There was no hiding the change in the land. From forest, it came now to more of a dry land. To his north, there was the eerie coldness of a winter land, and to his south... he wasn't sure. There was a meadow, but by the look of it there wasn't anything too exciting. Plus it was extra mileage for him and his tender paws, which now were just too dark from the extra wear. The brilliant shade of them was hidden under dirt from his travel, though his nose was still a fine specimen if there ever was any. But not like it was something he could control - he was born a creature of questioning glances.

Sighing, he squinted across the horizon and sighed. He'd been alone for at least three days now, and the group had disbanded a day before he'd split with his brother. There wasn't anything too great to look forward to if he was to turn back now, except perhaps an ass kicking. With a smirk, he looked up and allowed himself to mold from one form to another. Paws rose and became sturdy hands, and his legs lengthened. With a practiced pace, he rose and had no need to require further balance. Shifting - for him - had already become something he could control. His brilliant eyes closed, opening as a darker shade. Today, he wore just a white tank and some shaggy jeans. Boots fitted his feet; he kicked at the earth with his toes a bit as he walked along.

Arms raising, he placed them behind his head and stretched his sore back. The travel hadn't been too kind, the weather seemed to change on a daily basis. Now, when it should have been chilly, it was a mild warm. The sky was clear, and there was no real hint of anything threatening his path of choice. There was also no scent of another being, which was alright in a way. Though he would have loved the company, it was always a hazard when you didn't know anyone. Thus, lowering his arms and sticking them into his pockets, he lowered his eyes to the earth and whistled himself a song as he continued his lazy walk.

Ugh, this sucks. Sorry.

Water; that was all she craved. Simple, sweet, succulent, fresh water. But such a thing was clearly out of her reach, as it had been for the past few days. The young female’s travelling had brought her nothing but aching, so far. And not just a tiny ache that disappeared after a little break; complete, full body ache - the thing that took ages to get rid of. Muscular cramps and constant headaches had drawn the weary little traveller to a constant stop several times, making her journey last longer than it should have done. It already took time, because she was not alone. Taillefer Fyodorova was joined by a Guide. Her guide: Fairfax. In most creature’s terms, their partnership would have been considered rather new, but to the little wolf and cat, it felt like they’d been together for years. As it should have been with a guide, most likely.

Really, she didn’t know. She’d never been taught such things.

Her mother had not been around for long enough, and due to her breeding, her old pack hadn’t cared to teach her anything. Her siblings had tried their best, but even they didn’t know too much. After all, they weren’t much older than herself, and their mother had been much too ill to do anything about teaching any of her children. So, little Taillefer was hungry for information about the world around her and everything in it. One thing she did seem to understand, however, was boys. Understanding a male was something that you learnt, rather than got taught. She had the boys down to a tea.

Dry mouth and almost exhausted, the female had halted in her travels, though not in the greatest of places. A parched land with dusty ground was where she found herself, with little shadows and no water. Her natural form did nothing for her in the freak weather, so she had taken to Asterni form. Fairfax was not lucky enough to have gained such a form, however. Another thing Taillefer did not understand. Eyes half closed, she lay with her back to the ground and knees in the air, hiding Fairfax in the shadow her limbs made.

His tune continued with an air of ease, boots kicking sometimes at a rock or clumps of vegetation as he passed. His dark eyes would peer upwards sometimes, dark lashes almost tickling his brows when he did so. To a surprise, he found that he'd stopped whistling and was now walking with a quiet and almost cocky demeanor. With a lanky type of walk, he'd partially twist one way and look, then the other. Then he'd be straight for awhile. Truth was, he was bored. There wasn't anything but him and his own tricks didn't keep him too amused.

So when his eyes caught the sight of a lady laying down, he couldn't help but let cheery smile arch across his somewhat chapped lips. He also couldn't help but notice she seems miffed by something. So rather than walk up and offer her a kind kick in the side, he sent the smell of lilacs. At first... he wondered why the fuck lilacs would be worth anything for anyone if he sent them as a teaser. But they were calming flowers, something everyone was rather accustomed to lying in the shade next to and sleeping as robins chirped and hopped around in the taller trees. By any luck, she was asleep anyway. Least this was kinder than him getting near and offered a swift kick to the teeth.

I've only just noticed, you changed the title! lol.

One arm lay folded beneath her head, raising it off the ground to ensure as little reddish brown dirt got into it as possible. Though, with her arm being unprotected by cloth or fur, it left her with a faint itch that she honestly did not want to scratch. After all, she was quite comfortable in her present position. Sun beating down upon her, not threats to speak of, or rain or hail. Then again, at present, rain would have been welcome. Taillefer could just imagine it; drop after drop of pure, freezing rain, beating down upon her in a constant shower. Strangely, she shivered at the mere thought of it. Pink tongue stretched out to lick at her dry lips, wetting them for a few minutes, before the sun dried them out once more.

Her other arm lay flat across her stomach, covering the unzipped section of her leather top and revealing the dark (and utterly unhelpful in this weather) tank top beneath. It gave little relief, really. There was no breeze to speak of to wash over her heated body, just boiling air and…flowers. Lilacs, to be exact. That, she knew. Her sense of smell was no so finely tuned in this form, but Taillefer knew the smell of lilacs like a fish knew water. They’d surrounded her den whilst she’d been young. But surely, that smell hadn’t been there moments before. Eyes still closed, the little female sniffed a few times.

“Can you smell flowers?” She spoke to the cat through thought, too lazy to speak allowed at present.
“Nope…Wait…Yup.”
“Were there flowers here before?”
“Nope. Just dust and a bush.”

Curiously, Taillefer opened her eyes. She looked one way, and could not see the flowers causing the scent, then the other and nothing. Except a boy. He startled her, which was obvious as her body gave a shocked jump, but she hastily settled. In her mind, her obviously meant no harm, or else he’d have caused it already, whilst her eyes were closed. Was the smell him? She had no clue about the illusion power; it was just another thing she had to learn about. She brought the hand resting across her stomach to shield her open eyes, giving the newcomer a once over.

“Hey, handsome, you scared the heck outta me.” her words came with an embarrassed laugh.

ooc: e,e brain fart.

He watched with a careful interest. Not trying to stare in rudeness but rather assess with the time he was given. He was curious as to why someone was to travel with a feline and not eat it by now, though he knew some creatures were able to become bonded to another creature. To him, cats weren't really a delicacy, but during the little raiding parties... cat chases ad happened. A few bloodied noses and scratched hands were what they received, not quite worth the time in his opinion. Thinking about this, his gaze dropped slightly to the ground, his mind distancing till he noticed her move. Looking up, he blinked and moved a hand behind his head to scratch it momentarily. He had no idea what he was to say; so when she spoke first it was an opening he welcomed warmly.

The skin around his eyes wrinkled a bit, his eyes sparkling as a little coy smirk swept over his face. He lowered his one arm, the other still in the pocket. "I don't mean ta bring fear. I'm not much to be scared of." He stepped closer, looking from her face and eyes to the feline close to her. He was white, with an interesting splash of colour over his tail and ears. But it was when he looked to her lips from the feline, that he frowned a bit. "It's not hot enough to be thirsty love."

....

She easily matched the grin, taking a moment to look him over (whilst hiding her eyes, of course). It was something simply typical of her. Often, when first meeting another creature, you could only really judge on appearance. Taillefer commonly got things wrong, so she tried her best to be careful and not say something stupid to a newcomer. After all, you couldn’t really judge a personality on an look. You couldn’t say if something would insult a wolf and make them attack, or if they would simply let a comment or two ride over the top of them. Everyone was so different, and as her sisters had said “Don’t judge the book by the cover, the content is always better.” She had always favoured that saying.

Fairfax decided to poke her head out from her shadowy den, also taking her time in looking over the stranger new boy. Of course, she wasn’t as careful about hiding where her eyes were wandering. The little cat only cared about the girl she was guiding, and keeping her safe. With a cute little snort, she awkwardly squeezed through the wolf’s thighs, rather than taking the easy route, where she sat down on Taillefer’s stomach.

“Maybe not, but I haven’t had a good drink for days. I’ve been wandering around. Only water I’ve found is salty. Come sit down, I don’t bite. So long as you don’t.” She smirked, remaining lying down. She wasn’t going to shift her position. He wasn’t threatening, and neither was she. Besides, any position other than a submissive one and she’d probably end up getting hurt. And she had not change of protecting herself. ‘Specially against this guy.

ooc: pft, what a charmer <,< ~

He returned his smirk, his eyes gleaming with an appealing light. Besides becoming victim to her feline's rundown, he couldn't help but get the feeling where was more being check about him than what was being seen. With his smirk still in place, he arched a dark brown and gave a curious glance to the woman. "I don't bite miss but I must say I do love to nibble." He shot her a cocky wink, then lowered his arm from behind his neck. Placing his hands into his pockets once more, he leaned back a bit before walking towards her. Stopping close, he leaned over and looked down at her from above.

"Your pussy doesn't seem too shy," he gave a more warm smile, charming in it's relatively crooked way. A low chuckle rumbled in his throat, similar to what may have been the sound of a pleasing stretch within his wolf form. Slowly, one arm reached down, offering it in a shake. "Th-name's Sephet. I must say you don't seem too shy yourself. Could be a bad thing - I could be the boogy man." He didn't change his warm smile, nor did he shoot another wink at this statement. Rather, he remained at ease. From his position, he could look down to both her and the feline. Still a strange colour, though he couldn't help but have a little surprise that he had assumed wrong. From the faint scent - which he could now catch - it was obvious the feline was also female. Lucky for him though; he hadn't mentioned anything about it.

Sorry for the wait, the shortness and the crappiness.

Taillefer laughed softly, shielding her eyes with one hand whilst reaching the other out to tickle her little guide under the chin. “She isn’t, really; just wary.” She bopped Fairfax on the nose, something the cat didn’t seem too happy about. A hiss escaped her. The wolf simply eyed her companion, frowning at the behaviour. True, the cat was quite grumpy, but she’d never usually hiss in company. I don’t like him. She grumbled. Not a surprise, to be quite honest. Fairfax had never been too keen on strangers, especially males. She was a little less naïve than the wolf, maybe even a little smarter too. She knew what most of them were out for.

“Taillefer.” She answered simply, reaching her gloved hand up to shake his firmly, before withdrawing it. “True, you could be. But I stopped being scared of monsters a long time ago, Sephet.” She giggled quietly, whilst the cat simply rolled her eyes. Liar, you still have to sleep with a fire glowing.

He noticed the sourness of the feline, though didn't mention it. Being a smaller creature, as well as a guide, there was things he'd never understand going on between the two of them. A silent conversation or simple reading of body language. Regardless, he defied the hiss and merely arched a brow to the laying woman. "I wouldn't say that too loud, he might come after you t'night." He moved to sit, above her and out of the way. Arching her neck back would give her vision of him, though he didn't much care of if she bothered with that or not.

"So Taillefer, what brings yea around here?" he asked softly, slowly reaching the ground and shifting quickly. With a blur of figure then the explosion of colour, the multi-coloured wolf looked with his pale purple eyes towards the horizon. With the winters' sunlight, the rays seemed to bring out the exact brilliance of his coat he seemed to wish to hide. With an almost eye-burning brilliance, the fluffed and downy fur seemed to glow. Thus, he remained almost unable to escape or hide from both his prey and predators.

Nugget says, " Her body rocked as her feet shuffled about and Howl's head rose curiously to watch as the female took a place on the sand. He wondered then if some plague had overcome her, whether he should leave before he too was infected. But Howl, indeed, was still a very young wolf... and, in a very loose sense of the word, naive. "
