OOC:
For Slavery. Sorry if it's a little big. XP I had a lot of free time.

Mercury looked up determinedly at the large branches of the ancient tree. She stared at it daring it to mock her. Instead it just groaned wearily and another wind whipped through its empty branches causing a strange rattling noise. She seemed to have a knack for finding places with a view, and these cliffs were no exception. She wanted to see further though, than what the cliffs were allowing her. Mercury was determined that to do this she needed to get higher, and to do that she needed to climb one of these trees.

Really, it had been Malachite’s fault; he had been the one that told her she couldn't climb a tree right before she had left. She had assured him she could, but he had refused to believe her. He had picked one for her to climb, and she had agreed grudgingly. She had jumped up onto the nearest branch and remembered squawking as the branch broke beneath her and dumped her on the ground. Malachite, of course, laughed for hours and she was seriously thinking of kicking him off the mountain.

But now she needed to make up for her earlier failure, and the sun seemed to encourage her as it saluted her from above, shining down and warming her cinnamon back. She nodded, decided, and walked forward towards the tree. The roots covered the surrounding ground, causing bumps and warms and tangling around each other. She used these to her advantages sitting on one that brought her close to the lowest branch. She wiggled her hind, looking up at the branch, gouging the distance, before she pushed off and leaped into the air. She came down on the branch, it hitting her stomach and she moved swiftly to sit on it. She balanced delicately for a moment, but regained her balance, and started to search for her next landing point.

The trees branches were thick and wide, which made her goal easy, but eventually she wasn't so lucky. She was maybe ten feet away from the ground when the only branch in reach was the one just above her head and a little to the left. She steeled herself, gathering her courage, before she shuffled closer to the tree trunk. She walked her paws up the trunk of the tree slowly, not wanting to tip over, until they were a couple of inches away from the branch above her. Without think she pushed up with her hind legs, jumping and pulled at the bark of the branch pulling the top of her body even with the branch. But then she got stuck.

Oh bother, this was not good. Her front paws were wrapped over the branch, but her hind legs were hanging about a foot away from the branch below her. She must have looked ridiculously, her hind swinging back and forth like some tree ornament. She pulled at her abdominal muscles trying to dig into the branch with her hind legs, to push her further onto it, but the wood was like clay underneath her claws and it just gave away. She let her hind legs swing back down to their hanging position as she looked around nervously for an out. This was probably not one of her best idea. Her antlers clacked into the tree trunk as she lay her head down on the branch, trying to think. Malachite would have been useful in this situation; he could have run and got father and the others.
