a small town known as ipwich in eastern massachusetts where it's always chilly and the skies are overcast. it's been quite some time since this region of the country has seen clear skies and that bright, firey ball of madness known as the sun. the temperature ranges from upper 60s to low 70s fahrenheit. november 2009.

Lysistrata didn't like Thursdays.

For some reason, she never had. It was difficult for her to express the odd foreboding feelings she seemed to get, most commonly on Thursdays, to those around her. Most simply dismissed it as another of her many oddities, so she refrained from telling people. Now that she really thought about it, however, it probably wasn't Thursday itself that gave her these odd feelings... but it was likely that she had grown to recognize them specifically on Thursdays.

..she still didn't like Thursdays.

Mostly, Lyza would hide in the library for her free period, and even sneak her lunch in there as well. It was quiet, and she could almost always hear someone coming - so she could either run or hide or whatever. Plus... she just liked the library. It was air conditioned and had the most comfortable carpet. And the librarians usually didn't mind that she was there.

Today, she had settled herself in the far corner of the library, her back pressed against the end of a bookcase and her legs crossed. Her lunch lay in a paper bag near her left knee, perilously threatening to be squished by an unwary book-searcher. Her hands had been resting in the Psychology book spread in her lap, across her royal blue pleated skirt, but somehow managed to rest, palm-up, on the carpet. She had tucked black tights into the tops of her Mary-Janes and encircled her ankles with nearly dark blue leg warmers.

Usually, she wore some sort of makeup to disguise the circles under her eyes - the purple shirt she wore beneath her school shirt, and her purple headband - really drew attention to them. It definitely helped that her head was resting against the cool wood of the bookshelf, that her eyes were closed.. and that she was all but snoring.
