fire dens, which would explain why it was such a strain only a day before… that was no small flight –or- misdirection from the heart of the Coven lands!
She took a quick inventory of the situation: fires were beginning to close in around the area, and there were at least –three- wolves present. The little one, a Nightix, had wings and looked as if he had just woken up when he took off. She looked at the little one and offered a shout.
“Little one, do –not- head directly behind us! The fires extend that way as well! Head toward the Jael Mountains!” she shouted before tentatively landing before the small cave where Rashella and Sphinx had made their home. “Is anyone in there? Do you need help?” she shouted, not entering for the moment, even as soot and ash riddled the sky. Howl would likely have her head for this, but –some- things crossed pack lines.

He had flying, almost blindly towards the icy lands that had saved him once before. But a voice told him otherwise, to the mountain it directed. Looking towards the voice, he saw an older female, who seemed just unhappy as he was, and with a gust of smoky wind, he caught Dark Coven scents. He gazed in a bit of awe as she took to the ground and offered help to the other two adults. Enemies! Enemies fought and hurt each other, never before had he seen them try and help each other.
Taking a breath, he followed the stranger's advice and headed for the tall and looming figure that seemed untouched by the monsters that fed on the rest of the land. Glancing back, he kept his calm, wincing every once in a while from the awkward positions that he took to look for the three wolves that were supposed to be following close behind. Where were they? He hovered in place for a moment, looking for them in the blazing light. But he saw no one.
Whining ever so slightly, he carefully perpelled himself once more towards the mountain, flying sideways, his eyes shifting between his destination and his starting point.
Still no one, he urged them on in his mind. As the wind pushed him forward and hit against him, the boy advanced rapidly on the mountain that stood so close and yet was so far away. He waggered his options, as he gazed into the smoking lands that flew out behind him. No sign of anything flying just yet, but there was hope. They were in there, and they would get out.

OoC:Sorry for both the wait and the sucky post.
IC:
Sphynx asked in her ever-caring way if there were any others in the cavern. Before the wolfess could speak, he was off,
running to check. His blatant love for the others was one of the many things she had come to love in the male. Besides this,
the situation before them now simply showed his strength. Not many wolves would have been able to take complete control in such
a time. She was not even sure that she could have handled it as Beta. Such speculations did not matter. Sphynx and the strange pup
were right- They had to get out of there.
He offered a solution. Rashella was uncertain if she had the strength to carry him. Of course, her heart didn't care; she wanted to take care of him,as any loving mate did. It was cold logic that brought the dilemma to mind. The question was dissolved when her love was struck with horrific-sounding coughs.
Her own chest pained her, both from sympathy and the hostile air. There was no way that he needed to run in this. So affected by the lack of air, the effort would be too much.
The only question was how could she do it without risking hurting him or hindering her wings?
Her musings were rudely interrupted by the appearance of an unfamiliar female. Despite never having met this one before, Rashella instantly knew the hated scent. Her lips drew back
in an automatic snarl before she remembered the situation. Of course, what the alphess had said remained in her mind. However, this was not the situation to get into a fight
Stopping to attack would only insure that the three would just be burned up. Still, she wasn't sure that she wanted to trust this girl. For all she knew, if she asked for help,
this one would just betray them both. Stifling her own impulse to cough, she replied, distinct cold formality in her tone, "No, I think we can handle it." She glanced over to her mate's
face, looking for his response. She wasn't one who believed in her inferiority to the male, but she could sure use guidance.

Ooc; Hola. Just posting crappily. Ic;
Jerking awake, Rayden blinked once, twice, three times. What was that that awoke him? But then he smelled it. Fire. Turning around, he then noticed the actual fire, beginning to rise up behind him. Oh, shit. Jumping up, Rayden ran a bit forward until a huge wooosh passed by above him. Looking up, a familiar silvery black figure flew by. Nikita! He called, but then he realised the fire once more. Keep flying! Head for high ground!
Feeling the forest fire's heat he turned and pushed it back mentally, huffing a bit. How dare that fire! But when a voice was heard to the right, he quickly padded toward the voices, pushing fire as hard a s he coul from around him. The others - they should get out! It was a fire! He might be able to last for while... but the others, nada.
Rashella! Suddenly, it occured to him why she hadn't run for the hills yet. Seeing th other male - now beta - he looked Sphnyx straight in the eye. That's why. There was another female, too... Coven? But when suddenly the fire roared up from behind him, sending a burrning tree down behind him, it no longer mattered. RUN! He roared, still trying to focus his power on keeping the fire out. FOLLOW ME! I CAN PROTECT YOU! He yelled over the fire before nipping at Rashella's heels and scampering off in the direction of the Mounts of Jael.

OOC;://Sorry Dolls, I was waiting. I thought Rashe would pm me when she was back. O.o aight I will postie here.// //Also, crappy cuz I am in school, no time to make it pawesome... (5min) Rayden, I say that you can just say you guided him through the forest in your post. So we don't have 3-4 alternating posts explaining every step. XD//
IC;;
Sphynx's blue eyes swiveled as another form dropped to the ground. Underlying the strong stench of soot and smoke, was the scent of Dark Coven. His orders were clear, straight from Saphiice... he could not disobey her could he? Rashella responded viciously, Sphynx nuzzled her softly but before he could speak, Rayden rushed into the clearing, his words frantic. "Fly love, fly towards the Jael and keep the little pup safe. Now is not the time to fight over a petty war... I will follow Rayden... Keep an eye out for Thoron will you?" his voice was raspy, coated in thick black slime. But he would get out, he had faith in Rayden, even if he did not know him.
Turning his gaze to the Coven wolf, he adressed her next. "Fly away as well, follow Rashella. Keep her safe, in times of need, we must trust each other. Now, fly quick, before the canopy encloses in fl..." Raspy words cut off by an even more disasterous cough. It sounded as if he had barked his own lungs out. Shaking his crown, he turned his gaze towards Rayden... and dashed towards the woods. No chance for final words of love to Rashella, no chance of anything... He had spent his time, and now, he must run! Paws clattered across the ground, swiftly meeting up with the young boy.
"If we move fast, you may be able to hold out just long enough. The others will fly, lets go." more quick words, before golden paws were flashing by golden flames.

Her body rocked as her feet shuffled about and Howl's head rose curiously to watch as the female took a place on the sand. He wondered then if some plague had overcome her, whether he should leave before he too was infected. But Howl, indeed, was still a very young wolf... and, in a very loose sense of the word, naive.
