Only here, deep within the caverns of the Spine, where crystals cascaded like water from the walls, and light danced within them, did one female Sheta feel safe. Not even in the midst of a thunderstorm, when the very Spine trembled from its power did she feel as calm as then. Even when the light drew the shadows close around her, trying to suffocate her light form, she felt safe. Shifting her wings slightly, Rainrunner stepped forward carefully, slowly, as if her very life depended on not making a sound. But the Hollows demanded it of her. One of the few remaining of the original Spine pack, this place she held sacred. The crystals sang to her, a clear sweet melody of light and sound to be shattered at the slightest disturbance. Walking carefully, the rain-dappled Sheta raised her golden eyes upwards to the glittering ceiling, myriads of light reflected within her sunset orbs.

She would guard this place with her life. Filled with shadow and light, she found it soothing. Pausing on a small outcrop, she closed her eyes to listen around her. The soft patter of water on stone. The gentle wisp of wind past crystal. Her steady breathing. Her unending pulse. A breeze she could not feel stirred her feathered crest, adding to the musicless song. This was peace. Opening her eyes once more, the storm-touched slowly lowered herself to lay on the outcrop, watching the cavern around her. Her wings shifted slightly, falling easily to her sides in a relaxed posture. But her eyes were keen. Surrounded by shadow and light, the storm remained sentinel over her domain.

OOC: Sorry for length, I wrote this in my sociology class x.x very bored.

Everything you wish you were, fallen at my feet. Shadows shivered and slithered along the length of silver crystals, breathed darkness into their light. Heaven's hallowed angels cried in joyous overtures against slender mists, blind eye cast to the world of the fallen and sinners. Shifted uneasy, many turn and move with the grain and hide with the numbers as luminary light billowed and buffered the darkness that crept in. What use is to hide from this war, every day battles are won and lost as light and dark toil for dominance.

Among the few, hindrance to angels and demons alike as he took the daring form of Death itself, was Skeleton. Skilled half mask glowed devilishly within the Hollows that he had trailed his dark form in. Crystals glittered, unpolished jewels of the earth on showcase, flaunted selflessly for all to want. She knew it didn't matter how many her inhabitants harvested, the earth always had more. Want not for the greedy, there are greater treasures afoot.

Oh yes. He had followed her.

Her scent, that curling perfume hadn't been stagnant when his hungered nose took it in from the main forest. Red eyes gleamed viciously, poisoned rubies with repeat of death's kiss playing in those thin pupils. Skeletal body moved easily through the smoke in mirrors Hollow, followed along lightly like the flutter of owl's wings. She came into view at last, her rain splattered back shivered with dancing prisms of the spectrum. Such gentle tarnish against that alabaster bodice, slivers of silvers and watered blues. Feathers ruffled down her back, and marked her as a Sheta.

High on her pedestal she lay, as if eternity revolved around her, and the cavern behind her was the Sheta's sole domain. The beauty of light, the embodiment of the just and true. And he, then, her opposite. Enveloped with shadows, cursed with a vibrant display of bones, the holder of sins and the cruel, impure impulses of the unsanitary mind.

"You seem so peaceful," he breathed and pulled himself from the shadows that loved him so, smiling slightly as he paused before her.

Let me desecrate your haven.
